Content Standard

1.1 By the end of the 6-year primary schooling, pupils will be able to pronounce words and speak confidently with the correct stress, rhythm and intonation. 1.2 By the end of the 6-year primary schooling, pupils will be able to listen and respond appropriately in formal and informal situations for a variety of purposes.

Learning Standards :

1.2.2 Able to listen to and follow: a) simple instructions in the classroom. 1.1.3 Able to listen to, say aloud and recite rhymes or sing songs with guidance. 1.1.4 Able to talk about a stimulus with guidance.

Language Focus

: Nouns ( garden, flowers, snails, birds, grass, sky, trees, slugs, bees )

Behavioural Objectives

: By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to : a) follow instructions and jump to the correct pictures. b) circle the correct answers while listening to the song. c) talk about their dream garden.

Puzzle of garden Set Induction ( 5 minutes) Introduction to the topic Examples: 1. What is the topic we are going to learn today.

1. Teacher brings in a big puzzle of garden in the class. (Appendix A) 2. Teacher pastes the big puzzle on the board. 3. Teacher calls pupils randomly to solve the puzzle. 4. Teacher asks pupils to guess the topic there are going to learn on that day?

Pre-listening ( 15 minutes)

1. Teacher asks pupils several questions based on the puzzle on the board. 2. Teacher pastes nine word cards on the pictures in the puzzle. (Appendix B) 3. Teacher drills pupils to spell and pronounce the words with the correct pronunciation and stress by using word cards. 4. Teacher stick pictures on different walls around the classroom. 5. Teacher tells pupils they are going to play an activity called Jump to Me. 6. Teacher gives instruction to different groups in turn. Eg: Jump to the birds! 7. Teacher asks the other groups to clap and say Hurray! when the group do the correct action and go to the correct pictures.

While-listening ( 15 minutes)

Listening to a song entitled In the Garden

Tasksheet

1. Teacher tells pupils that they are going to listen to a song entitled In the Garden. 2. Teacher plays the song twice and pupils are to listen to the song attentively. 3. Teacher distributes task sheet 1 to the class. (Appendix C) 4. Teacher explains the instructions and show example on how to do the exercise. 5. Pupils are to circle the correct nouns that they heard from the song while listening to the song. 6. Teacher checks the answers together with the pupils. 7. Teacher gives comments on pupils progress. 8. Teacher displays the lyric of the song and asks pupils to sing the song again with action. (Appendix D)

Post-listening ( 20 minutes)

Playing an activity entitled My Dream Garden. Demonstration of activity:

1. Teacher scatters colour sticks on the table and ask pupils pick up one stick . 2. When all the pupils are ready, teacher asks them to stand up and get into groups of the stick with the same colour. 3. Teacher tells pupils they are going to do an activity called My dream garden 4. Then, teacher continues the activity by giving clear instructions to the pupils. 5. Teacher gives a task to each group.
