CHALLENGE Brazil is a country of continental dimensions with different regions, cultures and climate. There are several types of places to visit and get to know. This is an attractive factor not only to foreigners but also to the Brazilian population. According to the ministry of tourism, the number of Brazilians who want to travel within the country is three times more (72,7%) than the ones who want to travel abroad (24,7%). This represent a 2.8% increase in the domestic tourism of Brazil, about 5 million tourists. Due to the increase of the number of domestic tourists in the country, the Ministry of Tourism in partnership with TIT Consultoria & Servios developed this App for Windows 8, the portal Destinos Brasil. This solution helps tourists to find the best destination for him/her filtering the search by region or type of trip such as adventure, ecotourism, cultural etc.

In case the user wants to filter the information by the type of trip that he/she wants to take, just select a category and choose the city that suits you the most.

Selecting the desired city, the user will find historical and cultural information about the city as well as attractions and gastronomy. In addition to location and how to access the destination, such as highways and airports.

The App was launched in the Windows Store in January of 2014 and currently has about 2.290 users, without any advertising campaign made by the Ministry of Tourism yet. There are no versions for other platforms. Our goal is to have 15.000 downloads by January of 2015. In February we had a download peak due to the Carnaval holiday, a period that the demand for traveling increases considerably in Brazil. This peak was during the week of February 23 with about 1,400 downloads.

After delivering the solution, TIT Consultoria & Servios offered 60 hours of training about developing for Windows Store to the IT team of the Ministry of Tourism. Because this application is new in the Windows Store there are no articles or videos related to our project. However, the website Baixaki did a complete analysis of the App in its site. http://www.baixaki.com.br/windows-8/destinos-brasil.htm With this application, TIT Consultoria & Servio increased its portfolio of projects in developing apps for Windows 8 and consequently there has been an increase in leads for this kind of work. In order to provide a new experience for the users of the App, TITcs built the communication with the database of the Ministry of Tourism using a framework WCF, in addition to the development of the layout for Windows 8. For this TITcs used Microsoft Visual Studio tools for programming the App and Microsoft Blend for the layout.
