NUIntegration 360HuntingtonAve, Boston,MA02115 March15,2014 DearHOME,Inc.: NortheasternUniversityIntegration(NUInt.)hasbeentaskedbyHOME,Inc.tocreatea process/systemthatbridgesthetechnologygapintheclassroomatEnglishHighSchoolforthefull utilizationoftheInFocussmartprojectors.Theissueathandwastocreateameansbywhichteachers areabletofullyunderstandhowtheycanincorporatethesesmartprojectorsindifferentacademic settingsandhowtophysicallyoperatethedevice.FurthermoreNUInt.understoodthatteachersare veryhesitanttoacceptnewtechnologyintheclassroom.NUInt.hascateredthisdocumenttobe physicallyappealingandeasytodigest. NUInt.wouldliketopresentHOME,Inc.withtheattachedinformationalgraphicsthatcaterto alltherequirementssetforthintheinitialevaluation.WhenNUInt.wasbrainstormingideasforthis taskwedecidedthatinformationalgraphicswouldbethebestwaytoapproachthisproblem.

Theteamhasconductedintensiveresearchoutliningdifferentwaystheprojectorcanbeutilizedaswell asthebenefitsofusingthenewtechnology.NUInt.haspresentedthisinformationonafewdifferent infographicswhichareenclosed.Theseofferinstructionalinformationonhowtooperatethedeviceas wellaswaysthattheprojectorcanbeusedindifferentsubjectareas. NUInt.isaneworganizationthathasbeencreatedtoassistthecommunityinunderstanding theextentoftechnologythatisavailableandhowtheycanbestutilizethistechnology.Theteamis comprisedofahandfulofengineersinmanydifferentspecializations.Theteamhaswitnessed practicallyeverystyleoftechnologyusedonadailybasisinbothacademicplatformsaswellas consumerelectronicsplatforms.Withthisstrong,diverseteam,NUIntegrationtakespridesinoffering effectivesolutions. Challenge
BasedonourinitialmeetingwithourServiceLearningpartners,NUIntegrationunderstoodthe followingchallengesexisted. 1. Teachersreluctancetoacceptnewtechnology 2. Fearthatthetechnologywillnotperformasanticipated 3. Overwhelmingamountofinformationonthefunctionalityoftheprojectorwithnoclearsimple directiononhowtouseone.

Objectives
Basedonourunderstandingofthescopeoftheproject,theteamcameupwiththefollowingobjectives thatthesolutionwillfulfill: 1. Createacontentdeliveryformatthatisbothvisuallystimulatingandinformative. 2. SimplifytheabundanceofinformationavailablefortheInFocusinteractiveprojectorsinsucha waythatrepresentshoweasytheprojectorsaretousebyanyoneinanyteachingfield. Fromourinitialorientationandourfollowinginvestigationitwasdeterminedthattherewerea multitudeoffunctionsassociatedwiththeprojector.Thesefunctionsseemedtobethesolemethodfor describingandtryingtoconvincecustomerstousetheprojector,yetallofthisinformationis overwhelming.Wecollectivelydeterminedthattheonlywaytoensurethisprojectissuccessfulisto simplifythefunctionsausercandototheirmostbasicformandpresentaclearexampleofwhenthe projectorcouldbeusedtoillustratejusthoweasytheyare.

Solution
TheteamunderstoodthattheteachersatEnglishHighSchoolsharedamoretraditionalviewof educationandtechnology.Thus,ourgroupdecidedtoprovideaprintabledocumentintheformofan informationalgraphic.Thismethodofdeliverycombinesbothmodernandclassicalapproachesinthe sensethatitisvisuallyappealingandsuccinctwhilealsobeingpresentedinthemediumthatismost preferablepaper.Thisalsoallowsforthedocumenttobepassedaroundandhungwitheach projector,displayingthekeystepstousethem Itwasultimatelyconcludedthatamajorityofthefunctionsoftheprojectorcouldbenarroweddownto threekeysteps.Thesestepsalongwithsupportinginformationaboutthenecessityoftechnologyinthe classroomarepresentedinthePDFattachedtothisdocument.
