Book Report – Due December 4th

Paper:
Write a feature article (with a headline) that tells the story of the book as it might be
found on the front page of a newspaper in the town where the story takes place.
• This must be typed, two pages long, and double spaced.
• Use specific events from the book.
• Have fun!
Rubric: Voice – 25pts – Did you emulate a news article well?
Ideas – 13pts – Do you include specific events from the story?
Conventions – 12pts – Did you follow common writing conventions, especially
the examples we covered on grammar days.
Speech:
Do a monologue. Pretend to be a character from the book. Tell the story. You can do this
aloud or on paper. If you pick someone other than the main character, you may find the
story looks different from your eyes than it does to the main character. After all, the bad
guy might not see himself as being so bad!
Rubric: Voice -- 13pts – Was it uniquely the speaker? Did you portray the characters
of the book well?
Ideas – 12pts – Could the audience tell what actually happened in the story?
Notes -- 12pts – Are your notes legible and organized?
Time constraints -- 15pts -- Was your presentation more than three minutes,
and less than five minutes? (If you plan on going longer, please consult me)
Creative: Be Creative!
#1: I must be able to understand that you’ve read the book. It is your job to
prove it.
