7he RS0/0 adapter is installed in an open 8- it or 11- it slot in your 'C# using the sa"e "ethod as any other %ard. !e8ore inserting the adapter# the Address is sele%ted using a Fu"per on the adapter. (n%e the adapter is installed# it %an e %onne%ted to a "ode" using the supplied SCC1 %a le. ?ire%t %onne%tion to another 'C or to a host 8ront-end pro%essor also is possi le using a syn%hronous "ode" eli"inator AS=<B %onne%tor. (ther Address %hoi%es are 290# 2A0# and 2B0. Note: Change this setting only i8 you &eri8y a %on8li%t 6ith other e>uip"ent in the 'C. 7he RS0/0 adapter only de%odes the lo6 1, address lines. 7his "eans that the RS0/0 6ill %on8li%t 6ith any other adapter 6hose lo6 1, address lines "at%h the RS0/0 address. 7he lo6 1, address lines spe%i8y he)ade%i"al addresses 8ro" ,,,, to ,/... $8 you ha&e &eri8ied an Address %on8li%t 6ith another adapter# "o&e the Fu"per to one o8 the other settings. 7he settings are %learly "arked on the adapter. A8ter you ha&e %o"pleted the RS0/0 adapter installation# you need to %he%k the Address setting in the !arr so8t6are to "ake sure it "at%hes the adapter setting.

Spe%ial hard6are i"ple"ents ?ire%t =e"ory A%%ess so that the so8t6are only has to initiate the trans8er o8 a bloc$ o8 "e"ory. 5ithout ?=A# so8t6are has to pro%ess ea%h b%te o8 "e"ory. 7es No ?e8ault. Ise ?=A. At speeds o8 19#0,, greater# ?=A is re%o""ended. ps or

Phase 1 7 Adapter Installation and Settin"s

7he 8irst phase %an e run as is C you do not need the 7est plug or a "ode" %onne%tion. 7his phase &eri8ies that the adapter is installed %orre%tly and that all settings are %orre%t.
Phase 2 7 All Adapter +unctions

7he se%ond phase re>uires the 7est plug that %o"es strapped to the "ode" %a le. 7o run this phase# insert the 7est plug into the adapter. Any pro le" reported in this phase is 6ith the adapter or 7est plug.
Phase 3 7 Ca'le and E)ternal *ode%

7he third phase re>uires you to set your "ode" to analog loop a%k AALB "ode# or lo%al loop a%k ALLB "ode on so"e "ode"s. ?ata does not enter the telephone line in this "ode. $nstead# data loops a%k into the re%ei&e side o8 the "ode". $n this phase the 'C sends data2 through the send side o8 the !arr adapter# into the %a le# 8ro" the %a le to the "ode"# and through the send side o8 the "ode". 7he data returns2 through the re%ei&e side o8 the "ode"#
