Remote Annunciators FG Wilson supply two remote annunciator panels to operate with the 4001 and 4001E series

control panels. These are the Pan 4 and Pan 5 Remote Annunciators. The Pan 4 option has 0 channels and is used !or the 4001 system were as the Pan 5 has 11 channels and is used in con2unction with the 4001E. The system operates when a ne ati"e si nal is switched to the remote annunciator panel !rom the 400134001E control panel and the correspondin (E) is illuminated.

The 4001 4 4001E systems are !itted with the ri''on3!ield ca'le inter!ace 'oard. The purpose o! this inter!ace to allow the re5uired si nals to 'e transmitted !rom the control panel to the remote annunciator. 6i nals !rom 'oth the 4001 4 4001E P$%&s are terminated on this 'oard and the details i"en in ta'ular !orm on the control panel schematic The si nals !rom the inter!ace are then hardwired to the remote annunciator ensurin that the correct si nal is connected to the correspondin channel on the remote annunciator. The remote annunciator will ha"e an en ra"ed !ascia detailin the !aults as listed on the enerator control panel !ascia. #n the P$%&s inside the remote annunciator the customer has the a'ility to chan e the colour o! the !ault (E)&s !rom the !ollowin choices* red+ yellow or reen. Also each channel can 'e pro rammed to sound a siren when acti"ated. The supply !or the remote annunciator panel is ta,en !rom the inter!ace 'oard. The positi"e supply is ta,en !rom pin 11 on the inter!ace and connected to terminal - .Pos/ on the annunciator P$%+ the ne ati"e supply is o'tained 'y ta,in a wire 5 !rom the control panel to terminal 10 on the annunciator P$%. The operatin "olta e o! the remote annunciator panel is not indicated on the panel 'ut the "olta e can 'e determined 'y chec,in the ratin o! the relays

on the annunciator P$%. This will state 7486% or 1786% dependin on whether the system is 17 or 74 "olts. The remote annunciator panels may ha"e optional remote start switches or emer ency stops !itted. 9! the remote start switch is !itted then it is necessary to connect this switch to wires : 4 74 in the control panel. 9! the emer ency stop is !itted then the remote stop lin, should 'e remo"ed in the control panel and wires - 4 11 connected across to the remote annunciator panel. The distance that the remote annunciator can 'e mounted !rom the enset depends on the "olta e o! the system and also the type o! wire that is used to connect 'oth parts o! the system. To calculate the ma;imum len th we !irst determine the operatin "olta e and how many channels we are usin either 0 or 11. The ma;imum "olta e drop !or 17" systems is 7" and !or 74" systems the ma;imum drop is 4". We also ha"e to allow 100mA per channel. We then apply #hms law to et the o"erall resistance o! the connectin ca'le. E;ample* 17" Pan 4 i"es Resistance < ma; "olts drop3.100mA ; num'er o! channels/ Resistance < 7" 3 000mA Resistance < 7.5 ohms We need to now re!er to the ca'le manu!actures hand'oo, !or the selected ca'le or an 9EE39EEE data ta'le to determine the resistance per yard or metre !or the selected ca'le. The resistance that we calculated is then di"ided 'y the manu!acturers !i ure to o'tain the theoretical ma;imum len th that the annunciator can 'e !rom the enerator. 9! we were usin 14w .7.1mm7/ then the resistance is appro;imately 0.00=0: ohms per !oot. This would then i"e us a ma;imum len th o! 015 !eet 3 7:7 yards or 74: metres. Allowances should 'e made as data ta'les 5uote resistance at a i"en temperature and you must allow !or "ariance in the am'ient temperature.
