Letterhead
Description: Matching letterhead and business card designed using a personally created logo. Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): I created the logo using circle shapes in Adobe Illustrator and adjusting the opacity. Once the logo was created, I opened a new two page InDesign document and placed my logo .AI file into this document. I really enjoyed the color scheme of my logo and kept it consistent with the symbols indicating my information. My second page is a letterhead. I positioned the placed logo in the top left corner of my letterhead. I then drew a line leading away from my logo. I kept the line constant at the bottom and put my information stacked beneath it on the left hand corner. Programs/Tools Used: Adobe Illustrator & InDesign Message: The company is Zarina Leiva Public Relations. It is self-branding for what will hopefully be my future career. Business Card
Description: Matching letterhead and business card designed using a personally created logo. Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): I created the logo using circle shapes in Adobe Illustrator and adjusting the opacity. I also used the symbol tool to create the small cell phone, internet, and email symbols. On my first page I used the rectangle tool to create the front and back outline of my business card. I then copied/pasted the logo and contact information onto this page. I enlarged my logo so it would take up almost all ofthe back of the card and made the front clear and simple with information. I really enjoyed the color scheme of my logo and kept it consistent with the symbols indicating my information. Programs/Tools Used: Adobe Illustrator & InDesign Message: The company is Zarina Leiva Public Relations. It is selfbranding for what will hopefully be my future career. Logos
Description: Four logo variations for the same company. Process: I really enjoyed learning how to create a logo in Illustrator. I used typography and reflecting the words for the first logo. The second was more complicated with having to trace a baroque style mirror frame using the pen and pencil tool to acheive the detail. The third logo is mainly the elipse tool and the rounded square tool with different levels of opacity and a more relaxed typography. The final used the elipse tools and the bevel effect to combine the two colors on the outer ring and give it the connected twisting effect and a white rectangle clearing the path for the main words. Programs/Tools Used: Adobe Illustrator Message: Mirror Mirror public relations will reflect the best possible image of our clients. Audience: Anyone interested in public relations and their image. Top Thing Learned: How to trace and design on Illustrator. Color scheme: first logo: monochromatic; second logo: monochromatic;third logo: Complementary; bottom logo: Complementary

I used the decorative acccents throughout the brochure to create repition and a common theme as well as tie in with the word association i wanted with the word Elite. I created the logo in Illustrator making the E at the beginning of Elite similar to a fork on a plate and made the side cutout a fork as well so that the theme was reoccuring Programs/Tools Used: Adobe InDesign/Adobe Illustrator Message: Inform the public about the service this company offers and how to get in contact Audience: Someone looking for a caterer. Montage
Description: An inspirational montage made by the blending of two or more images, and the use of typography. Process: I cropped the background image to 8.511. I selected the Hollywood sign and moved him to the background image close to where there was already some greenery in the background image, then I added a mask. With black paint and a 100% opacity, soft-edged brush, I painted away the hard image edges. With a larger black brush at 40% opacity, I blended the image into the background, so it looks like it is blending in with the already existing shrubbery. I repeated the process with the Observatory, but I lassoed it first. I just dragged the entire image to the background image and started masking it until it blended with some more shrubs at the bottom of the adjacent. I once again repeated with the pier and the beach but this time used the loop tool to get just the right amount and blended the water in with the sky. I added some type that was decorative with cities within the letters to keep with the theme and added a drop shadow to make it more prominent. Programs/Tools Used: Adobe Photoshop Color scheme : Analogous and color names: Blue,Teal,Green Top thing learned: How to gradually blend two images using masks

Event Ad
Description: This is a colorful full-bleed event ad to promote a fundraiser using only Microsoft Word and a scanner. Process: I scanned the image of the fruit collage, and then used the image as my background. First I made a white box in the center to put focus on the information. I made the title to stand out in the box and once i started added diamonds elsewhere i then decided to add some behind the title box as well which helped to contrast the words on the background. Then I added diamonds with various shades of green in the background for repetition, organization, and rhythm. I choose two fonts with contrasting styles and weights for emphasis on certain words. Programs I used: Microsoft Word, Epson Scanner, PDF2JPG.net (PDF converter). Message: I am running a charity Farmers Market on behalf of Madison county. The purpose is to educate families on making healthy food choices. The money raised would go toward different organizations in town that help educate children and families in healthy living. Audience: Anyone in or around the community, looking to support the community and make a healthy lifestyle change. Top thing learned: I learned how to scan properly! I think it is an extremely useful skill to me and one that I was glad to have learned. Color scheme and color names: Monochromatic Green

HTML WEB

page
Description: A web page designed to showcase logo I created Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): I created this web page using only TextWrangler and then used Photoshop for images. I have absolutely no experience with HTML/CSS. It was always this skill that was in my mind that I thought was extremely difficult and unobtainable. It was interesting to see how you could make a web page by only using a simple text editor. I loved that I was able to learn the basics of this skill and am excited to continue experimenting. It was also interesting to use thehttp://www.W3.org HTML validator which helped me in double checking that my code was in order. Once I marked up all my content and inserted my image, I linked a pre-made CSS document to my HTML. I used my logo colors as the colors for my web page. I found matched these colors by opening Photoshop and using the eyedropper tool. I also changed my fonts to Times New Roman and Verdana. I declared some backup fonts just in case the viewers browser didnt have these fonts. I also created margins around the logo so as to give it enough space from the border. Another thing I did was created a background image that also matched the shapes and colors of my logo. Programs/Tools Used: TextWrangler & Photoshop Message: That my company is a proffesional public relations agency but with new, fun, and refreshing ideas.. Top Thing Learned: How to format text in HTML and always remembering to double check and verify my work. Changes made to the CSS: I changed the font families, and I also changed the colors to match my logo.

IMAGING
Process: I loved learning how to use the camera and finally feel above amateur. For the first image I metered the center on the sky and increased the vibrancy on the colors of the sky. I took a photo of a group of junk food objects int the center of my kitchen and used an extra lamp for extra lighting. For the focus images, I took the same photo of a collection of soda bottles. I used the macro option on my point-andshoot camera to blur the background. Then I turned the macro off and focused on the lager two liters in the background, which made the glass bottle blurry in the close foreground. I tried this a few times, but could not get it until I made sure there was plenty of distance between the two subjects and until I was able to find a button on the camera that allowed me to move the center focus to different areas in the frame. Finally, I took a picture of the front of my apartment complex to show the rule of thirds. I put the office and the lantern on the one third lines and the top of buildings on a onethird line as well as the bottom of the latern pillar. Then for the last photo, I framed my roomate Madisons eyes on the one-third line, kept him to the side of the frame and faced him into the frame to allow lead room. with the brick wall.

Flier
Description: This project is a black and white flier to promote a graduate leadership conference. Process: First I created some sketches of my layout. I used my sketch as a foundation to create this layout in Adobe InDesign. I used black boxes for repetition and contrast. I also emphasized one word in my title for emphasis on the main idea I wanted to convey. I used the way that the font and people in the picture descended to create repetition and flow. i also used the descending color in the gradient to match the same repetition and flow. I left white space and kept my body copy small while bolding and emphasizing important information within. I was given the image, logo, and content for this flier. Message: By putting the most information on the word emphasis on the word Leadership in the title I was trying to not only reach graduates but tell all college level students about the skills they can learn here so that whether or not they were graduating they could keep it in mind for future reference. Audience: Recent graduates and college students from age 1830. Top thing learned: I learned the importance of contrast, repetition and flow. Title Font Name & Category: Modern 735 BT Modern Copy Font Name & Category: Microsoft Sans Serif Sans Serif

Additional Montage
Description: This project is a motage personalized for a family Process: First I grabbed a temple image that I like and tried many ways to make it sepia toned using duatone color adjustments. I also tried using a sepia filter but I still didnt like my project. I then put a beige mask over and used the burn effect on the edges and made it less strong towards the center. Then I added the text. Message: BThe reason I did this is because I have seen many for sale and they are pretty pricey so I wanted to see if I could recreate mt own. This is for any family recognizing the year they got sealed in the temple. Audience: Anyone who has gotten married or sealed in the temple or knows someone who has. Top thing learned: I learned the importance of blending and not giving up when something doesnt work the first time.
