Conference Overview
The Caribbean Conference on Strategic Human Resource Management 2014 will focus on assisting HR practitioners with the latest research and thought on the issues surrounding the use of social media in the workplace. As social media becomes the norm for all generations, our workplace has to tackle the delicate balance between productivity, privacy and the integration of these media into our job descriptions. There is a gamut of social media policies today, whereby some companies have opted for direct prohibition, others have a more balanced approach appealing to common sense and good judgment of their employees. Additionally, there is a raging debate surrounding the legality of using social media to screen candidates in the recruitment process. From as far back as the 1990s, Fortune 500 companies started to use the internet and other online tools as part of their recruitment strategies. The conference will therefore examine global best practices in online recruitment together with the integration of social media.
