Lesson Plan
Grade/Subject: Three/ Phys. Ed. Lesson Duration: 30 mins OUTCOMES FROM ALBERTA PROGRAM OF STUDIES
General Learning Outcomes: A-Students will acquire skills through a variety of developmentally appropriate movement activities. C- Students will interact positively with others. D- Students will assume responsibility to lead and active way of life. Specific Learning Outcomes: A3-11: Demonstrate the ability to work together with a team to achieve a common activity goal while playing and learning the basic strategies of games. C3-3: Identify and demonstrate etiquette and fair play. C3-5: Display a willingness to share ideas, space and equipment when participating cooperatively with others. D3-1: Express a willingness to participate regularly in physical education class. D3-3: Demonstrate the ability to listen to directions, follow rules and routines, and stay on task while participating in physical activity.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Students will: 1. Demonstrate teamwork skills while playing and learning the basic strategies of Squirrels. 2. Demonstrate etiquette and fair play while playing Squirrels. 3. Participate cooperatively with others on the playing area. 4. Show an understanding of the directions and rules, while participating in Squirrels.
ASSESSMENTS
Key Questions: -What do teamwork, cooperation and working together mean to you? - Instructional Questions: What do you do on the word go? Where can you take acorns from? How many acorns or tails may you take a one time? Can you steal tails from other squirrels? Can you hold your tail on? Where do you go if your tail has been stolen? How do you get back in the game? If a squirrel is running to their house after stealing a tail, may you steal his tail? How many tails do you get then? Where are the safe zones? How long can you stay in the safe zones? What does the sound of my whistle mean? Performance Assessments: Are students participating? Are students putting in their best effort? Can students perform basic and manipulative skills, ie. Running, chasing, etc.? Can students demonstrate cooperation and fair play? Observations: -Regularly monitor students for attentiveness. -Are students willing to share equipment and space when working in the gym? -Are students working as a team? -Are they playing fair? -Can they understand and follow the instructions? -Monitor students for cooperation. -Do students develop a strategy as a team?
