2 Checklist

Before we go to the school to conduct our School Based Assessment, we had given a checklist in our task. We must follow the terms that written in the check list to collect and research the information to complete the task. Through the collection of information according to the checklist, I have gained a lot of new knowledge and experience about the school matters. Firstly, I found that the management and organization in school is a tricky job, if the school administrative staffs such as principal, vice-principal and discipline teacher do not handle the school management and organization with integrity and wisdom. After I had read through the school organization chart, I was pleasantly surprised that the school can allocate very part in the school management with fair for every teacher. Therefore, all school staffs have their own responsibilities to enhance the performance and reputation of the school. Secondly, the infrastructure that available in the school is very satisfactory by the school community such as teachers and students. Furthermore, schools facilities and infrastructure that are in good condition and the good environment has resulted a comfortable learning environment for students. The school has garden and field that provide the bench under the tree for the students to enjoy the nature and relax their mind during recess. The special classrooms in school are fully-equipped. For example, during the period of Science, students can go to the science lab to conduct their lecture and carry on the experiment in their learning and teaching process for Science.

Thirdly, school murals that draw by the teachers and students are colourful and meaningful always attract the students and the parents who pass by to look for it. The mural is very attractive. If we look carefully to the mural, we can aware that every mural is including the term of encouragement to encourage the students to continue to their effort. Teachers and students spent the long time to draft, draw and paint the mural. Furthermore, the teachers were willing to sacrifice their time to paint the mural after the morning session. I am really admirable to their spirit that willing to beautify the school without any fuss. Fourthly, the moral values that prevail in this school are in the excellence level. The difference types of activities that conducted in school are instilling the moral value among students. Students aware the important of the environment through the activity of recycling, they try to protect the environment through the recycling activity. Moreover, students also learn to respect to each other, to be tolerance to their friends and they also learn to help each other in the co-curriculum activity. Apart from that, the words of wisdom that display around the walls of the school building also is the school's efforts to remember the students to always behave well and be a person who was dedicated to the nation. Fifthly, I carry out the checklist in the school classrooms. I find out that all classrooms are equipped with timetable, timetable on duty, students works on the notice board behind the classroom and the reading corner. The classroom is clean because students would refer the timetable on duty that had arranged by their form teacher to clean the classroom every day. Teachers and students would refer to the timetable in the classroom to make sure the every lecture can go smoothly by follow the

time in the timetable. The reading corner in the classroom has provided some newspaper, story books, magazine or comics. Most of the reading material at the reading corner is donate by the students. The students would bring the old or second hand reading material from house and put at the reading corner to share among each other. Sixthly, the activities of co-curriculum have uniform groups such as girl guides, boy scouts, boys brigade and so on. Furthermore, the school also has society activity such as English society, karate society, coir society, drama society, gymnastic society and so on. Other than that, the sport activities such as table tennis, basketball and badminton also include in the activity of co-curriculum. The teachers would follow the co-curriculum timetable to supervise and conduct the co-curriculum activity in school during Saturday. As a conclusion, the checklist that provided for us to do research and observation in school can enhance our awareness of the school environment, organization and management. The School Based Assessment is a good opportunity for us to adapt ourselves with the school environment. Therefore, we will not feel strange when we posting to the school after graduate in the future.
