Process: I set up the pages in InDesign, then add-

ed the colored backgrounds based on the colors in my picture. Then I drew the balloons and added in my logo. On the inside i added more balloons and placed my pictures in them. Then I inserted my text and added in the camera picture. On the back I added the photo I cut out in photoshop and then added the text wrapped around it.

Three logo variations for the same company.

Course/Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 8 Julie Peterson

Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe Illustrator

Objectives:

Create three completely different, original logos to fit a company or personal image that will appeal to the audience. Do not imitate existing logos or use your previous designs. Use only the tools to create and draw your logos.

Process: I used the shapes tool to create the boxes,

which I wanted to resemble stacking blocks that kids play with, so I made them primary colors. I then created a path to write the title on. I then used the shapes and pen tools to create the moon, sun and stars for both of the first two logos.I also wanted the third one to look like blocks, so I put boxes around them. I used fonts that reminded me of children to appeal to their parents.

Program(s)/Tools:
Microsoft Word

Objectives:

Find, scan and import a high-quality image. Then, create a full-bleed design using color schemes and typeface(s) that work for your message and audience. Learn to use only Word design features without using any Adobe programs, including Photoshop.

Process:

I scanned the Taylor Swift perfume ad, and then cropped most of the picture. I used the same font on the ad, Satisfaction, as the title font too because it matched her signature. I pulled the color scheme from the ad and added the different colors to make it more interesting.

Course/Instructor:
Comm 130 Section 8 Julie Peterson

Program(s)/Tools: Objectives:

Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign

Create a new logo to fit a company or personal image. Use your new logo to design a letterhead. Letterhead: 8.5 x 11 (full-bleed optional, but trim only .125) Apply typography rules keeping small copy and learn to keep thing simple by having watermarks and drop shadows light and white space.

Process:

I created the logo using simple shapes in Adobe Illustrator. I messed around a little to bend them and whatnot. I first put the logo in the top left corner, keeping it away from the edges. Then I typed contact information into a text box and positioned it on the right hand side of the paper. I added in the dark lines to add more contrast and draw the eye to the information and to get some repetition. I also added a large version of the logo at the bottom, but made it very light.

Write content to describe the process of creating your logo and how it appeals to a target audience. Design a web page using HTML to display the logo and content. Acquire a working knowledge of HTML. Acquire a working knowledge of CSS.

Process:

I created this project using TextWrangler and Photoshop. I created my logo in Photoshop, then I used TextWrangler to create the webpage. Ive never worked with HTML before, so this was quite an experience. I also used the pre made CSS document and added colors that complimented my logo to the page. I changed my fonts to Arial and Palatino Linotype because I thought they looked nice together and complimented my design. I also added backup fonts in case these didnt work.

Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe InDesign

Objectives:

Apply the design principles and use appropriate typography. Incorporate basic InDesign skills to improve basic flier layout.

Process:

First, I created some sketches of possible layouts. I then used my sketch as a rough guide to create a layout in Adobe InDesign. I ended up changing my original design a lot because I couldnt figure out how to do exactly what I wanted. I used the lines and arrows to draw the eye down to the text. I centered the photo, which I wouldnt normally do, in order to create a good vocal point and so I could put the speech bubbles around it. I used the speech bubbles to emphasize the most important information. I made sure to leave white space and keep the text small.
