Sealed tenders are invited on behalf of Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok, Guwahati for Renovation and Extension of Board Room for Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok, Guwahati. The work is estimated to cost Rs. 15,22,682.00 (Lacs).This estimate however, is given merely as a rough guide.

The tender shall be in the prescribed Form. The works are required to be completed within 90 (Ninety) days from the 7th day after the day on which the Architect/Project Engineer issues written orders to commence the work or from the date of handing over of the site, whichever is later, in accordance with the phasing, if any, indicated by the Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok in the tender documents. Normally contractors whose names are borne on the approved list of Contractors of PWD/CPWD/MES/Railways/Public Sector Undertakings may be permitted to tender according the financial category. However, in the present case eligibility criteria to issue the tender is given in the para 5.1 to 5.11. Applications for issue of tender documents shall be submitted to AM (E&M), Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok, Guwahati so as to reach his office not later than 04/06/2012 (up to 12.00 PM) and will be issued to only those firms who fulfill following criteria and submit following documents. Alternatively, the tender documents can be downloaded from our website www.hotelbrahmaputraashok.com, www.theashokgroup.com and www.tenders.gov.in. In such case, Bidder should fulfill following prequalification criteria as para 5.1 to 5.11 and should submit the required documents in the specified manner in a sealed envelope superscribed Envelope No.2, Technical bid for pre-qualification for the work of Renovation and Extension of Board Room for Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok, Guwahati. Average annual financial turnover of firm during the last 3 years ending 31st March (financial years 20082009, 2009-2010 & 2010-2011), 30% of the estimated cost. Proof of having successfully completed similar works during last 7 years ending last day of the month previous to the one in which tenders are invited as per the following:a) b) c) Three similar completed works costing not less than the amount equal to 40% of the estimated cost. Copies of Similar works executed in last seven years along with performance certificate issued by previous clients showing the nature of work and their value.

History and structure of the firm, name of director(s)/Partners/proprietor with technical staff. Audited balance sheet for previous 3 (Three) years (Financial Years 2008-2009, 2009-2010 and 20102011). Latest bank solvency certificate from a scheduled bank of value not less than 40% of the estimated cost. In any case, it should not be older than 12 months from the last day of issue of NIT. List of Machinery tools and plants & equipments. All the above certificate/documents shall be submitted by the firm duly signed with seal and should be duly attested from a Gazetted Officer or an officer in PSE or Chartered Accountant of the firm/contractor. An affidavit on stamp paper of Rs.100/- (non-judicial) stating that In case any ambiguity is noticed in the Documents (list out documents) submitted at any stage, we shall be entirely responsible and liable for any action as deemed fit under the Law.

Tender documents consisting of drawings, specifications, schedule of quantities of the various classes of work to be done, the conditions of contract and other documents will be open for inspection and issued/sold on payment of Rs.500/- (Rupees five hundred only) non refundable from 28-05-2012 to 0406-2012 up to 5.00 PM In case of tender documents downloaded from our website www.hotelbrahmaputraashok.com, www.theashokgroup.com and www.tenders.gov.in, the tenderer should enclose the cost of tender document by demand draft in favour of Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok, Guwahati for an amount of Rs.500/- (Non Refundable). This should be submitted in a separate sealed envelope superscribed Envelope No.1, Cost of Tender Document for the work of Renovation and Extension of Board Room for Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok, Guwahati. Tenderers are advised to inspect and examine the site and its surroundings and satisfy themselves before submitting their tenders as to the nature of the ground and sub-soil, the form and nature of the site, the means of access to the site, the accommodation they may require and in general shall themselves obtain all necessary information as to risks, contingencies and other circumstances which may influence or effect the tenderer. A tenderer shall be deemed to have full knowledge of the site, whether he inspects it or not and no extra charges consequent on any misunderstanding or otherwise shall be allowed. Submission of a tender by a tender implies that he has read this notice and all other contract documents and has made himself aware of the scope and specifications of the work to be done and of conditions and rates at which stores, tools, plant etc. will be issued to him by the corporation and local conditions and other factors bearing on the execution of the works.

A tenderer should quote the rate(s) of tender in figures as well as in word. The amount for each item should be worked out and the requisite totals given. Special care shall be taken to write rates in figures as well as in words and the amounts in figures only in such a way that interpolation is not possible. The total amount shall be written both in figure and in words. In case of figures, the work Rs should be written before the figure of rupees and the word Paise after the decimal figures, e.g. Rs.2.15 p, and in case of words Rupees should precede and the word Paise should be written at the end. Unless the rate is in whole rupees followed by the word only it should invariably be up to two places of decimal. All rates shall be quoted on the tender form. In the case of item rate tenders, only rates quoted shall be considered. Any tender containing percentage below/above the rates quoted is liable to be rejected. The tender for the works shall not be witnessed by a Contractor or Contractors who himself themselves has/have tendered or who may and has/have tendered for the same works. Failure to observe this condition shall render the tender of the Contractor tendering as well as to those witnessing the tender liable to rejection. The tender shall be accompanied by earnest money of Rs 30460/- (Rupees Thirty Thousand Four Hundred Sixty) only in crossed Bank Draft only issued in favour of Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok, Guwahati by State Bank of India or a Nationalized Bank or any Scheduled Bank. The tender shall be received by AM (E&M), Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok, through tender box on the 05/06/2012 up to 03.00 PM and shall be opened at 3.30 PM on the same day in the presence of tenderers who may be present. In case the tender is downloaded from website then submission of tender shall be as under. Sealed envelope 1 shall contain draft for tender cost (Non-Refundable) & draft for Earnest Money Deposit of related work. The envelope should be superscribed as ENVELOPE-1 along with name of work-tender cost & EMD. Tenders without the earnest money and cost of tender if any will be summarily rejected. Sealed envelope 2 marked as technical bid shall contain all the required documents as listed at 5.1 to 5.11. The envelope shall be superscribed as ENVELOPE 2 Technical bid for the work of Renovation and Extension of Board Room for Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok, Guwahati. A separate sealed envelope 3 shall contain the tender documents each page duly signed & stamped with prices as specified in this NIT. The envelope shall be superscribed as Envelope 3 Priced tender documents for the work of Interior & Furniture including Internal Electrification of Board Room for Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok, Guwahati. All the 3 sealed envelopes should be put in a separate sealed superscribed as tender documents in 3 envelopes for the work of Renovation and Extension of Board Room for Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok, Guwahati downloaded from the website due on Technical bid (Envelop 2) & price tender (Envelop 3) should be submitted in bound form. On acceptance of tender, the earnest money will be treated as part of the security.

19.0 The tenderer, whose tender is accepted, shall permit Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok at the time of making any payment to him for work done under the Contract to deduct towards security deposit such sum amounting to 10% of the gross amount of the bill till the sums so deducted amount to Rs. 5 lacs. 20.0 Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok will return the earnest money, where applicable to every unsuccessful tenderer on production by the tenderer of a certificate of the Architect/Project Engineer that all tender documents have been returned. 21.0 A tenderer shall submit the tender that satisfies each and every condition laid down in this notice, failing which, the tender will be liable to be rejected. 22.0 Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok do not bind themselves to accept the lowest or any tender or to give any reasons for the decision. 23.0 Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok reserve to themselves the right of accepting the whole or any part of the tender and tenderer shall be bound to perform the same at his quoted rates. 24.0 Sales Tax or any other tax on materials in respect of this contract shall be payable by the contractor and the corporation will not entertain any claim whatsoever in this respect. 25.0 This notice of tender shall form part of the contract documents. 26.0 The validity of the tender(s) shall be up to 90 (ninety) days from the date of opening of Tender(s). 27.0 The use of whitener/eraser in this tender document is prohibited. While filling the tender papers, if any correction becomes necessary, the same should be done by SCORING OFF originally written rates/figures etc. and then rewriting should be done under initials of person filling the tender. 28.0 Service Tax Registration (if applicable) required before award of work. 29.0 An undertaking by the agency shall be given to the effect that they will engage staff and labour of good moral character only at site and will ensure watch and ward and discipline of his employees. Suitable action will be taken against the agency if any deviation is noticed on this account. 30.0 The contractor shall be solely responsible for complying with all the previsions of the EPF, miscellaneous provisions Act 1952 and in the event of any liability on Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok by virtue of its being principal employer due to failure of the contractor to comply with the said Acts, the contractor shall indemnify and reimburse the amount payable by Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok on this account. The must have the EPF registration nos. 31.0 For consumption of water and electricity at site, if requested by the agency, the same shall be arranged by Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok (subject to their existence at working site) at one mutually convenient point. Necessary extension of this supply will have to be got extended by the agency at their own cost. For this supply of water & electricity, recovery @ % (half percent) for each (total to ONE percent) of the value of actual work done shall be made progressively from the running as well as final bill. General Conditions of Contract and Standard Contract Forms for ENGINEERING Works
Interpretation and Definitions Singular and Plural 1. Where the context so requires, words importing the singular only also include the plural and vice versa. Heading and Marginal Notes to Conditions 2. Heading and marginal notes to these General Conditions shall not be deemed to form part thereof or be taken into consideration in the interpretation or construction thereof or of the Contract Definitions 3 (a) "HBA" shall mean the Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok having its registered office at M.G. Road, Guwahati-781001, in the State of Assam and includes a duly authorized representative of the Hotel or any other person empowered in this behalf by the Hotel to discharge all or any of its functions. (b) (c) The "Accepting Authority" shall mean the AM (E&M) or his nominee on behalf of the Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok. The "Contract" shall mean the notice inviting tender, the tender and acceptance thereof and the formal agreement, if any, executed between the Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok and the Contractor together with the documents referred therein including these conditions with appendices and any special conditions, the specifications, design, drawing, schedule of quantities with rates and amounts and schedule of rates. All these documents taken together shall be deemed to form one Contract and shall be complementary to one another. The "Contractor" shall mean the individual or firm or company whether incorporated or not, undertaking the works and shall include legal representatives of such individuals or persons composing such firm or unincorporated company, or successors of such firm or company as the case may be and permitted assigns of such individual or firm or company. The "Contract Sum" shall mean: In the case of Item Rate Contract the cost of work arrived at after extension of the quantities shown in Schedule of Quantities by the item rates quoted by the tenderer for the various items. A "Day" shall mean a day of 24 hours from midnight to midnight irrespective of the number of hours worked in the day.

(g.1) "Project Engineer" /"Assistant Engineer" shall mean the Engineering Officer appointed by the Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok, who shall direct supervise and be in charge of the works for purposes of this contract, and maintain liaison with the architect(s).

(g.2) "Architect(s)/Consultant(s)" shall mean the person/persons practicing as such and duly appointed by the Accepting Authority for the Works under a separate Agreement getting out the Architects(s)/Consultant(s) responsibilities and terms. (g.3) "Clerk of Works" shall mean the engineer appointed at the Works by the Accepting Authority to represent the Architect(s). (h) "Excepted Risks' are risks due to riots (otherwise than among Contractor's employees) and civil commotion (in so far as both these are uninsurable), war (whether declared or not), invasion, act of foreign enemies, hostilities, civil war, rebellion, revolution, insurrection, military or usurped power, any acts of Government, damage from aircraft, act of God, such as earthquake, lightning and unprecedented floods and other causes over which the Contractor has no control and accepted as such by the Accepting Authority or causes solely due to use or occupation by Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok of the completion has been issued or a cause solely due to Hotel Brahmaputra Ashoks faulty design of Works. "Market Rate" shall be the rate as decided by the Project Engineer on the basis of the cost of materials inclusive of any taxes, Octroi or such statutory imposition, at the time of work, and cost of labour at the site where the work is to be executed plus the percentage mentioned in Schedule 'F' to cover all overheads, supervision and profit. Schedule (s) referred to in these conditions shall mean the standard schedule of rates prescribed by the Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok and the amendments thereto issued from time to time. The "Site" shall mean the lands and/ or other places on, under, in or through which the work is to be executed under the Contract including any other lands or places which may be allotted by the Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok or used for the purposes of the Contract. "Temporary Works" shall mean all temporary works of every kind required in or about the execution, completion or maintenance of the works. "Urgent Works" shall mean any urgent measures, which in the opinion of the Project Engineer, become necessary during the progress of the works to obviate any risk of accident or failure or which become necessary for security. A "Week" shall mean seven days without regard to the number of hours worked in any day in that week. The "Works" shall mean the works to be executed in accordance with the Contract or part (s) thereof as the case may be and shall include all extra or additional, altered or substituted works or temporary and urgent works as required for performance of the Contact.

Scope of Performance Contract Documents 4. 4.1 The Contractor shall be furnished, free of charge one certified true copy of the Contract Document and of all further drawings, which may be issued during the progress of the Works. The Contractor shall use none of these documents for any purpose other than Contract. that of this

Works to be carried out 5. The work to be carried out under the Contract shall except as otherwise provided in these conditions, include all labour, materials, tools, plant, equipment, and transport which may be required in preparation of and for and in the full and entire execution and completion of the Works. The descriptions given in the Schedule of Quantities shall unless otherwise stated, be held to include wastage on materials, carriage and cartage, and return of empties hoisting, setting, fitting and fixing in position and all other labour necessary in and for the full and entire executor and completion as aforesaid in accordance with goods practice and recognized principles. The Contractor shall inspect and examinee the Site and its surroundings and shall satisfy himself before submitting his tender as to nature of the ground and subsoil (as for as is practicable), the form and nature of the Site, the quantities and nature of work and materials necessary for (the completion of the Works and means of access to the site, the accommodation he may require and in general shall himself obtain all necessary) information as to risks, contingencies and other circumstances which may influence or affect his tender. No extra charges consequent on any misunderstanding or otherwise shall be allowed. The Contractor shall be deemed to have satisfied himself before tendering as to the correctness and sufficiency of his tender for the Works and of the rate and price quoted in the Schedule of Quantities, which rates and prices shall, except as otherwise provided cover all his obligations under the Contract and all matter and things necessary for the proper completion and maintenance of the Works. Discrepancies and Adjustment of Errors 8. The Several documents forming the Contract are to be taken as mutually explanatory of one another, detailed drawings being followed in preference to small drawings and figured dimensions in preference to scale and Special Conditions in preference to General Conditions. In the case of discrepancy between Schedule of Quantities, the Specifications and/or the Drawings, the following order of preference shall be observed: (a) (b) (c) (d) Description in Schedule of Quantities. If there are varying or conflicting provisions made in any one document forming part of the Contract, the Accepting Authority shall be the deciding authority with regard to the intention of the document. Any error in description, quantity or rate in Schedule of Quantities or any omission there from shall not vitiate the Contract or release the Contractor from the execution of he whole or any party of the works comprised therein according to drawings and specification or from any of his obligations under the Contract. If on check there are found to be differences between the rates given by the Contractor in words and figures or in the amount worked out by him in the Schedule of Quantities and General Summary, the same shall be adjusted in accordance with the following rules: In the event of a discrepancy between description in words and figures quoted by a tenderer, the rate, which corresponds to the amount worked out by the Contractor, shall be taken as correct. When the Contractor does not work out the amount of an item, or it does not correspond to the rate written either in figures or in words, the rate quoted by the Contractor is WORDS shall be taken as correct. In the event of an error occurring in the amount column of Schedule of Quantities as a result of wrong extension of the unit rate and quantity the UNIT RATE shall be regarded, as firm and extension shall be amended on the basis of the rate. All errors in totaling in the amount column and carrying forward totals shall be corrected. The totals of various sections of Schedule of Quantities as amended shall be carried over to the General Summary and the tendered sum amended accordingly. The tendered sum so altered shall, for the purpose of the tender, be substituted for the sum originally tendered and considered for acceptance instead of the original sum quoted by the tenderer. Any rounding off of totals in various section of the Schedule of Quantities or in General Summary by the tenderer shall be ignored. Security Deposit

9. (a) The contract shall permit the Corporation at time of making any payment to him for work done under the Contract to deduct such sums as will along with the amount of earnest money already deposited amount to 10 percent of the gross amount of the bill till the sums deducted amount to the maximum of Rs.5 lacs. 9. (b) When the security deposit reaches a limit of Rs. 1,00,000/- the Contractor, if so desires, may convert the amount into Bank Guarantee from any scheduled bank. The validity of this Bank Guarantee shall extent up to the expiry of Defects Liability Period. This shall further be subject to the condition that at least one fourth of the total Security Deposit shall remain in cash from until the expiry of the Defects Liability period.

9. (c) All compensations or other sums of money payable by the Contractor under the terms of this Contract or any other Contract or any other account whatsoever may be deducted from or paid by the sale of a sufficient part of this security deposit or from the interest arising there from or from any sum which may be due or become due to the Contractor by the Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok on any account whatsoever and in event of his security deposit being reduced by reasons of any deduction or sale as aforesaid, the Contractor shall within fourteen days of receipt of notice of demand from the Project Engineer make good the deficit. 9. (d) Refund of Security Deposit One half of the security deposit refundable to the Contractor worked out on the basis of the value of work completed shall be refunded to the Contractor on the Architect's and/or project Engineer certifying in writing that the work has been completed as per Condition 28.1hereof. 9. (e) On expiry of the Defects Liability Period the Architects and /or Project Engineer shall, on demand from the Contractor, refund to him remaining portion of the security deposit provided the Project Engineer is satisfied that there is no demand outstanding against the Contractor. Deviations / Variations Extent and Pricing 10. The Architects and /or Project Engineer shall have power (i) to make alterations in, omissions from, additions to, or substitution for, the original specifications, drawings, designs and the instruction that may appear to him to be necessary or advisable during the progress of the work, and (ii) to omit a part of the works in case of non-availability of a portion of Site or for any other reason, and the Contractor shall be bond to carry out the Works in accordance with any instruction given to him in writing signed by the Project Engineer and such alterations, omissions, additions or substitutions shall form part of the Contract as if originally provided therein any altered, additional or substituted work which the Contractor may be directed to do in the manner above specified as part of works, shall be carried out by the Contractor on the same conditions in all respect including price on which he agreed to do the main work except as hereinafter provided. No work which radically changes the original nature of the Contract shall be ordered by the Architect / Project Engineer as a deviation and in the event of any deviation being ordered which in the opinion of the Contractor changes the original nature of the contract, he shall nevertheless carry it out and the disagreement as to the nature of the work and the rate to be paid therefore shall be resolved in accordance with Conditions 49 The time for completion of the work shall, in the event of any deviations resulting in additional cost over the Contract Sum being ordered be extended as follows, id requested by the Contractor. (a) in the proportion which the original cost of the altered, additional, or substituted work, bears to the originals Contract Sum; plus (b) 25% of the time calculated in (a) above or the Project Engineer may consider such further additional time as reasonable.

Extra Items 11. (a) (i) Extra Items : The rates of all authorized extra items, or additional, altered or substituted work, shall be worked out as follows: If the rate for additional, altered or substituted item of work is specified in the Schedule of Quantities, the Contractor shall carry out the additional, altered or substituted item at the same rate. In the case of composite tenders, where two or more schedules of quantities may form part of the Contract, the applicable rate shall be taken from the schedule of quantities of that particular part in which deviation is involved, failing that at the lowest applicable rate for the same item of work in the other schedule of quantities. If the rate for any altered, additional or substituted item of work is not specified in the Schedule of Quantities, the rate for that item shall be derived from the rate for the nearest similar item specified therein. In the case of composite tenders, where two or more schedules of quantities may form part of the Contract, the applicable rate shall be taken from the schedule of quantities of that particular part in which deviation is involved, failing that at the lowest applicable rate for the same item of work in the other schedule of quantities. If the rate for any altered, additional or substituted item of work cannot be determined the manner specified in sub-paras (i) and (ii) above, then such item of work shall be carried out at the rate entered in the latest APWD Schedule of Rates PLUS OR MINUS the percentage by which the tendered amount of works actually awarded is higher or lower than the estimated amount of the work actually awarded. Where the rates cannot be derived in the manner (i) to (iii) above, the same shall be worked out on the basis of Market Rates or actual expenditure incurred in execution of the item inclusive of 15% Contractor's profit, overheads and supervision charges. The Contractor shall, within 14 days with the date of receipt of an order to carry out the above work, or within 14 days after having carried out the above work submit the rates which he proposes to claim for such item of work, supported by rate analysis and vouchers. The Architect/Project Engineer shall communicate to the Contractor the rates admissible for these items. Suspension of Works 12. (a) The Contractor shall, on receipt of order in writing of the Project Engineer, suspend the progress of the works or any part thereof for such times in such a manner as the Project engineer may consider necessary for any of the following reasons: On account of any default on part of the Contractor; or For proper execution of the works or part thereof for reasons other than the default of the Contractor; or For safety of the works or part thereof.

The Contractor shall, during such suspension, properly protect and secure the works to the extent necessary and carry out the instruction given in that behalf by the Project Engineer 12. (b) (i) If the suspension is ordered for the reason (ii) and (iii) in sub-para (a) above: The Contractor shall be entitled to an extension of time equal to the period of every such suspension PLUS 25%. The time allowed for execution of the Works, or the extended time in accordance with these conditions shall be the essence of the Contract. The work shall commence from 07th day after the date of work order issued by the Architect/ Project Engineer, or from the date of handing over of the site whichever is later. If the Contractor commits default in commencing the work as aforesaid, the Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok shall without prejudice to any other right or remedy be at liberty to forfeit the earnest money absolutely. The Contractor shall agree upon a time and progress charts PERT/CPM Chart ensuring good progress accordingly. If the Works be delayed by:

Time and Extension for Delay 13

(a) Force majeure, or (b) Abnormally bad weather, or (c) Serious loss or damage due to fire, or (d) Civil commotion, local combination of workmen, strike or lockout, affecting any trade employed on the work, or (e) Delay on the part of other contractor or tradesmen engaged by the Corporation in executing work not forming part of the Contract, or (f) non-availability of stores which are the responsibility of the corporation to supply, or (g) non-availability or breakdown of Tool and Plants to be supplied or supplied by the Corporation, or (h) Any other cause which, in the absolute discretion or the authority, is beyond the Contractor's control. Then upon the happening of any such event causing delay, the Contractor shall immediately give notice thereof in writing to the Project Engineer but shall nevertheless use constantly his best endeavors to prevent or make good the delay and shall do all that may be reasonably required to the satisfaction of the project Engineer to proceed with the works. 13.3 Request for extension of time, to be eligible for consideration, shall be made by the Contractor in writing as per 28.3 within fourteen days of the happening of the event causing delay. The Contractor may also, if practicable, indicate in such a request the period for which extension is desired.

In any such case the authority mentioned in the Schedule 'F' may give a fair and reasonable extension of time for completion of work. Such extension shall be communicated to the Contractor by the Architect /Project Engineer in writing within one months of the date of receipt of such request by the Project Engineer/Architect. Plant and Equipment The contractor shall arrange at his own expense all tools, plants and equipments required for the completion of the work, in such numbers or quantity as to meet the time of completion specified. Materials to be provided by the Contractor The Contractor shall arrange at his own expense, provide all materials required for the Works other than those which are to be supplied by the Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok.

15.(a) 1 All materials to be supplied by the Contractor shall be in conformity with the specifications laid down in the Contract and the Contractor shall, if requested by the Project Engineer, furnish proof to the satisfaction of the Project Engineer that the materials so comply. 15.(a) 2. The Project Engineer shall have full powers to require removal of any or all the materials brought to Site by the contractor which are not in accordance with the Contract specifications or do not conform in character or quality of samples approved by him. In case of default on the part of the Contractor in removing rejected materials the Project Engineer shall be at liberty to have them removed by other means. The Project Engineer shall have full powers to procure other proper materials to be substituted for rejected materials and in the vent of Contractor refusing to comply, he may cause the same to be supplied other means. All costs, which may attend upon such removal and/or substitution, shall be borne by then Contractor. 15.(a) 3. All charges on account of Octroi, terminal or sales tax and other duties on materials obtained for the Works from any source (excluding materials supplied by the Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok) shall be borne by the Contractor. 15.(a) 4. The Project Engineer shall be entitled to have tests carried out as specified in the contract for any materials supplied by the Contractor other than those for which, as stated above, satisfactory proof has already been furnished, at the cost of the Contractor and the Contractor shall provide at his expense all facilities which the Project Engineer may require for the purpose. If no tests are specified in the Contract, and such test are required by the Project Engineer, the Contractor shall provide all facilities required for the purpose and the charges for these tests shall be borne by the Contractor only if the tests disclose that the said materials are not in accordance with the provisions of the contract. The cost of the materials consumed in the tests shall be borne by the contractor in all cases except when otherwise provided.

Works to be done by the Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok General: 15.(b) Materials required for the Works, whether brought by the Contractor or supplied by the Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok, shall be stored by the Contractor only at places approved by the Project Engineer. Storage and safe custody of materials shall be the responsibility of the Contractor. 15.(b) 1. Hotel Brahmaputra Ashoks official concerned with the Contract shall be entitled at any time to inspect and examine any materials intended to be used on the Works either on the Site or at factory or workshop or other place(s) where such materials are assembled / fabricated/ manufactured or at any place(s) where these are lying or from where these are obtained and the Contractor shall give such facilities as may be required for inspection and examination. 15.(b) 2. All materials brought to the Site shall become and remains the property of the Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok and shall not be removed off the Site without the prior written approval of the Project Engineer. But whenever the Works are finally completed and advance, if any, is respect of such material is fully recovered, the Contractor shall, at his own expense, forthwith remove from the Site surplus materials, originally supplied by him and upon such removal; the same shall revest and become the property of the Contractor. Labour 16. The Contractor shall employ labour in sufficient numbers either directly or through subcontractors, where such subletting is permitted, to maintain the required rate of progress and of quality to ensure workmanship of the degree specified in the Contract and to the satisfaction of Project Engineer. The Contractor shall not employ in connection with the Works any person who has not completed his fifteen-year of age. The Contractor shall comply with the provisions of the Payment of Wages Act, 1936, Minimum Wages Act., 1948, employers Liability Act., 1968, Workmen's Compensation Act., 1923, Industrial Disputes Act, 1947, Maternity Benefit Act, 1961 and Mines Act, 1952 The Employees State Insurance Act, 1948, Safety Code and Labour Welfare Acts, or rules, or any modification thereof or any other law relating thereto and rules made there under from time to time. The Contractor shall indemnify the Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok against any payments to be made under and for observance of the Regulations aforesaid without prejudice to his right to claim indemnity from his sub-contractors. Setting Out the Works. 17. The Contractor shall provide all labour and setting out apparatus required and set out the Works and be responsible for the accuracy of the same. He shall amend at his own cost any error found at any stage, which may arise through inaccurate setting out.

18 (a) Site Drainage: All waters that may accumulate on his site during the progress of the works or in trenches and excavations from other than the Expected Risks shall be removed from the site to the satisfaction of the concerned engineer and at the contractors expense. 18. (b) Nuisance : The Contractor Shall not at any time do, cause or permit any nuisance on the Site or do anything which shall cause unnecessary disturbance or inconvenience to the owners, tenants or occupiers other properties near the site and to the public generally.

Materials obtained from Excavations: Materials of any kind obtained from excavation on the site shall remain the property of Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok and shall be disposed of as the Competent Authority direct. Treasure Trove, Fossil, etc: All Fossils, coins, articles of value or antiquity and structures and other remains or things or geological or archaeological interest discovered on the site shall be the absolute property of the Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok and the contractor shall take reasonable precautions to prevent his workman or any other person from removing or damaging any such article or thing and shall immediately upon discovery thereof and before removal acquaint the Competent Authority with such discovery and carry out the directions of competent authority as to the disposal of the same at the expense of the Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok. Protection of trees 20. Trees designated by the Competent Authority shall be protected from damage during the Course of he works and earth level within 1 meter of each such tree shall not be changed. Where necessary, such trees shall be protected by providing temporary fencing. Watching and lighting: 21. The contractor shall provide and maintain at his own expense all lights, guards, fencing and watching when and where necessary or required by the Competent Authority for the protection of the works or for the safety and convenience of those employed on the works or the public. Contractor's Supervision 23. The Contractor shall either himself supervise the execution of works or shall appoint a qualified Engineer approved by the Architect / Project Engineer to act in his stead. If the Contractor fails to appoint suitable agent as directed by the Engineer-In-Charge, the Engineer-in-Charge shall have full powers to suspend the execution of works until such date as a suitable agent is appointed and the Contractor shall be held responsible for the delay so caused to the Works. All works embracing more than one process shall be subject to examination and approval at each stage thereof and the Contractor shall give due notice to the Architect/ Project Engineer or his authorized representative when each stage is ready. In default of such notice, the Project Engineer shall be entitled to appraise the quality and extent thereof. No work shall be covered up or put out of view without the approval of the Architect /Project Engineer or his authorized representative and the Contractor shall afford full opportunity for examination and measurement of any work which is about to be covered up or put out of view and for examination of foundation before permanent work is placed thereon. The Contractor shall give due notice to the Project engineer or his authorized representative whenever any such work of foundation ready for examination and the Architect/Project Engineer or his representative shall, without unreasonable delay, unless he considers it necessary and advise the Contractor accordingly, attend for the purpose of examination and measuring such work or of examining such foundations. In the event of the failure of the Contractor to give such notice he shall, if required by the Architect /Project Engineer, uncover such works at the Contractor's expense.

Inspection and Approval 24.

Departmental officers concerned with the Contract shall have powers at any time to inspect and examine any part of the works and the Contractor shall give such facilities as may be required for such inspection and examination. Removal of Workmen The Contractor shall employ in and about the execution of the works only such persons as are skilled and experienced in their several trades and the Architect/Project Engineer shall be at liberty to object to and require the Contractor to remove from the Works any person employed by the Contractor in or about the execution of the Works who in the opinion of project Engineer misconducts himself or s incompetent or negligent in the proper performance of his duties and such persons shall not be employed upon the Works without permission of Architect/ Project Engineer. Uncovering and making good: The Contractors shall uncover any part of the works and/or make openings in or through the same as Competent Authority may inform time to time for his direct verification and shall reinstate and make good such part to the satisfaction of the Competent Authority. If in such part has been covered up or put out of view after being approved by the Competent Authority and is subsequently found on uncovering to be executed in accordance with the Contract, the expense of uncovering and / or making openings in or through reinstating and making good the same shall be born by the corporation. In any other case all such expenses shall be borne by the Contractor. Work during Night or on Sundays and Holidays

Subject to any provisions to the contrary contained in the Contract, if works have to be carried out during nights or on Sundays or on Holidays, permission in writing of the Project Engineer shall be obtained except when the work is unavoidable or absolutely necessary for the safety of life, property or works in which case the Contractor shall immediately advise the Project Engineer accordingly. Completion Certificate As soon as the work is completed, the Contractor shall give notice of such completion to the Project Engineer and within 45 days of receipt of such notice the Project Engineer shall inspect the work and shall furnish the Contractor with a certificate of completion indicating (a) the date of completion, (b) defects to be rectified by the Contractor, and/or (c) items for which payment shall be made at reduced rates, when separate periods of completion have been specified for item or groups of items the project Engineer shall issue separate completion certificate for such items or group of items. No certificate of completion shall be issued, nor shall the work be considered to be completed till the Contractor shall have removed from the premises on which the work has been executed all scaffoldings, sheds and surplus materials, except such as are required for rectification of defects, rubbish and all huts and sanitary arrangements required for his workmen on the Site in connection with the execution of work, and cleaned floor, gutters and drains, eased doors and sashes, oiled locks and fastenings labeled keys clearly and handed them over to the Project Engineer or his representative and made the whole premises fit for immediate occupation or use to the satisfaction of the Project Engineer.

If at any time before the completion of the entire work, items or groups of items for which separate periods of completion have been specified, have been completed, the Architect/Project Engineer, with the consent of the Contractor, takes possession of any part or parts of the same (any such part(s) being hereinafter in this condition referred to as "the relevant part") then not withstanding anything expressed or implied elsewhere in the Contract: (a) Within thirty days of the date completion of such item or groups of items or of possession of relevant part, the Project Engineer shall issue completion certificate for the relevant part as in Condition 30 provided the Contractor fulfills his obligations under that Condition for the relevant part. The Defects Liability period in respect of such items and the relevant part shall be deemed to have commenced from the certified date of completion of such item or relevant part as the case may be.

For the purpose of ascertaining compensation for delay under Condition 28 in respect of any period during which the Works are not complete, the relevant part will be deemed to form a separate item or group, with date of completion as given in the Contract or as extended under Condition 13 and actual date of completion as certified by the Project Engineer under this Condition. Hindrance Register A Hindrance Register shall be maintained at the site of work showing the items affected, the date on which the delay occurred and the date on which the delay was cleared. These entries shall be initialed by the Project Engineer as well as the Contractor's authorized representative. The Hindrance Register shall also be inspected by the Architect during their inspection of work and initialed in token thereof. Request for extension shall be made as per Performa enclosed in the Contract. If the Contractor fails to maintain the required progress in terms of Condition 13 or to complete the work and clear the site on or before the Contract or extended date-period of completion, he shall, without prejudice to any other right or remedy of the Corporation on account of such breach, pay as agreed compensation amount calculated as stipulated below or such smaller amounts as may be fixed by the authority mentioned in Schedule 'F' on the Contract value of work for every week that the progress remains below that specified in Condition 13 and 14 or that the work remains incomplete. This will also apply to items or group of items for which separate period of completion has been specified 1% (one percent) of the Contract amount subject to maximum of Rs 50,000/- per week or a part thereof for the four weeks of delay and subsequent delays for every week or part thereof amount shall be 2% of the contract amount subject to a maximum of Rs 100,000.00 (Rupees One Lac) per week. Total compensation for delay shall further be subject to an overall maximum of 15% of the contract amount as awarded. The decision of the Competent Authority shall be final and binding.

Compensation for Delay 29.

The amount of compensation may be adjusted or set off against any sum payable to the Contractor under this or any other contract with the Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok.

Defects Liability Period

The Contractor shall be responsible to make good and remedy at his own expense within such period as may be stipulated by the Project Engineer nay defect which develop or may be noticed before the expiry of the period mentioned in Schedule 'F' hereto from the certified date completion and intimation of which has been sent to the Contractor within seven days of the expiry of the said period by a letter sent by hand delivery or by registered post.

30.1 Buildings, Sanitary Works, water supply works, electrical works, plant & machinery, furniture, roads and drainage, etc ONE YEAR from the date of completion. Contractor's Liability and Insurance 31. From commencement to completion of the Works, the Contractor shall take full responsibility for the care thereof and for taking precaution to prevent loss or damage and to minimize loss or loss to the greatest extent possible and shall be liable for any damage or loss that may happen to Works or any part thereof and all Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok T&P from any cause whatsoever (save and except the Excepted Risks) and shall at his own cost repair and make good the same so that at completion, the Works and all Hotel Brahmaputra Ashoks T&P shall be in good order and condition and in conformity in every respect with the requirements of the Contract and instruction of the Project Engineer. The Contractor shall indemnify and keep indemnified the Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok against all losses and claims for injuries and damage to any person or property whatsoever which may arise out of or in consequence of the construction and maintenance of the Works and against all claims, demands,, proceedings, damages, costs, charges and expenses whatsoever in respect of or in relation thereto. Provided always that nothing herein contained shall be deemed to render the Contractor liable for or in respect of or to indemnify the Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok against any compensation of damage caused by the Excepted Risks. Before commencing execution of the work, the Contractor shall, without in any way limiting his obligations and responsibilities under this condition, insure against any damage, loss or injury which may occur to any property (excluding that of the Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok but including the Hotel Brahmaputra Ashoks building rented by the Contractor wholly or in a part and any part of which is used by him for storing combustible materials), or to any person (including any employee of the Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok) by or arising out of the Contract. The Contractor shall at all times indemnify the Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok against all claims, damages or compensation under the provisions of Payment of Wages Act 1936, Minimum Wages Act 1948, Employer's Liability Act 1938, Workmen's Compensation Act 1923, Industrial Disputes Act 1947 and the Maternity Benefit Act, 1961, or any other modifications thereof or any other law relating thereto and rules made there under from time to time as a consequence or any accidental injury to any workmen or other person in or about the Works, whether in the employment of the Contractor or not, save and except where such accident or injury has resulted from any act of Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok, his agents or servants and also against all costs, charges and expenses of any suit, action or proceedings arising out of such accident or injury and against all sum or sums which may, with the consent of Contractor, b paid to compromise or compound and claim. Without limiting his obligations and liabilities as above provided, the Contractor shall insure against all claims, damages or compensations payable under the Workmen's Compensation Act 1923 or any modification thereof or any other law relating thereto. The aforesaid insurance policy/policies shall provide that they shall not be cancelled till the Architect / Project Engineer has agreed to their cancellation.

The Contractor shall prove to the Architect/Project Engineer from time to time that he has taken out all the insurance policies reference to above and has paid the necessary premiums for keeping the policies alive till expiry of the Defects liability Period. The Contractor shall ensure that similar insurance policies are taken out by his sub-contractors (if any) and shall be responsible for any claims or losses to Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok resulting from their failure to obtain adequate insurance protection in connection thereof. The Contractor shall produce or cause to be produced by his sub-contractors (if any) as the case may be, the relevant policy or policies and premium receipts as ands when required by the Architect/ Project Engineer. The Contractor and/or his sub-contractor (if any)shall fail to effect and keep in force the insurance referred top above or any other insurance which he/they may be required to effect under the terms of the Contract then an in any such case Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok may, without being bound to effect and keep in force any such insurance and pay such premium or premiums as may be necessary for that purpose and from time to time deduct the amount so paid by the Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok from any money dues or which may become due to Contractor or recover the same as a debt due from the Contractor. Facilities to Other Contractors The Contractor shall, in accordance with the requirements of the Architect/project Engineer afford all reasonable facilities to other contractors engaged contemporaneously of separate contracts in connection of with the Works and for departmental labour and labour of any other properly authorized authority or statutory body which may be employed at the Site on execution of any work not included in the Contract or of any contract which Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok may enter into in connection with ancillary to the works. Notices to Local Bodies The Contractor shall comply with and give notices required under Governmental Authority, instrument, rule or order made under any Act or Parliament. State Laws or any regulation or byelaws of any local authority relating to the Works. He shall before making any variation from the Contract drawings necessarily by such compliance give to the Architect/Project Engineer a written notice giving reasons for the proposed variation and obtain the Project Engineer's instruction. The Contractor shall pay and indemnify Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok against any liability in respect of any fees or charges payable under any Act of Parliament, State Laws or nay Government instrument, rule of order and any regulation or byelaws of any local authority in respect of the Works. Sub-Contracts The Contractor shall not sublet any portion of the Contract without the prior written approval of the Accepting Authority. Instruction and Notices Subject as otherwise provided in this Contract, all notices to be given on behalf of Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok and all other actions to be taken on its behalf may be given or taken by the Architect/Project Engineer or any officer fro the time being entrusted with the functions, duties and powers of the Architect/Project Engineer.

All instructions, notices and communications etc., under the Contract shall be given in writing and if sent by registered post to the last known place of abode or business of the Contractor shall be deemed to have been served on the date when in ordinary course of post these would have been delivered to him. The Contractor or his agent shall be in attendance at the Site(s) during all working hours and shall superintend the execution of Works with such additional assistance in each trade as the Architect/Project Engineer may consider necessary. Orders given to the Contractor's Agent shall be considered to have the same force as if they have been given to the Contractor himself. The Project Engineer shall communicate or confirm his instructions to the Contractor in respect of the execution of work in a "Work Site Order Book" maintained in the office of Architect/Project Engineer and the Contractor or his authorized representative shall confirm receipt of such instructions by signing the relevant entries in this book. If required by the Contractor, he shall be furnished a certified true copy of such instruction(s). Foreclosure of Contract in Full or in Part due to abandonment or reduction in Scope of Work

If any time after acceptance of the tender Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok shall decide to abandon or reduce the scope of the Works for nay reason whatsoever and hence not require the whole or any part of the Works to be carried out, the Architect/Project Engineer shall give notice in writing to that effect to the Contractor and the Contractor shall have no claim to nay payment or compensation or otherwise whatsoever, on account of any profit or advantage which he might have derived from the execution of the Works in full but which he did not derive in consequence of the foreclosure of the whole or part of the Works. The Contractor shall be paid at Contract rates full amount for works executed at Site and in addition, a reasonable amount as certified by the Project Engineer for the terms hereunder mentioned which could not be utilized on the work to the full extent because of the foreclosure: Any expenditure incurred on preliminary Site work e.g. temporary access roads, temporary labour huts, staff quarters and Site office; storage accommodation and water storage tanks. (i) Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok shall have the option to take over Contractor's materials or any part thereof either brought to Site or of which the Contractor is legally bound to accept delivery from suppliers (for incorporation in or incidental to the works), provided however, Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok shall be bound to take over the materials or such portions thereof as the Contractor does not desires to retain. For materials taken over by Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok, cost of such materials. The cost shall, however, take into account purchase price, cost of transportation and deterioration or damage which may have been caused to materials whilst in the custody of the Contractor. (ii) For the Contractor's materials not retained by Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok, reasonable cost of transporting such materials from Site to Contractor's permanent store or his other works, whichever is less. If materials are not transported either of the said places, no cost of transportation shall be payable. If any material supplied by Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok are required surplus, the same except normal wastage shall be returned by the Contractor to Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok at rates not exceeding those at which these were originally issued less allowance foe nay deterioration or damage which may have been caused whilst the materials in custody of the Contractor. addition, cost of transporting such materials from Site to Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok store, if so required by Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok. (d) Reasonable compensation for transfer of T&P from Site to Contractor's permanent stores or to his other works, whichever is less, if T&P are not transported to either of the said places, no cost of transportation shall be payable. The Contractor shall, if required by the Architect/Project Engineer, furnish to him books of account, wage book, time sheet and other relevant documents as may be necessary to enable him to certify the reasonable amount payable under this Condition. Termination of Contract for Death 37. if the Contractor is an individual or a proprietary concern and the individual or the proprietor dies and if the Contract is a partnership concern and one of partners dies then unless the Accepting Authority is satisfied that the legal representatives if the individual Contractor or of the proprietor of the proprietary concern and in case of partnership, the surviving partners are capable of carrying out and completing the Contract, the Accepting Authority shall be entitled to cancel the Contract as to its uncompleted part without Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok being in anyway liable to payment of any compensation to the estate of the deceased Contractor and/or to the surviving partner of the Contractor's firm on account of the cancellation of Contract. The decision Accepting Authority that the legal representative of the deceased Contractor or the surviving partners of the Contractor's firm cannot carry out and complete the Contract shall be final and binding on the parties. In the event of such cancellation Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok shall not hold the estate of the deceased Contractor and/or surviving partners of the Contractor's firm from liable in damage for not completing the Contract. Cancellation of Contract in Full or in Part 38. If the Contractor: (a) At any times makes default in proceeding with the works with due diligence and continues to do so after a notice in writing of 7 days from the Architect/Project Engineer; or (b) Commits default in complying with any of the terms and conditions of the Contract and does not remedy it or take effective steps to remedy it within 7 days after notice in writing is given to him in that behalf by the Architect/Project Engineer; or (c) Fails to complete the Works or items of work with individual dates of completion, on or before the dates(s) of completion, and does not complete them within the period specified in a notice given in writing in that behalf by the Architect/Project Engineer; or (d) Shall offer or give or agree to give any person Hotel Brahmaputra Ashoks service or to any other person on his behalf any gift or consideration of any kind as an inducement or reward for doing or for bearing to do or to having done or forborne to do any act in relation to the obtaining or execution of this or any other Contract for Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok; or (e) Shall enter into a contract with Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok in connection with which commission has been paid or agreed to be paid by him or to his knowledge, unless the particulars any such commission and the terms of the payment thereof have previously been disclosed in writing to the Accepting Authority /Project Engineer; or (f) Shall obtain a Contract with Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok as a result of ring tendering or other non-bonafide methods of competitive tendering; or (g) Being and an individual, or if a firm, any partner thereof, shall at a time adjudged insolvent or having receiving order or for administration for his estate made against him or shall take any

proceedings for liquidation / composition (other than a voluntary liquidation for the purpose of amalgamation or reconstruction) under any Insolvency Act for the time being in force or make any conveyance or assignment of his effect or composition or arrangement for the benefit of his creditors or purport to do so, or if any application be made under any Insolvency Act for the time being in force for the sequestration of his estate or if a trust deed be executed by him for the benefit of his creditors; or (h) Being a company shall pass a resolution of or the Court shall make an order for the liquidation of its affairs, or receiver or Manager on behalf of the debenture holders shall be appointed or circumstances shall arise which entitles the Court on debenture holders to appoint a receiver or Manager; or (i) Shall suffer and execution being levied on his goods and allow it to be continued for a period of 21 days; or (j) Assigns, transfers, sublets (engagement of labour on a piecework basis or of labour with materials not to be incorporated in the work, shall not be deemed to be subletting) or attempt to assign transfer or sublet the entire Works or any portion thereof without the prior written approval of the Accepting Authority, Accepting Authority may, without prejudice or any other right to remedy which shall have accrued thereafter to Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok by written notice, cancel the Contract as a whole or only such items of work in default from the Contract. 38.1 The Accepting Authority shall on such cancellation have powers to: (a) Take possession of the Site and any materials, constructional plants, implements, stores etc. thereon; and/or (b) Carry out the incomplete work by any mean AT THE RISK AND COST OF THE CONTRACTOR 38.2 On cancellation of the Contract in full or in part, the Architect/Project Engineer shall determine what amount, if any, is recoverable from the Contractor for completion of the Works or part of the Works or in case the Works or part of the Works is not to be completed, the loss or damage suffered by Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok. In determining the amount, credit shall be given to the Contractor for the value of the work executed by him up to the time of cancellation, the value of Contractor's materials taken over and incorporated in the work, and use of tackle and machinery belonging to the Contractor. Any excess expenditure incurred or to be incurred by Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok in completing the Works or part of the works or the excess loss or damages suffered or may be suffered by Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok as aforesaid after allowing such credit shall be recovered from any moneys due to the Contractor on any account, and if such moneys are not sufficient, the Contractor shall be called upon in writing to pay the same within 30 days. If the Contractor shall fail to pay the required sum within the aforesaid period of 30 days, the Architect/Project Engineer shall have the right to sell any or all of the Contractor's temporary buildings etc., and apply the proceeds of sale thereof towards the satisfaction of any sums due from the Contractor under the Contract and if thereafter there be any balance outstanding from the Contractor, it shall be recovered in accordance with the provisions of the Contract. Any sums in excess of the amounts due to Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok and unsold materials, constructional plants etc., shall be returned to the Contractor, provided always that if cost or anticipated cost of the completion by Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok of the Works or part of the works is less than the amount which the Contractor would have been paid had he completed the Works or part of the Works.

Liability for Damages, Defects or Imperfections and rectification thereof 39. If the Contractor or his workmen or employees shall injure or destroy any part of the building in which they may have been working or any building, road, fence etc. contiguous to the premises on which the work or any part of it is being executed, or if any damages shall happen to the work while in the progress the Contractor shall, upon receipt of notice in writing in that behalf, make the same good at his own expense. If it appears to the Architect/Project Engineer or his representative at any time during the construction or re-construction or prior to the expiration of the DEFECTS LIABILITY PERIOD, that any work has been executed with unsound, imperfect or unskilled workmanship or that any material or materials or articles provided by the Contractor for execution of the Works or unsound or of a faulty or inferior to that contracted for, or otherwise not in accordance with the Contract, or that any defect, shrinkage or pother faults have appeared in the work or arising out of defective or improper materials or workmanship, the Contractor shall upon receipt of a notice in writing in that behalf from the Architect/ Project Engineer, forthwith rectify or remove and reconstruct the work so specified in the whole or in part, as the case may require or as the case may be, and/or remove the materials or article so specified and provide other proper and suitable materials or articles at his own expense, notwithstanding that the same may have been inadvertently passed, certified and paid for and in the event of his failing to do so within the PERIOD TO BE SPECIFIED by the Architect/Project Engineer in his notice aforesaid, the Project Engineer may rectify or remove and replace with others in the materials or articles complained of, as the case may, by other means AT THE RISK AND EXPENSE OF THE CONTRACTOR. In case of repairs and maintenance works, splashes and droppings from white washing, painting, etc, shall be removed and surfaces cleaned simultaneously with completion of these items of work in individual rooms, quarters or premises, etc. where the work is done, without waiting for completion of all other items of work in the contract. In case the contractor fails to comply with the requirements of this condition, the Competent Authority shall have the right to get the work done by other means at the cost of the Contractor. Before taking such action, however, the Competent Authority shall give three days notice in writing to the Contractor. Urgent Works 40. If any urgent work (in respect whereof the decision of the Architect/Project Engineer shall be final and binding) become necessary and the Contractor is unable or unwilling at once to carry it out, the Architect/ Project Engineer may, by his own or other working people, carry it out as he may consider necessary. If the urgent work shall be such as the Contractor is liable under the Contract to carry out at his expense, all expenses incurred on it by Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok shall be recoverable from the Contractor and be adjusted for set-off against any sum payable to him.

Changes in Constitution 41. Where the Contractor is a partnership firm, prior approval in writing of the Accepting Authority shall be obtained before any change is made in the constitution of the firm. Where the Contractor is an individual or a Hindu Undivided gamily Business concern such approval as aforesaid shall; likewise be obtained before the Contractor enters into any partnership agreement where under the partnership firm would have the right to carry out the Work hereby undertaken by the Contractor. If prior approval as aforesaid is not obtained the Contract shall be deemed to have been assigned in contravention of Condition 36 hereof and the same action may be taken and the same consequences shall ensue as provided for in the said Condition 36 Valuation and Payment Records and Measurement 42. The Architect/Project Engineer shall, except as otherwise stated, ascertain and determine by measurement the value in accordance with the Contract of work done in accordance therewith: All items having a financial value shall be entered in Measurement Book, Level Book, etc. prescribed by Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok so that the complete record is obtained of all work performed under the Contract. Measurements shall be taken jointly by the Clerkof-Works/Project Engineer and by the Contractor or his authorized representative. Before taking measurements of any work the Project Engineer or the person deputed by him for the purpose shall give a reasonable notice to the Contractor. If the Contractor fails to attend or send an authorized representative for measurements after such a notice or fails to countersign or to record the objection within a week from the date of measurements then in any such event measurements taken by the Clerk-of-Works / Project Engineer or by the person deputed by him shall be taken to be correct measurements of the works. The Contractor shall, without extra charge, provide assistance with every appliance, labour and other things necessary for measurement. Measurements shall be signed and dated by both the parties each day on the Site on completion of measurements. If the Contractor object to any of the measurements recorded on behalf of Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok, a note to that effect shall be made in the Measurement Book against the item objected too and such note shall be signed and dated by both the parties engaged in taking the measurements. Methods of Measurement 43. Except where any general or detailed description of the work in quantities expressly shows to the contrary, Schedule of Quantities shall be deemed to have been prepared and measurements shall be taken in accordance with the procedure set forth in the Schedule of Rates / Specification notwithstanding any provision in the relevant standard method of the measurement or any general or local custom. In the case of items which are not covered by th4 Schedule of Rates / Specifications, measurements shall be taken in accordance with the relevant standard method of measurement issued by the Bureau of Indian Standards.

Payment on Account 44 Interim bills shall be submitted by the Contractor at intervals mentioned in Schedule F on or before the date fixed by the Competent Authority for the work executed. The Competent Authority shall then arrange to have the bill verified by the lacing or causing to be taken, where necessary the requisite measurement of the work. Payment on account for amount admissible shall be made on the concerned engineer certifying the sum to which the contractor is considered entitled by way of interim payment for the following: a. All works executed, after deducting there from the amounts already paid, the security deposit and such other amount as may be deductible or recoverable in terms of the contract b. 75% of the cost as assessed by the concerned engineer of any materials which are in the opinion of the concerned engineer reasonably required in accordance with contract and have been brought to Site for incorporation in the works and are safeguarded against loss due to any cause whatsoever to the satisfaction of the concerned engineer, but have not been so incorporated, provided the contractor provides an insurance cover for the full cost of PERISHABLE MATERIALS. 44.2 The advance payments under (b) above shall be adjusted as and when materials are utilized in the Works. 44.3 Any interim certificate given relating to work done or materials delivered, may be modified or corrected by any subsequent interim certificate or by the final certificate. No certificate of the No certificate of the concerned engineer supporting an interim Payment shall of itself be conclusive evidence that any work or materials to which it relates is/ are in accordance with the contract. 44.4 Pending consideration of extension of date of completion, interim payments shall continue to be made as herein provided. Time Limit for Payment of Final Bill 45. The final bill shall be submitted by the Contractor WITHIN THREE MONTHS of physical completion of the Works. The Contractor shall make no further claims after submission if the final bill and these shall be deemed to have been waived and extinguished. Payment of those items of the bill in respect of which there is no dispute and of items in dispute, for quantities and at rates as approved by the Architect/Project Engineer, shall be made within the period specified hereunder, the period being reckoned from the date of receipt of the bill by Architect/Project Engineer: (a) Contract amount not exceeding Rs. 5 lakh ---------Four Months (b) Contract Amount exceeding Rs. 5 Lakh ------------ Six Months 45.1 After payment of the amount of the final bill payable as aforesaid has been made, the Contractor may, if he so desire, reconsider his position in respect of the dispute portion of the final bill and if he fails to do so within 90 days, his disputed claim shall be dealt with as provided in the Contract.

Reimbursement in Variation in Price 46. (a) Materials if after submission of the tender and/or during the progress of the work, the price of any materials (not being a material supplied by the Accepting Authority in accordance with the Condition of the Contract) is increased by an Act of Legislature (Central or States) and/or any notification there under or on account of new duties or levies such as octroi or on account of increase in such duties affecting the price of materials required incorporation in the Works or the price of any item to be incorporated in the Works and made from materials of which the price increased as aforesaid and the Contractor has thereupon to pay in respect of such materials or item a price which is higher than the price of that material or item as prevailing before the passing of such Act or Levying, increasing of such duties, Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok shall in case of increase in price or the duty reimburse to the Contractor the increase in price or the additional or increased duty paid by the Contractor. Overpayments and Underpayments 47.1 Whenever any claim for the payment of a sum of money to then Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok arises out of or under this Contract against the Contractor the same may be deducted by Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok from any sum then due or which at anytime thereafter may become due to the Contractor under this Contract and failing that under any other Contract with Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok or from any other sum due to the Contractor from Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok (which may be available with Corporation) or from his security deposit, or he shall pay the claim on demand. Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok reserves the right to carry our post payment, audit, and technical examination of the final bill including all supporting voucher, vouchers, abstracts etc. Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok further reserves the right to enforce recovery of any over payment when deducted notwithstanding the fact that the amount of the final bill may be include by one of the parties as an item of dispute before and arbitrator appointed under Condition 48 of this Contract and notwithstanding the fact that the amount of the final bill figures in the arbitration award. If as result of such audit and technical examination any overpayment is discovered in respect of any work done by the Contractor or alleged to have been done by him under the Contract, it shall be recovered by Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok from the Contractor by any or all of the methods prescribed above or if any underpayment is discovered, the amount shall be duly paid to the Contractor by Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok. Provided that the aforesaid right of Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok to adjust overpayment against amount due to the Contractor under any other Contract with Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok shall not extend beyond the period of two years from the date of payment of the final bill or in case the final bill is a MINUS bill, from the date the amount payable by the Contractor under the MINUS final bill is communicated to the Contractor. Any amount due to the Contractor under this Contract for underpayment may be adjusted against any amount then due or which may at any time thereafter become due before payment is made to the Contractor, from him to Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok on any other Contract or account whatsoever.

Arbitration and Laws of Arbitration 48. Except where otherwise provided for in the Contract all questions and disputes relating to the meaning of the specification, design, drawings and instructions herein before mentioned and as to the quality of workmanship or materials used on the work or as to any other question, claim, right, matter or thing whatsoever in any way arising out or relating to the Contract, design, drawing, specifications, estimates, instructions, orders or these conditions or otherwise concerning the Works, or execution or failure to execute the same whether arising during the progress if the work or after the completion or abandonment thereof shall be referred to the sole arbitration of the Managing Director/Chief Engineer of Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok or any other person appointed by him. There will be no objection of the arbitrator so appointed is an employee of Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok and that he had to deal with the matters to which the Contract relates and that in the course of his duties as such he had expressed views on all or any of the matters in dispute or difference. The arbitrator to whom the matter is originally referred being transferred or vacating this office or being unable to act for any reason, the ** Managing Director /Chief Engineer shall appoint another person to act as arbitrator in accordance with the terms of the contract. Such person shall be entitled to proceed with the reference from the stage at which it was left by his predecessor. It is also a term of this Contract that no person other than a person appointed by the Managing Director/Chief Engineer, as aforesaid should act as arbitrator and if for any reason, that is not possible, the matter is not to be referred to arbitration at/or. In all cases where the amount of the claim in dispute is Rs. 50000/- (Rupees Fifty thousand) and above, the arbitrator shall give reasons for the award. Subject as aforesaid the provision of the Arbitration Act 1940, or any statutory modification or re-enactment thereof and the rules made hereunder and for the time being in force shall apply to the arbitration proceeding under this clause it is a terms of the Contract that the party invoking arbitration shall specify the dispute or disputes to be referred to arbitration under this clause together with the amount or amounts claimed in respect of each such dispute. The arbitrator(s) may from time to time with consent of the parties enlarged the time for making and publishing the award. The work under the Contract shall, if reasonably possible, continue during the arbitration proceedings and no payment due or payable to the Contractor shall be withheld on account of such proceedings. The arbitrator shall be deemed to have entered on the reference on the date he issues notice to both the parties fixing the date of the first hearing. The arbitrator shall give a separate award in respect of each dispute or difference referred to him. The venue of arbitration shall be such laces as may be fixed by the arbitrator in his sole discretion. The award of the arbitrator shall be final, conclusive and binding on all parties to this Contract Laws Governing the Contract 50. ** This contract shall be governed by the Indian Laws for the time being in Force. The authority appointing the arbitrator should not be lower in rank than the Authority accepting the agreement.

SCOPE OF WORK

The contractor shall carry out and complete the work under this contract in every respect in conformity with the stipulation of the Bureau of Indian Standard and with the directions of and to the specification of Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok. The contractor shall furnish all labour material appliance equipment (except those items, which will be supplied by the owner) ; transportation and incidentals necessary for the complete provision, installation testing and commissioning of supply as specified therein. This also include any material appliances equipment and incidental work not specified / mentioned herein or noted on the Drawings / Documents, but ensuring properly connected installation in good working order. 4. COOPERATION / COORDINATION WITH OTHER AGENCIES

During the currency of the contract, a number of contractors may be on site to execute works under their respective contracts viz. structure, finishing works electrical and other service. The contractor shall offer full cooperation to all agencies and coordinate. No claim shall be entertained from the contractor on the plea the work has been executed in the above circumstances or under difficult conditions, it shall be the responsibility of the contractor to enforce necessary discipline among his workers and staff to ensure smooth working at the site in sprit of cooperation and amity with all other agencies. 5. TEMPORARY OFFICES, STORES ETC.

The contractor shall be allowed to put up his temporary offices stores etc. as per designated space by the Engineers Incharge.

Due to constraints of space mentioned above, space allowed for storage of material will be limited and the contractor shall schedule the delivery of the material and equipment at site keeping in mind these restraints. Depending upon the exigencies at the site temporary offices, stores etc. may have to moved or shifted and the contractor shall do so, if so requested by Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok at no extra cost to the Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok. The contractor may be allocated space in the building for his stores, offices etc. depending upon the availability of the space. Necessary partitions blocking of opening doors etc. shall be provided by the contractor at his own expenses. The area to be allocated will be decided by Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok in consultation with the contractor, but the decision of the Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok in this regard shall be final and binding. No material or plants are to be stored inside the building without the prior written consent of the Site Engineer. 6. SITE HAZARD

The contractor shall ensure cleanliness and keep the site free from all debris, hazardous material loose wire open wired and any other material and avoid damage due negligence. 7. TIME OF COMPLETION

The work shall be completed in all respect within 90 days from the 7th day of which Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok issues written order to commence the work or from the date of handing of the site whichever is latter 8. BYE LAWS AND REGULATIONS

The installation shall be in conformity with the Bye-laws and Regulation of the Local authority concerned in so far as these become applicable to the installation but if these specification and drawing call for a higher standard of material and or workmanship than. 9. MANUFACTURES INSTRUCTIONS

Where manufactures have furnished specific instruction relating to the material used in this job covering points not specifically mentioned in these documents such instructions shall be followed in all cases subject to approval of the Engineer In charge. 10. QUIET OPERATION AND VIBRATION

All equipment shall operate under all conditions of load without any sound or vibration, which is objectionable in the opinion of Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok. In case of moving machinery sound or vibration noticeable outside the room in which it is installed, or annoying noticeable inside its own room shall be considered objectionable. Such conditions shall be corrected by the contractor at his own expenses. 11. ACCESSIBILITY

The contractor shall verify the Sufficiency of the size of the shafts and opening of clearance in the cavity walls and suspended ceiling for the proper installation of his ducting piping. His failure to communicate insufficiency of any of the above shall constitute his acceptance to sufficiency of the same. The contractor shall locate all equipment, which must be serviced operated or maintained in fully accessible positions. The contractor shall make all the necessary repairs and changes at his own expenses.

ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION

The electrical works shall be carried out by the contractor through qualified electrician under full supervision of the contractor. The electrical installation shall be in total conformity with the wiring drawings prepared by contractor and approved by Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok equipment shall be connected and tested in the presence of the authorized representative of the contractor and of Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok totally satisfactory and full conformity with the contract drawings specifications and equipment manufacturers instructions. It is clearly understood that the final responsibility for the sufficiency adequacy and conformity to the contract requirement of the electrical installation work for air conditioning services lies solely with the contractor. 13. RATE

The work shall be treated as work contract basis and rates tendered shall be for complete items of work inclusive of all taxes including work contract tax if any duties Octroi, excise, insurance levies packing forwarding etc. Nothing shall be paid extra. Tenderer shall quote the same rate for the same items available in different heads/ sub heads failing which the lowest rate quoted shall be considered for the same items in all heads. For AHR items beyond tendered quantities, lowest rate received among all the tendered shall be paid. In case of reversal of tender on completion of work and preparation of post comparative statement of various agencies who quoted for the work. The overall lowest amount obtained in the post comparative statement shall be payable against the final bill of the working agency Rates shall be quoted inclusive of service tax the contractor shall have to submit the proof of service tax paid against the contract before final bill payments. 14. WATER AND ELECTRICITY

One percent (1%) of the contract amount shall be recovered from each running bill of the contractor towards consumption of water and electricity (0.5% water and 0.5% for electricity), if consumed during erection. 15. PAYMENT TERMS .

TECHNICAL REQUIRMENT FOR RENOVATION AND EXTENSION WORK OF BOARD ROOM AT HOTEL BRAMHAPUTRA ASHOK (CIVIL WORKS) 1.0 SCOPE OF WORK: The scope of work envisaged under this tender covers renovation works of hotel bramhaputa ashoka board room as per tender specifications, drawings and standards etc. In general job shall be done as per APWD (Assam PWD) specifications. However brief specifications are given here under for general guidance purpose of the tenderers. The job scope includes casting of isolated/combined footing and all other building activities including civil / sanitary / plumbing works as spelt out in the detailed drawings and specifications. STANDARD/TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION FOR CONSTRUCTION OF HOTEL BRAMHAPUTRA ASHOKA,BOARD ROOM (CIVIL WORKS) 1.1 SCOPE: The job shall be done as per APWD (Assam PWD) specifications. The specification and the method of measurements described herein are applicable for all the items of works involved in the site. 2.1 GENERAL: All materials used in the work shall conform to the latest revision of the relevant Indian Standard Specifications to the extent practicable. Where no such specifications exist they shall conform to relevant British Standard and /or shall be of the best quality available in the market. Wherever ISI certified materials and products are available these alone shall be used. All materials shall be stored at site in accordance with IS-4082-1977. Unless specially provided for in the contract the tendered rates shall include the cost of carriage, transport, loading, unloading and stacking as directed for all materials required on the work. Where a tender provides a rate for transport of materials, it includes for all loadings, unloading and stacking on the site in such position and manner as the executive engineer or sub-divisional officer shall direct. 3.1 MATERIALS AND WORK SPECIFICATIONS: 1. Cement: The cement used shall be any of the following with the prior approval of EIC. i) ii) Ordinary or Low heat Portland cement conforming to IS-269-1976. High strength ordinary portland cement conforming to IS-8112-1976

The weight of Ordinary Portland cement shall be taken as 1440 kg. Per cum. Cement shall be measured by weight and in whole bags and each undisturbed and sealed 50 kg bag being considered equivalent to 35 ltrs in volume. Cement shall be stored in weatherproof shade with raised wooden plank flooring to prevent deterioration by dampness or intrusion of foreign matter. It shall be stored in such a way as to allow the removal and use of cement in chronological order of receipt, i.e. first received being first used. Cement deteriorated and or clodded shall not be used on work but shall be removed at once from the site. 2. Fine Aggregate: Sand shall conform to relevant portion of IS 515. It shall pasts through an IS sieve 4.75(3/16 BS) test sieve, leaving a residue not more than 5%. It shall be from natural source or crushed stone screening, if allowed. Chemically inert, clean, sharp, hard, durable, well graded and free from dust, clay, shale, large pebles, salt, organic matter, loam mica, or other deleterious matter. The sum of percentage of all such deleterious materials in sand shall not exceed 5% by weight. It shall be washed if directed to reduce the percentage of deleterious substances to acceptable limits. Sand shall not contain any trace of salt and it shall be tested and sand containing any trace of salt shall be rejected. The fine aggregate for concrete shall be graded within limits as specified in IS 383 and the Fineness Modulous may range between 2.60 to 3.20.

The fine aggregate shall be stacked carefully on a clean, hard, dry surface so that it will not get mixed us with deleterious foreign materials. If such a surface is not available a platform of planks or corrugated iron sheets or brick floor or a thin layer of lean concrete shall be prepared. 3. Coarse Aggregate: Shall consist of crushed or broken stone 95% of which shall be retained on 5.75mm IS test sieve. It shall be obtained from crushing Granite, Quartzite, Trap Basalt or similar approved stones from approved quarry and shall conform to IS-383 and IS-515. Coarse aggregate shall be chemically inert when mixed with cement and shall be fairly cubical in shape and free from soft, feeble, thin, porous, laminated or flaky pieces. It shall be free from dust and any other foreign matter. Reinforcement: Reinforcement shall be of mild steel of tested quality conforming to IS-432 (part-I) 1996 and any other applicable or deformed bar conforming to IS-1786-1979 and IS-1139-1966 or hard drawn steel wire fabric conforming to IG 1566-1967. All reinforcement shall be free from cracks, surface flows, laminations, jagged, imperfect edges, loose mill scales, loose rust and coats of paints, oil or other coating which may destroy or reduce bond. 5. Bricks: Bricks shall generally comply with IG-1077 except in size, which shall be conforming to the sizes locally available. Bricks of 75 class designation shall be the best quality locally available, table moulded, well burnt but not over burnt, have plane rectangular face with parallel sides and sharp right angle edges have a fine compact and uniform texture. The bricks shall be free from cracks, chips, flaws, stones or lumps of any kind and shall not show efflorescence either dry or subsequent to soaking in water. It shall emit a clear ringing sound on being struck and shall not absorb water more than 20% by weight. Common building bricks shall have a minimum compressive strength of 35 kg/sq.cm. unless otherwise specifically stated. 6. Water: Water for mixing cement mortar or concrete shall not be salty or blakish and shall be clean, reasonably clear and free from objectionable quantities of silt and traces of oil, acid, injurious alkali, salts, organic matter and other deleterious materials which will either weaken the mortar or concrete or causes efflorescence or attack the steel in reinforced cement concrete. Water shall be obtained from sources approved by the Engineer-in-charge. Potable water is generally considered satisfactory for mixing and curing concrete mortar masonry etc. Where water other than from main source is used this shall be tested in an approved testing laboratory to establish its suitability. All charges connected there with shall be borne by the contractors. Timber: The timber used shall be the best of the kind specified and shall be well seasoned, dry, straight, grained, free from large or loose knots, sapwood or shakes. The woodwork shall be finished to the exact dimensions shown in the drawings or as detailed in the specifications. Windows and doors: Tempered glass with stickers and glass door. Paints and distempers: Oil bound distemper, cement primer, enamel paint, anti-corrosive primer, red lead, water proof cement paint shall be from an approved manufacturer and shall conform to the latest Indian Standards for various paints. Ready mixed paints as received from the manufacturer without any admixture shall be used, except for addition of thinner, if recommended by the manufacturer.

CEMENT MORTAR: Cement mortar shall be of proportions specified for each type of work in the schedule. It shall be composed to Portland cement and sand. The ingredients shall be accurately gauged by measured and shall be well and evenly mixed together in a mechanical pan mixer, care being taken not to add more water than is required. No mortar that has begun to set shall be used. River sand shall be used unless otherwise specified. If hand mixing is allowed it shall be done on pucca waterproof platform. The gauged materials shall be put on the platform and mixed dry water will then be added and the whole mixed again until it is homogeneous and of uniform colour. Not more than one bag of cement shall be mixed at one time and which can be consumed within half an hour of its mixing.

5.1

CONTRACTORS GODOWN: The contractor must make adequate arrangement at his own expense, for the storage in suitable godown of all perishable materials such as cement. On no account may cement be stacked on the ground either in or outside godown.

6.1

PREPARATION OF SITE The land described or shown on the site plan shall be cleared of all obstructions, rubbish, brushwood, jungle and bamboo clumps as directed by the Engineer- In- Charge.

7.1

EXCAVATION OF FOUNDATION i) Trenches for wall foundation, column footings, raft-foundations, pile caps, plinth beams, water tanks, cess pits etc. shall be excavated to the exact length, width and depth shown or figured on the drawing or as may be directed by the Engineer-in-charge. If taken out to greater length, width or depth than shown or required, the extra work occasioned thereby shall be done at contractors expense. Extra depth shall be brought up by plain cement concrete filling 1:4:8 proportion and extra length and width filled in by rammed earth or if the Engineer-in-charge thinks it necessary for the stability of the work by 1:4;8 concrete as may be directed at the contractors cost. Excavated materials shall be used for filling in plinth or each side of the foundation blocks or trenches or it shall be spread elsewhere on or near the site work including watering, ramming and consolidating or removed from site as may be ordered. The contractor shall at his own expense and without extra charge, make provision for supporting all utility services, lighting the trenches, separating and stacking serviceable materials neatly, shorting, timbering, bailing out water either sub-soil or rain water including pumping at any stage of the work. Trenches shall be kept free from water masonry of concrete works are in progress and till the concrete is sufficiently set.

8.1

FILLING: Filling shall be done with approved quality earth. It shall be free from salt, organic matter, black cotton or slushy earth and combustible materials. All clods shall be broken.

8.2

PLINTH FILLING: Plinth filling shall be done in layers not exceeding 25cm watered and consolidated by ramming with iron or wooden rammers weighing 7 to 8 kgs and having base 20cm square or 20cm diameter. When the filling reaches the finished level surface shall be flooded with water for atleast 24 hours, allowed to dry and then rammed and consolidated after making good any settlement in order to avoid settlement at a later stage. Special care shall be taken to pack earth under plinth beams and column corners. Finish level of filling shall be kept to a slope intended to be given to the floor.

SAND FILLING: Where the floor is to be laid on a sand mat over the filling the sand must be laid in course of not greater depth than 150mm and each layer must be saturated with water and levelled true to the exact contour of the finished floor.

9.1

SAND: i) Quality: Sand to be used for mortar or concrete shall be clean, well graded, hard, strong, durable, uncoated grains, free from any deleterious matter such as loam, clay, shells, soft or flaky particles or any organic matter. More than a mere trace of mica is very objectionable. The sand shall be tested for organic and other foreign matter before use. It the percentages of silt and clay matter exceed 5 percent the sand shall be washed before use and retested and shall not be used until the site content is below this figure. ii) Precaution against using damp sand with cement: During the rains or when there is heavy dew, sand for concrete or mortar must be covered in order to keep it dry. Damp sand must not be mixed with cement. Size: For mortar, brickwork or ordinary plaster sand having particle upto 3mm in size may be used. For concrete work the sand shall include all particles from very fine (exclusive of dust) upto those that will pass through a 6mm mesh screen but not more than 10 percent shall be retained on 3mm mesh screen. iv) For finishing coats of fine plaster a smaller grained sand shall be used but on no account may dirt sand, silt or sand of which more than ten percent passes through a screen having two thousand and five hundred (2,500) meshes to the 645 sq.mm be used.

CEMENT : i) Quality: Ordinary Portland cement of an approved make and complying in all respect with the Indian Standard Specifications current at the time of signing the contract shall be used. Unless quick setting cement is specially ordered by the Engineer-in-charge normal setting cement only is to be used. ii) Method of purchase The contractor shall always purchase Ordinary Portland cement as fresh as possible from the manufacturer and he shall on demand by the Engineer-incharge submit a laboratory test certificate from an approved laboratory, showing that the cement complies with the aforementioned Indian Standard Specifications. Power of rejection: The Engineer-in-charge shall have power to reject any cement which in his opinion is not upto the required standard. Storage: The contractor shall store all bags or packs, in which cement is packed in suitable dry place. Cement that has become caked, perished, wet or otherwise damaged shall on no account be used on the work. Weight: The weight of Portland cement for standard data purposes shall be taken as 40.82 kg per 16.38 cubic centimeters and where measurements for proportioning are taken by weight 16.38 cubic centimeter of cement will be taken as 40.82 kg.

CEMENT MORTAR: Must be freshly mixed: Cement mortar will only be mixed in such quantities as can be used up on the work within half an hour of mixing. Mortar which has been mixed longer or which has taken its initial set will on no account be used on the work or remixed with fresh mortar. It must be immediately removed from the site or work. Method of mixing: The cement and sand will be mixed dry in the specified proportions, by turning over atleast three times on the mixing platform. Only sufficient water will then be added, thorough a rose of a watering can, to produce a workable mixture. The wet mortar will be thoroughly worked or mixed by repeatedly turning over, not less than three times on the mixing board. Size of mixing platform and precaution against list : All mixing of mortar must be done on platforms of angle size and workman bringing the material to and from the platform must not be permitted to walk about on it, thereby bringing mud or dirt to the place, where the mortar is being mixed. The platform must be clean and level and all joints closed or filled so that the cement is not washed out. Proportion of cement and sand: Where not otherwise specified, cement mortar for plaster will consist of one part of cement to two parts of sand. For mortar for brick or stone masonry work the proportion unless otherwise specified, will be one part of cement to three parts sand

BROKEN BRICK KHOWA: i) Quality of bricks and method of manufacture: Broken bricks or khoa will be prepared by breaking well burnt bricks and jhama brick bats. On no account may old bricks, spongy jhama, soft or under burnt bricks be used. ii) Size: For foundations under flooring etc. the material shall be broken to pass through a 38mm gauge. For reinforced concrete, castings, lintels or pavings the material shall be broken to pass through a 20mm gauge. The material must be screened and all rubbish and dust removed before being used.

CEMENT CONCRETE PLAIN AND REINFORCED CEMENT CONCRETE: i) General: Except where they are varied by the requirements of this specification due provision of Indian Standard Specification IS-456-1978 for plain and reinforced concrete and IS-432 part I & II for mild and medium Tensile steel bars and hard drawn steel wire for concrete reinforcements shall be held to relevant ISS applicable together with the latest amendments shall be held to be incorporated in this specification. It shall be intent of these specifications to ensure that all concrete placed at various locations of the job should be durable strong enough to carry the design loads, it should wear well and practically be impervious to water. It should be free from such defect as shrinkage cracking and honey combing.

Proportioning the Mix: In ordinary concrete, excluding controlled concrete proportions of cement to find and coarse aggregate shall be as specified in the respective items and shall be accurately measured. These proportions are based on assumption that the aggregates are dry. If aggregates are moist allowance shall be made for bulking in accordance with IS 2386 (PartIII). The proportions in which the cement, fine aggregate and coarse aggregate are mixed may be 1:2:4 meaning one part by volume of cement two parts by volume of fine agg and four parts by volume of coarse agg. Thus 1 bag of cement weighing 50 kg. to be mixed with 0.067cum of coarse agg to get a mix of proportion 1:2:4 nominal mix. Mixing: Concrete of 1:2:4 or richer mix shall be mixed in an approved mechanical mixer. The mixer and mixing platform shall be suitably protected from wind and rain. Aggregates shall be measured accurately and mixing shall be continued until there is a uniform distribution of the materials and the mass is uniform in colour and consistency and the mixing time may be to 2 minutes. Curing: Concrete shall be carefully protected during first stage of hardening from harmful effects or excessive heat, drying winds, rain or running water and shock. It shall be covered with a layer of sacking, sand, canvas, hessian or similar absorbent materials and kept constantly wet for ten days from the date of placing of concrete. Alternatively, the concrete being thoroughly wetted and covered by layer of approved waterproof material which should be kept in contact with it for seven days. Form work: The form work shall be designed and constructed to the shape, lines and dimensions of member as shown in the drawings and be so constructed as to remain sufficiently rigid during the placing and compacting of the concrete and shall be sufficiently tight to prevent loss of liquid from the concrete. All rubbish particularly chippings, shavings and saw dust, shall be removed from the interior of the forms before the concrete is placed and the form work in contact with the concrete shall be cleaned and thoroughly wetted or treated with an approved composition. Care shall be taken that such approved composition is kept out of contact with the reinforcement. In normal circumstances and where ordinary Portland cement is used form may generally be removed after the expiry of the following periods.

BRICKS: A) All bricks shall be of best quality locally available as approved by the EIC. B) Bricks shall be of 225X113X75mm size or 250X125X75mm nominal size as specified in the item of work where no particular size is mentioned. Half brick wall shall be with 250X125X75msize bricks and walls of one brick thick, bricks on end walls and brick flat paving may be done with either size of bricks. C) Bricks shall be well burnt, sound, hard with sharp edges of uniform size and shape free from cracks, stones or particles of lime and other defects, shall be kiln burnt and satisfy the following requirement: i) ii) iii) iv) v) vi) vii) d) They shall give a clear metallic sound when struck They shall be of uniform colour and size They shall not be cracked, stratified or under or over burnt The tolerance in dimensions shall be +/- 12mm in length, 6mm in width and 3mm in height. Keys or frogs shall be formed on one of the larger size, except in the case of machine extruded bricks where no frogs are required The increase in weight when soaked in water for 24 hours shall not be more than 25% of the dry weight of the bricks. Shall not be more than slight.

If required by the EIC necessary test shall be conducted at the contractors expense to ensure quality. In general, the bricks shall be the best quality locally available.

14.2

Brick ballast: Under burnt bricks shall not be used for making brick ballast. These shall be made from lump ballast or bats; Ballast that is brittle and easily crushed under beaters shall not be used.

FLOORING/SKIRTING/CLADDING: Preparation of plinth filling: All plinth fillings shall be properly consolidated in layers, watered, rammed and allowed to consolidate to the EICs satisfaction before any flooring is laid. When the flooring is to be laid over a foundation of sand, broken stone of brick or a combination of sand and broken stone or brick the filling shall be removed to a depth equal to the thickness of the flooring plus such foundation layers. b) Foundations: i) Sub-layer of sand: After the plinth filling has been prepared as detailed in specification above a sublayer of sand 300mm deep shall be laid watered and brought to an even surface. ii) Layer of broken stone or brick: Over the sand a foundation course of bricks shall be laid and the interstices filled in with sand. The bricks shall be tightly packed and laid so as to break joint. c) Floors wooden lamination

1) It is important to ensure the sub floor on which the laminate is being laid is smooth, flat & hard & free from moisture, grease, etc. In case of uneven sub floor the same should be leveled by self leveling compound. The moisture level present in the sub floor should be less than 8% before installation of the floor. The laminate shall have Armalock locking system. It is recommended to use a water barrier of minimum of 250 microns and 2mm polyethylene foam under the planks. The installation shall be undertaken as per the manufacturers installation instructions. DOOR SHUTTERS: I)Ipsa, Godrej or Equivalent: The frames shall be fixed with expansion fasteners of approve make. The frame shall be fixed into position true to line and level using adequate number of expansion fasteners of approve size and manufacturer and in an approved manner. The holes in concrete member for housing dash fasteners shall be drilled with an electric drill 17.1 i) CEMENT PLASTERING: Preparation of surface: All putlog holes in brickwork and junction between concrete and brickwork shall be properly filled in advance. Joints in brickwork shall be raked about 10mm and concrete surface hacked to provide grip to the plaster. Projecting burrs of mortar formed due to gaps at joints in shuttering shall be removed. The surface shall be scrubbed clean with wire brush/coil brush to remove dirt, dust etc. and the surface thoroughly washed with clean water to remove efflorescence, grease and oil etc. and shall be kept wet for a minimum of six hours before application of plaster. ii) Proportion: The cement plaster shall be in 1:4 prop of cement and sand or as mentioned in the drawing. iii) Mixing: The cement and sand should be thoroughly mixed in dry condition. After dry mixing the materials shall be wetted with just sufficient water to bring the mortar to proper consistency of thick paste. Mortar should be used immediately after mixing and arrangements shall be made so that not more than 30 minutes elapse between the cement first coming in contact with the moisture and laying. iv) Placing : Plaster shall be laid over the prepared surface in one coat to the specified thickness and rubbed with PATAS and trowel and shall be smooth, free from waviness and trowel marks. v) Curing the plaster must be kept wet throughout the entire process and for ten days after four hours of completion of plastering.

DAMP PROOFING COURSE: It shall consist of 1:1.5:3 plain cement concrete with approved water proofing materials such as cico,impermo etc. of specified thickness. Edges of DPC shall be straight, even and vertical side shuttering shall consist of wooden or steel forms and shall be strong and properly fixed so that it is not disturbed during compaction and mortar or cement slurry does not leak through. When forms are struck the surface should be smooth without any honey combing. The surface shall be kept wet for seven days. Before commencing the superstructure work, the top of concrete course shall be dried and cleaned of all materials. Blown type bitumen shall then be applied uniformly on the surface and the side of the concrete coming in contract with flooring on the inside shall also be painted with bitumen.

ANTITERMITE TREATMENT: Diluting and injecting chemical emulsion of Chlorpyriphos Mollifiable concentrate 20% with 1% concentration for pre constructional anti-termite treatment and creating a continuous chemical barrier under and all around the column pits, wall trenches, basement excavation, top surface of plinth filling junction of wall and floor, along the external perimeter of building, expansion joints over the top surface of consolidated earth on which apron is to be laid, surrounding of pipes and conduits etc. as per specifications. Diluting and injecting chemical emulsion of Chlorpyriphos E.C 20% with 1% concentration for post constructional anti-termite treatment along external wall below concrete or masonry apron using chemical emulsion @ 2.25 liters per linear meter including drilling and plugging holes etc.

WINDOWS: The frames shall be fixed with expansion fasteners of approve make. The frame shall be fixed into position true to line and level using adequate number of expansion fasteners of approve size and manufacturer and in an approved manner. The holes in concrete member for housing dash fasteners shall be drilled with an electric drill. WATER PROOFING (WITH SIKATOP SEAL-107): Preparing the surface of the RCC roof slab and making it absolutely free from any foreign particles like dust, oil, grease etc. for the sound bonding with membrane coating. After item (A), providing and applying of two coats of ready to use polymer modified acrylic (two components) waterproofing slurry SIKA TOPSEAL 107 over the prepared surface, complete all as per manufactures guidelines. Over item (B), provide a mix of concrete screed of average 40mm above thick of proportion 1:2:4 (by volume) with 10mm down well graded aggregates and admixed with a waterproofing plasticizer like Pastorate Plus @ 0.2% by weight of cement and thereafter; scoring the top surface of the concrete screed @ 200mm c/c all under the direction of the Engineer. D) Providing a mixture and champ her at edges along joint of parapet and wall of dimension 150mm x 150mm with 1:4 cement sand mortar mixed with PLASTOCRETE PLUS @ 0.2% by weight of cement over a primer coat on the area to be hampered with a combination of modified SBR like Sika LATEX: WATER: CEMENT: 1:4:8 to be applied by brush, all under the direction of the Engineer-in-charge.

ROOFING: Providing single skin trapezoidal profile industrial toughed sheeting with 920mm sheet width, 876mm effective, pitch (crest to crest c/c) of 125mm, crest height of 38mm, 0.71mm thickness made of aluminium alloy AA 3105 H4 Everlast or equivalent. The sheet shall have a logo of the manufacture. The colour should have a top coating of minimum 30 microns, which includes 20 microns of top coating of Super Durable Polyester on a 5 micron epoxy coated primer on the sheet and 5 micron standard epoxy coating of steel gray colour on the backside. The sheet should have a guard film of LDPE of around 40 micron and should be fastened using AA 6351T4/T6 J bolt or equivalent along with nut, EPDM and bitumen washer, AA 8011 H2/3 curved washer, AA 6351T4 seam bolys. TECHNICAL REQUIRMENT FOR RENOVATION AND EXTENSION WORK OF BOARD ROOM OF HOTEL BRAMHAPUTRA ASHOK (ELECTRICAL WORKS) SCOPE OF WORK: All conduits shall be of 2mm thk PVC and all accessories such as normal bends , unions circular junction boxes and pull boxes, lock , nuts etc. shall be heavy gauge type of approved make and in all respect shall conform to IS-3738-1966. Lighting installations to be designed in accordance with modern practice and in accordance with IS code for interior lighting. All non -current carrying metal parts of electrical installations shall be earthed as per IS 3034-1966. Earthing shall be in conformity with provision of rules 32,61,62,67&63 of Indian electricity rules 1956. Laying of cables shall be as in detailed specification for electrical works.

GENERAL: 1.1

All electrical work shall be carried out in compliance with specifications given hereunder in this section and in compliance with Indian Standard specifications and Indian Electricity Act and Rules in force. The works shall also conform to any special requirement of local State Electricity Board. In case, the above mentioned , regulations etc. are not in accord, the decision of the Engineer-in-charge/Consultant regarding rules to be followed or manner of execution of work shall be final and binding. The work shall be executed under the direct supervision of person holding a certificate of competency issued by the State Government (Chief Electrical Inspector) for the type of works involved in conformity with the best methods of modern engineering practice and to the entire satisfaction of the Architect/Engineer-in-charge. The contractor has to submit the test report at various stages of completion as per requirement of the Client. These special conditions of contract shall be read in conjunction with the General Conditions of contract, Schedule of Quantities, Technical Specifications, Drawings and other documents relating to the work and shall have preference over laid down general conditions and specifications. Notwithstanding the sub-division of the documents into these separate sections and volumes, every part of each shall be deemed to be supplementary and complementary to every other part and shall be read with and into the contract, so far as it may be practicable to do so. The contractor shall mobilize and employ sufficient resources to achieve the detailed schedule within the board framework of the accepted methods of working and safety. The contractor shall provide everything necessary for the proper carrying out of the work, including tools plant and other materials. No additional payment will be made to the contractor for any multiple shift work of other incentive methods contemplated by him in his work schedule even though the time schedule is approved by the Architect/Engineer-in-charge.

The work shall be executed as per the programme drawn on approved by the Architect and it shall be so arranged as to have to full coordination with any other agency employed at site. No claim on account of the delay in the completion of the building work be tenable except extension of time secured by the contractor as stated elsewhere. The contractor shall permit free access and afford normal facilities and usual conveniences to other agencies or departmental workmen to carry out connected work or other work services under separate arrangements. The Contractor will not be allowed any extra payment on this account. All soil, flith or other matter of any offensive nature taken out of any trench, sewer drain, casspool or other place shall not be deposited on the surface but shall at once be carted away by the contractor from of charge to a suitable pit or place to be provided to him. The contractor shall provide all equipment, instruments, labour and such other assistance required by the Engineer-in-charge for measurements of the work, materials etc. MATERIALS All materials, equipments, fittings and fixtures used in electrical works shall conform to I.S.I. All material shall be new, soundly and robust in construction and well finished. Surplus materials after completion of work shall be taken back by the contractor and the cost shall be recovered if the advance payment has been made earlier by the Client. Unless otherwise stated in the conditions of contract samples of all materials, fittings and fixtures to be supplied by the contractor shall be submitted to the EIC/Consultant for his approval. The contractor shall not commence the work until the samples are approved, in writing from the EIC/Consultant. The contractor shall ensure that all the material incorporated in the work is identical in all respects with the approved sample. All samples not destroyed in testing shall be returned to the contractor after completion of contract. No payment shall be made for samples destroyed in testing. DRAWINGS The drawings and specifications shall be considered as a part of this contract. Any work or materials shown on the drawings but not included in the schedule of quantities or viceversa shall be executed as if specifically called for in both without any additional cost. The contract drawings indicate the extent and general arrangement of various equipments and their wiring etc. and are essentially diagrammatic. The work shall be installed as indicated on the drawings, however, any minor change if found essential to coordinate the installation of this work with other trade shall be made without any additional cost to the Owner. The data given herein and on the drawings is as could be secured, but its complete accuracy is not guaranteed. The drawings and specifications are for the assistance and guidance of the contractor, the exact locations, distances and levels will be governed by the space conditions. The contractor shall be responsible to check exact location of all electrical outlets, the routes and lengths of cables etc. CLARIFICATIONS OF DISCREPANCIES In case of any discrepancy between specifications and drawings etc. furnished by the Architect or disputes in respect thereof, the interpretation of the Director (Technical) shall be final and binding.

MISCELLANEOUS A site order book will be maintained at site which will be in the custody of the EIC or his representative and all instructions given to the contractor will be recorded in the site order book and the same has to be signed by the contractor to comply with the instruction given therein. After completion of the whole installation shall be tested by the contractor in the presence of the Architect. The tests shall comply the following I.E.E. Regulations and shall be submitted alongwith the final bill. a) b) c) The result of the insulation test shall comply with the I.E.E. Regulations 1101 to 1108A and 1108B with latest amendment as may be applicable. Test shall be carried out to ascertain that all the non-linked SP switches have been connected to the phase conductor. The continuity test of the earthing system shall comply with I.E.E. Regulations 1108 to 1109 to the latest addition.

If the results of the above tests does not comply with the I.E.E. Regulations, the contractor shall be bound to rectify the faults so that the required results are obtained at no extra cost. The contractor shall be responsible to provide all the necessary testing instruments, such as mage upto 2.5 kV range insulation tester, earth tester millimeter, AVO meter etc. for carrying out the above tests. The work will not be considered as complete and taken over by the Employer till all the components of the work after being completed at site in all respects have been inspected/tested by the Engineer-in- charge/Consultant to his entire satisfaction and a completion certificate issued by the EIC/Consultant to this effect. At the completion of the work and before issuance of certificate of virtual completion, the contractor shall submit to Architect layout drawings one reproducible and 4 set of prints drawn at approved scale indicating the complete wiring/conducting/cabling/earthing system as installed. The contractor will submit within 15 days of the award of work, a detailed sequence of work. WORK AND WORKMANSHIP The work shall be of the highest standard,/both as regard its design and workmanship. Modern tools and first class, latest techniques shall be employed for its execution. Any damage done to the building during the execution of work shall be responsibility of the contractor and it shall be made good by him, at his cost, to the entire satisfaction of the Consultant.

All electrical work shall be executed by skilled and duly licensed electricians under the direct supervision of whole time, fully qualified licensed electrical engineers and supervisors. The contractor shall produce requisite evidence regarding the qualification of the engineer, supervisors and other workers. The contractor shall possess all the relevant and valid licenses as per the regulations of the Indian Electricity Rules and the Local Electrical Inspectors requirements. The work shall have to be in coordination with the building work and other allied jobs/trades to the entire satisfaction of Engineer-in-charge/Consultant.

CERTIFICATE OF INSPECTION The contractor shall be responsible for getting the installation inspected and approved by the Electrical Inspector and other, level electrical supply company as required. The contractor shall obtain and deliver to the Architect the certificate of final inspection and approval of the local electrical authorized concerned. The inspection fees etc. shall be borne by the contractor. In case of any defect/s pointed out by the Electrical Inspector, the contractor shall remove these defects at his own cost and arrange for re-inspection or inspection by the electrical inspector, till such time the installation is finally approved and the required certificate is issued. The contractor shall bear all expenses and deposit the necessary fees for subsequent inspections by the Electrical Inspector. The Consultant shall have full powers to get the material or workmanship etc. inspected and tested by an independent agency, at the contractors expenses in order to ascertain their soundness and adequacy. Conduit layout for Electrical works shall be prepared by the contractor and got approved before starting of the work. In the event of any clarification necessary. The contractor should consult EIC/Consultant

STANDARD/TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION FOR RENOVATION AND EXTENSION OF WORK OF BOARD ROOM OF HOTEL BRAMHAPUTRA ASHOK (ELECTRICAL WORK) CONDUITING: All PVC conduits shall be of manufactured 2mm thick upto 32mm dia and of 3mm for sizes higher than this. Both inner and outer surfaces shall be smooth without burrs, dents and kinks. Conduits shall be black stove enameled inside and outside. The cross section of conduit shall be uniform throughout. The welding shall be uniform such that welded joints do not yield when subjected to flattening test. Welded joint shall not break when threaded or bent at an angle. Conduit shall conform to specifications of IS-1653-1972 and the capacity conduits shall be in accordance with the standards and shall never be exceeded. The minimum size of the conduit shall be 20mm dia. Conduit accessories such as normal bands, unions, circular junction boxes and pull boxes , lock nuts etc. shall be heavy gauge type and approved make. Conduit accessories shall conform in all respects to IS-3837-1966. Conduits shall be laid before casting in the upper portion of a slab or otherwise, as may be instructed or in accordance with approved drawings, so as to conceal the entire run of conduits and ceiling outlet boxes. Vertical drops shall be buried in columns or walls. Wherever necessary, chases will be put by the contractor with the prior orders of the Consultant In case of exposed brick/rubble masonry work special care shall be taken to fix the conduit and accessories in position alongwith the building work. Sufficient depth of the chases will be made to accommodate the required number of conduit. The chase will be filled with cement, coarse sand mortar (1:3) and properly cured by watering for one week. If a chase is cut in an already finished surface the contractor shall fill the chase and finish it to match the existing finish. Contractor must not cut any iron bars to fix conduits. Conduits shall be kept at a minimum distance of 100mm from the pipes of other non-electrical services. Where the conduits is to be embedded in a concrete member it shall be adequately tied to the reinforcement to prevent displacement during casting, conduits in chases shall be held by steel hooks of approved design at maximum of 60cm centres .The embedding of conduits in walls shall be so arranged as to allow at least 12mm plaster cover the same. All threaded joints of conduit pipes shall be treated with some approved preservative compound to secure protection against rust. Suitable expansion joints fittings of approved make and design shall be provided at all the points where the conduits crosses any expanses joints in the building. Wiring for short extensions to outlet in hung ceiling or to vibrating equipments, motors etc. shall be installed in flexible conduits. Flexible conduits shall be formed from a continuous length of spirally wound interlocked wire steel with a fused zinc coating on both sides. The conduit shall be water tight type with approved type adopted. A separate and accessible earth connection shall bond across the flexible conduit. Conduit runs on surfaces shall be supported with metal 12 gauge thick saddles which in turn are properly approved on to G.I. M.S.spacer to the wall or ceiling. saddled shall be at intervals of not more than 50 cm. Fixing screws shall be with round or cheese head and of rust proof materials. Exposed conduits shall be nearly run parallel or at right angles to the walls of the building and shall be painted in colour matching the adjoining area. Unseenly conduit bends and offsets shall be avoided by using better appearance. Cross cover of conduits shall be minimum and entire conduit installation shall be clean and with good appearance. No conduits are allowed to be run in the floor except by special permission of consultant and this only in extra ordinary circumstances by coating of bitumen over conduit. PVC bushes of approved quality shall be used in each conduit termination in a switch box, draw box, lighting fixtures and circular junction boxes as required. Exposed conduits running above false ceilings shall be suitably clamped with the dropped ceiling. Perforated strap hangers or twisted attachment shall not be acceptable. In no case shall raceways be supported or fastened to other pipe for repair and maintenance. They shall be arranged symmetrically and in the cost compact design in no way unduly criss-crossing each other. Proper spacing shall be maintained when two or more conduits run side by side. The layout of the pipes shall be co-ordinated with the shop drawing for dropped ceiling. The conduit of each circuit or section shall be completed before conductors are drawn in. The entire system of conduit after erection shall be tested for mechanical and electrical continuity throughout and permanently connected to berth conforming to the requirements by means of special approved type of earthing clamp efficiently fastened to conduit pipe in a workman like manner for a perfect continuity between the earth and conduit. The conduit system shall be so laid out that it will obviate the use of teas, elbows and sharp bends. No length of conduit shall have more than the equivalent of two quarter bends from inlet to outlet. The conduit itself being given required smooth bend with radius of bends suiting to the site conditions but not less than 6 times overall diameter. The conduits shall be of ample sectional area to facilitate the drawings of wires/cables. In no case shall the total cross section of wires/cables measured overall, be more than half the area of the conduit.

Outlet boxes shall be of 18 SWG sheet steel and so installed as to maintain continuity throughout. These shall be no protected at the time of lying that no mortar finds it was during concept concrete filling on plastering. For fluorescent fitting, 2 Nos. outlet boxes shall be provided 300mm off centre for a 1200mm fitting and 150mm off centre for a 600mm fitting. Draw boxes of ample dimensions shall be provided at convenient points to facilitate pulling of long runs of cables. They shall be completely concealed with M.S. covers flush with plaster work painted to match the wall. These boxes will be as few as possible and located where found suitable by the consultant. All the G.I. sheet/zinc passivated boxes used for housing switches, plugs, fan regulator etc. shall be five sided conforming to IS-5133 Part I-1969 with latest amendment. The boxes shall be provided with four to six fixing lugs located at the corners and vertical sides. All fixing lugs shall be threaded to receive standard machined chromium plated brass screws. Sufficient number of knockouts shall be provided for conduit entry. Conduits carry wires of different circuit can terminate in common J.B. having metal compartments. Necessary G.I. pill wires shall be inserted into the conduit for drawing wires. The switch boxes used for housing switches, plug/ fan regulator etc. shall be in passivated /GI five sided. Provision of bridge for mounting fan regulator and necessary brass earth point shall be provided on the box, as required. These shall be attached to conduits by means of check nuts on either side of their walls. These shall be completely concealed leaving edges flush with all surfaces. Moulded switch plates shall be fixed to these by means of chromium plated brass machine screws as required. The switch box shall be provided with earth terminal. No. timber shall be used for any supports. Boxes which come within concrete shall be installed at the time of casting. Care shall be taken to fix the box rigidly so that its position is not shifted while concreting The entire conduit system including outlet and boxes shall be thoroughly cleaned after completion of erection and before drawing in cables. To safeguard against filling up with the plaster etc. all the outlet boxes and switch boxes will have to be provided with temporary covers or PVC stoppers within the tendered cost which shall be replaced by 3mm thick Bakelite covers/moulded type switch plates as required. WIRING : P.V.C. insulated copper conductor cable shall be used for sub-circuit runs from the distribution boards to the points and shall be pulled into conduits. They shall be stranded copper conductors with thermoplastic insulation of 660 volts grade. Colour Code for wiring shall be followed. Looping system of wiring shall be used, wires shall not be jointed. Where joints are unavoidable, they shall be made through approved mechanical connectors with prior permission of the consultant. No. reduction of strands are permitted at terminations. No wire smaller than 1.5 sq.mm shall be used. Wherever wiring is run through trunkings or raceways, the wires emerging from individual distributions shall be bunched together with cable straps at required regular intervals. Identification ferrules indicating the circuit and D.B. number shall be used for submains, sub-circuit wiring. The ferrules shall be provided at both end of each submain and sub-circuit.

Where single phase circuits are supplied from a three phase and a neutral distribution board, no conduit shall contain the wiring fed from more than one phase. In any one room in the premises where all or part of the electrical load consists of lights, fans and/or other single phase current consuming devices, all shall be connected to the same phase of the supply. Circuits fed from distinct sources of supply or from different distribution boards or through switches or M.C.Bs shall not be bunched in one conduit. In large areas and other situations where the load is divided between two or three phases. no two single phase switches connected to different phase shall be mounted within two matters each other. All splicing shall be done by means of terminal blocks or connectors and no twisting connection between conductors shall be allowed. Metal clad sockets shall be of dia cast non-corroding zinc alloy and deeply recessed contact tubes. Visible scraping type earth terminal shall be provided. Socket shall have push on protective cap. Socket shall have MCB as specified in the schedule of work. All power sockets shall be piano type/moulded plate switches with associated switch of same capacity. switch and socket shall be enclosed in a G.I. sheet steel/zinc passivated boxes enclosure with the operating knob projecting. Entire assembly shall be suitable for wall mounting with a Moulded plate switch cover. Switches shall be connected on the live wire and neutral of each circuit shall be continuous everywhere having no fuse or switch installed in the line excepting at the main panels and boards. Each power plug shall be connected to each separate and individual circuit unless specified otherwise. The power wiring shall be kept separate and distinct from lighting and fan wiring. 10/20A metal clad socket outlet cover shall be spray painted matching to the wall surface. Balancing of circuits in three phases installation shall be arranged before installation is taken up. Unless otherwise specified no more than ten light points shall be ground on one circuit and the load per circuit shall not exceed 1000 watts. The earth continuity PVC insulated copper wire in Green colour shall be run inside the conduit to earth the third pin or socket outlets earth terminal of light fixtures, fans etc. as required. Light points shall be either of single control, twin control or multiple points controlled by a single switch/MCB as per schedule of work. Bare copper wire shall be provided with each circuit from DB as specified in the item of work and terminated in earth bar of DBs and switch boxes with proper lugs as required. EARTHING All non current carrying metal parts of electrical installation shall be earthed as per IS 30431966. All metal conduits, cable sheathes, switchgear, DBs, light fixture, equipments and all other parts made of metal shall be bonded together and connected to earth electrodes. Earthing shall be in conformity with provision of Rules 32,61,62,67, and 63 of Indian Electricity Rules 1956. All earthing shall be of high conductivity copper,. G.I. and shall be protected against mechanical damage. The cross-sectional area of earth conductors shall not be smaller than half that of the largest current carrying conductor. However the contractor shall use the sizes specified in the bill of quantities. a) All fixtures, socket outlets, fans switch boxes and junction boxes etc. shall be earthed PVC insulated copper wire as specified in item of work. The earth wires ends shall be connected with solderless bottle type copper lugs.

All single phase DBs up to 60Amps shall be earthed with 8 SWG GI wire as per Item of work.

c) All three phases switch board up to 100 Amps rating shall be earthed with 2 Nos. distinct and separate 4 SWG GI wire as per item of work. d) All switch board of rating more than 100 A and above shall be earthed with 2 Nos. separate and 25x6mm G.I. tape or as per item of work/drawing. e) All the earthed wires in switch boxes, DBs and light fixture shall be provided with green colour PVC sleeving. Main earth bus shall be taken from the L.T. switch board to earth electrodes. The electrical resistance of earthing conductors shall be low enough to permit passage of fault current necessary to operate fuse or circuit breaker and shall not exceed 1 ohm. The earthing electrodes shall consist of plate (60cm x 60cm x3mm) thick tinned copper plate or GI MS plate electrode (60cm x 60cm x 6mm) or GI pipe 40mm dia and 4.5 meter length B class as described under schedule of quantities, Galvanising of the pipe/plate shall conform to relevant Indian Standards. The plate electrode shall be buried in ground with its faces vertical and top not less than 3mm below G.L. The earth plate pipe shall be buried in the ground below the permanent moisture level but not less than 3.7 meter below ground level. The plate shall be filled with charcoal dust and common salt filling extending 15 cm around it on all sides. There shall be a 20mm dia B class GI pipe running from top of plate up to the ground level for watering pipe. The top of the pipe shall be provided with a funnel and a GI mesh screen for watering the earth. This will be housed in a masonry sump with cement plastering or a cement concrete sump not less than 30cm square and 30cm dep. A.M.S frame with hinged cover and locking arrangement shall be suitably provided over the G.I. pipe electrode shall be cut tapered at the bottom and provided with holes of 12mm dia, drilled not less than 7.5cm from each other up to 2.0 meter of length from bottom. The pipe shall be buried in the ground vertically with its top not less than 20cm below ground level. The earthing lead from electrode onwards shall be suitably protected from mechanical injury by a 15mm dia, GI pipe in case of wire and by 40mm dia B class GI pipe in case of strip portion of this protection pipe within ground shall be buried at least 30cm deep (to be increased to 60cm in case of road crossing and pavements). The portion within the building shall be recessed in walls and floors to adequate depth. In the case of plate earth electrode the earthing lead shall be securely bolted to the plate with two bolts, nuts checknuts and washers. In case of pipe earth electrode, it shall be connected by means of through bolt, nuts and washers and cable socket. All materials used for connecting the earth lead with electrode shall be GI in case of GI pipe and GI plate earth electrodes and of tinned brass in case of copper plate electrode. No earth pit shall be fixed within 2 meter of a wall or foundation. Efforts shall be made to locate them in grass lawns or near flower beds or water taps. The distance between two earthing stations shall be at least 2 meters. CABLE TERMINATIONS All the cable termination shall be executed with crimping tool using DOWEL make cable socket. Compression brass cable glands wherever used shall be of correct size for cable and terminations. No. oversize cable glands shall be used. The gland must grip the armour of the cable firmly, so that in the event of ground movement no undue stress is transferred to the cable conductors. Corrosion inhibiting compound shall be applied on the conductor before crimpling the lugs . The gland must establish good electrical contact between cable armour, load sheath and body of switch gear. Identification ferrules indicating the circuit shall be used for incoming and outgoing cables. The ferrules shall be provided at both ends of each cable.

CABLE WORK: While laying underground cables, care should be taken so that any underground structure such as water pipes, sewerage lines etc. are not damaged. Any telephone or other cable coming in the way shall be properly protected as per instructions of the Architect. The LT cables shall be laid not less than 90cm below ground level in a trench 45cm wide minimum. The depth of the trenches shall be uniform throughout. When the cables is properly strengthened and laid in the trench, it should be covered all around 80mm thick layer of sand. Approved cable indicators shall be fixed at suitable distance along the route of the cable. Unless otherwise specified the cables shall be protected by second class bricks of not less than 22.5 x 10 x 7cm or stone tiles or any other approved material placed on sides and top of the cable to form a channel throughout the length. Stoneware pipes or spun reinforced concrete pipes shall be provided for all road crossings. The size and nature of the shall be decided by the Engineer-in-charge and shall not be less than 10cm in dia meter for a single cable and not less than 20cm for more than one cable. These pipes shall be laid in the ground with 10cm in diameter for a single cable and not less than 20cm for more than one cable. These pipes shall be laid in the ground with 10cm thick bed of cement concrete 1:5:10 and may be loose jointed. The top surface of pipe shall be at a minimum depth of 90cm from the ground level when laid under the roads/pavements. DISTRIBUTION BOARDS Distribution boards shall be of standard make with MCBs as per approved make given Appendix A Distribution boards shall be constructed out of 16 SWG sheet shall be painted with enamel paint. Ample clearance between the conductors of opposite pole, between conductors and sheet steel body shall be maintained in other to obviate any chance of short circuit. Removal conduits entry plates shall be provided at top and bottom to facilitate drilling holes at site to suit individual requirements. The MCBs shall be mounted on a high grade rigid insulating support and connected by electrolytic copper bus bars. Each incoming MCB isolator shall be provided with solder less cable sockets for crimping Phase separation barriers made out of are resistant materials shall be provided between the phases. Bus bars shall be colour coded for phase identification. Distribution board shall be recessed in wall nitch or if required mounted on the surface of the wall with necessary clamp bolts etc. as required at a height not exceeding 1600mm from finished floor level. Distribution board shall be provided with proper identification name plate danger mark etc. All the distribution board shall be marked lighting power or Emergency as the case may be. Each DB shall be provided with a circuit list giving details of each circuit. All the outgoing circuit wiring shall be provided with identification ferrules giving the circuit number and phase. Each distribution board shall have a separate neutral connection bar and a separate earth connection bar mounted within the board each having the same number of terminals as the total number of outgoing individual circuits from the distribution board. Suitable earth terminal shall be provided on the distribution board for bonding to earth.

Distribution boards shall be duly rust inhibited through a process of degreasing, acid picking phosphating and spray primer. The entire board shall be rendered dust and vermin proof with necessary sealing gaskets. MCBs shall have quick make and break non- welding silver alloy contacts, both on the manual and automatic operation. MCBs shall be of thermal magnetic type with reverse time-delay overcurrent tripping having a short circuit rupturing capacity of 9 KA. In case of multiple brackets, the tripping must be on all the poles and shrouded, wherever MCB isolators are specified they are without the tripping elements. Necessary adopter box of suitable size shall be provided to facilitate the wiring and nothing shall be payable on this account. SWITCH BOARDS (CUBICAL TYPE) WITH MCCB The switch board shall be metal clad, totally enclosed, single front, wall mounted, cubical type for use on 415 volts 3 phase, 50 cycles systems with a fault level withstand of 35 KA RMS symmetrical. The switchboard shall be made up of the requisite vertical sections, which when coupled together shall form continuous dead front switch boards of dust and vermin proof construction. The panels shall be fully compartmentalized and shall be arranged in multi-tierformation. The top and bottom of each compartment shall have barrier of minimum 14 SWG M.S sheets. The structure shall be of rigid welded/bolted construction with C.R.C. sheet steel of not less than 14 SWG thickness. The doors, covers, barriers etc. shall be made of 14 SWG thick sheet steel. A base channel of minimum 75mmx75mmx5mm thickness shall be provided at the bottom. At least 250mm space shall be provided above channel (i.e. 325mm from floor) in which no switch gear shall be fixed. Joints of any kind in sheet metal shall be seam welded, all welding slog grounded off and welding pits wired smooth with plumber metal. All panels and covers shall be properly fitted and square with the frame. Holes in the panels shall be correctly provided and tapped into an adequate thickness of metal or provided with nuts, for convenient fixing of screws, self threading of screws shall not be used in the fabrication of the panels. All doors shall be provided with neoprene gaskets. Each vertical panel structure shall contain a cable way alloy of adequate width with provision for suitable cable supports. The cable compartment shall have hinged door. There shall be a separate gland plate for each cable entry so that there will not be dislocation for already wired circuits when new feeders are added. The entire switch board shall be factory assembled conforming to IS:8623 and shall be made in the works of the switchgear manufacturer of approved make. The contractor shall get shop drawings approved by the consultant before undertaking manufacture of switch boards. The panel shall include the required number of MCCB aluminium bus bars, as per requirement and item of work. The units should be arranged in their formation to provide a compact switch board having a pleasing appearance. The minimum depth of switch board shall be 300mm and the height be restricted to 2000mm. Steel sheet hinged lockable doors shall be duly interlocked with fuse switch unit to prevent opening of the panel when the switches is in ON position. Safety interlocks shall be provided also. All the M.C.C. Bs shall be provided with vertical operation. The bus bars shall be positioned at top or side position. The bus bars shall be air insulated and made of high conductivity. High strength aluminium alloy of current density not less than 1 Amps/sq.mm complying with the requirements of glass E91E of IS:5082 designed and shall uniform cross section throughout the length. The bus bars shall be held by specially polyester glass moulded (SMC) at sufficiently close intervals to prevent bus bar sag and to effectively withstand electro magnetic stresses in the event of a short circuit. All the bus bars and risers shall be fully insulated with PVC sleeving with necessary colour coding. High tensile bolts and spring washers shall be provided at all bus bars joints. Vertical bus bars for outgoing compartments shall run the full height of the panel to cater to all combinations of modules in a section.

All indicating instruments shall be of the flush mounting industrial pattern, conforming to the requirement of IS:1248, indicating lamps shall be of the neon type. Separate compartment shall be provided for accommodating instruments, indicating lamps control contractor and fuses etc. There shall be accessible for testing and maintenance without any danger of accidental contact with live parts of the circuit breaker, fuse switch units, but bars and connections. Horizontal wire way with screwed cover shall be provided at the top to take interconnecting control wiring between different vertical sections. Control wiring shall be of copper conductor and shall be colour coded for easy identification of circuits. This should be of not less section than 2.5 sq.mm Not more than two connections shall be made off any one terminal. All cables shall neatly bunch and shall be secured to wiring cradles. All outgoing cabled shall be fitted with identification ferrules at each end. Circuit diagram showing the arrangement of circuits shall be pasted on the inside of panel door and covered with transparent plastic sheet. Knockout holes of appropriate size and numbers shall be provided with panel in conformity with the location of incoming and outgoing cables/conduits. Facility shall be provided for termination of cables from both above and below the panel. Where cables enter from below, cable glands shall be fitted at the bottom and arranged in tiers to facilitate making connections to the upper and lower unit. Clamps shall be provided to support the weight of the cables. Aluminium flat of suitable size with two earthing cables eyes shall be provided for connections to main earth. The earth bar scale run within the base frame.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS FOR INTERIOR WORKS: TENDER NO: 1.0 TIMBER:

Timber shall be seasoned & of the best quality available or as specified in the bill of quantities / annexure & of the best description perfectly dry well seasoned uniform in color free from sap wood & warps sound straight, free from & loose, knots, cracks shakes and other defects & any appearance of not. It shall not be placed in position covered in the wall or round unless the HBA,Guwahati / Consultant have approved it. Timber shall be considered as well seasoned if moisture content does not exceed the following limits: Timber for frames - 14% Timber for planking shutters etc. - 12% 1.0 BWR PLYWOOD: BWR (Boiling Water Resistant) plywood should confirm to the relevant BIS-Code and shall be resistant to attack of termite, fungi, white ants, wood borer etc. The bonding should be of superior grade Phenol Formaldehyde Synthetic Resin adhesive. Type of face veneer and grade of plywood boards shall be as specified, unless otherwise states only BWR grade plywood boards shall be used.

Unless otherwise specified, the plywood boards shall be delivered in a clean condition and shall be suitably packed according to normal trade. The thickness Tolerance Moisture Content, testing etc. shall be as per relevant BIS codal provision / CPWD procedure / Standard Engineering practice. Generally in general the frequency of testing shall be one sample for every 100 SqM or part thereof. Visual Inspection: Each plywood boards shall be legibly and indelibly marked or stamped with the following: a) Indication of the source of manufacture b) Year of manufacture c) Batch no. and type of grade 3.0 PHENOL FORMALDEHYDE BLOCK BOARD: The block board should have density of 0.7 0.80 gms/cc, Mechanical strength and high nail holdingcapacity. There should be no twisting under wood working, warp less surface, free from core gaps, swelling in cold water be much less than 1%. All veneer and wooden battens should have been treated with chemical which ensures that every layer id protected from borer attack. Permissible defects and tolerances on thickness shall conform to relevant BIS code for commercial and decorative veneer respectively. 4.0 TEAK WOOD: Where teak wood is specified, it shall mean BURMA TEAK WOOD. Teak wood for all joinery work shall be fully seasoned quality teak wood free from any defects and shall be of the approved quality, free from soft heart, worm and bee holes and shall weight not less than 640 kg per cubic meter. For exposed portion no knots will be permitted. In unexposed parts individual hard & sound knots shall not be more than 25mm in diameter and the aggregate area of all the knots shall not exceed one percent of the area, of the piece. 5.0 5.1 DECORATIVE VENEER PLY: The decorative veneer should have attractive appearance due to figure, color, grain, luster etc. The decorative veneer surface shall be selected for figure, texture, color and grain characteristics. It shall be free from all manufacturing and wood defects except those specified. The veneer shall be finished as specified and shall be of equal or superior quality to that laid down in IS: 1328 1996. Wherever decorative wood veneer ply is specified, the same shall be group match only and grains / flowers shall be strictly placed either horizontally or vertically or diagonally and matched as per instructions of the HBA,Guwahati/Consultant.

5.2

Decorative veneers shall be rotary cut or sliced from a wooden flinch made by lamination of veneers. Sliced veneers shall be spliced & skillfully oriented to form desired grain patterns & textures like group matching or book matching patterns shall be laminated on plywood sheets under high heat pressure. Plywood used for the manufacture of veneered decorative plywood shall be bonded with synthetic resin adhesive of BWR grade conforming to IS: 848-1974. The decorative veneered surface shall be free from torn grain, dead knots, discoloration and sapwood. Where group match veneers are specified it shall refer to a certain number of decorative matched plywood panels, matching in figure, color and grain as required to form a group to give an overall general effect, the quantity of each group unless mentioned in the schedule shall be restricted to at least one enclosed cabin space, as the case may be. The decorative veneered surfaces with figure shall not be allowed unless specified with schedule. The following tolerances shall be permitted on the thickness: Positive = 10% of nominal thickness. Samples collected randomly shall be subjected to the test specified as under: Moisture Content: To be tested for moisture content in accordance with BIS: 1734 (Part I): 1983 Decorative veneered plywood when tested in the manner specified shall not show delamination of blister formation. Visual Inspection: Ply shall be visually inspected to ensure that decorative veneered surface conform to the requirements specified in the tender document. They shall also be inspected for de-laminations or surface defects. Marking: Decorative veneered plywood shall be clearly marked in suitable position with the following information:Manufactures name or trade mark Grade, and BWR Type IS or BIS certification markings DELIVERY: The decorative plywood shall be brought to site in a clean and dry condition and shall be suitably packed according to approve trade practice, unless otherwise specified. Procedure of lying: Adhesives to be used for fixing veneers shall be in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations. Bonding shall be under pressure. The contractor shall submit 1 Sq. ft sample of each veneer type (finish to the desired finish) for approval. MELAMINE FINISH: Timber/Veneer works shall be finished by the applications of two coats of an acid catalyzes clear lacquer (melamine) wherever it is indicated in the drawings. The finish shall be a satin, semigloss finish & shall be carried out as follows

The base shall be sand papered to desired finish & coated with color tinge to give it shade. This shade shall be sealed with a coat of spirit finish. After the base, first coat of lacquer shall be applied evenly by a soft cloth or by spray to give an even coat to the veneer surface. After first coat has fully dried, the lacquered surface shall be rubbed down in the direction of the veneer grain with very fine glass paper and left completely smooth & clean before the second coat is applied. When second coat of lacquer is fully dried, the surface shall be rubbed down in the direction of veneer grain very fine wire wool dipped in petroleum based wax to give lubrication. Twenty four hour after completion of this process the lacquered veneer surface shall be finished by varnishing with a soft cloth to an approved finish. GLASS: The glass shall have uniform and precise surface flatness and provide excellent through vision images. It should exhibit superior visual qualities that provide bright clear through images. All glass is to be of approved quality and manufacturer and be free from bubbles, smoke wave, air holes and other defects. Etched glass shall be clear float glass chemically etched as per the design and sample displayed / given. Irrespective of its use all edges of glass exposed to view / touch shall be machine cut and polished. For full heights partitions, all glass joints shall be sealed with clear silicon paste of international quality as per manufacturers recommendations. The installer shall be a firm experienced in application of materials required. It shall be executed by companys approve applicator. Delivery: Glass shall be delivered to site in cut sizes, in packages bearing the manufacturers name and /or trade mark. The type quality, thickness or weight of the glass is to be clearly marked on the packages. METAL WORK (ALUMINIUM): Extent and Intent: The contractor shall furnish all materials, labor, operational equipments, tools and plant necessary and required for the completion of all metal work in connection with metal door, windows, railings and other items of metal work as called for in the drawing and or the documents. The drawings and specifications cover the major requirements only. Anything called for in one document shall be considered as applicable to the items of work concerned. The supply and installation of additional fasteners accessory features and other items not specifically mentioned but which are necessary to make a complete functioning installation shall form part of this specification at no extra cost. General: All metal work shall be free from defects impairing strength, durability & appearance & shall be of the best commercial quality for purpose specified made with structural properties to withstand safety strains, stresses to which the metal shall normally be subjected. Approved Manufacturer: All windows & other metal work as called for shall be manufactured by a manufacturer / fabricator, approved by the Hotel Brahmaputra Ashoka ,Guwahati/ Consultant. The entire work shall be carried out by workman skilled in the kind of work as called for in a shop fully equipped to carry out all phases of fabrication in accordance with the best accepted & as approved by the HBA, Guwahati/ Consultant. Unloading & Stacking: The fabricated frames shall be transported, bundled, unloaded & stacked in the careful manner; they shall be stacked on the edge on level bearers & supported evenly. All precautions shall be taken to ensure that the frames are not damaged or distorted in any manner. All glasses of the doors / windows thought out shall all paints spots and brush marks removed & upon completion of painting work shall be washed & polished that is scratched or damaged by contractors work or while cleaning off paint from the glass. Hardware & other unpainted surfaces shall be cleaned using lacquer thinner or paint remover.

Fixing: The frames shall be fixed with expansion fasteners of approve make. LAMINATE: Laminate shall be of the brand, catalogue surface finish, colour as specified and approved by the Hotel Brahmaputra Ashoka, Guwahati /Consultant. All laminates shall be finish as design intent unless mentioned otherwise. Laminates shall confirm to BIS 2046: 1969, BIS 2046: 1995 or latest. The decorative laminate should be abrasion, Wear, Chemical, Solvent, Stain, Scratch, Impact, Heat, Moistures and Boiling Water Resistant and further is should have dimensional stability. 1.0mm & 0.8mm thick laminates shall be of HGS grade & VGS grade respectively. Application: Laminates shall be veneered to mounting surface with approved adhesive, used strictly in accordance with manufacturers instructions. Laminate shall not be fixed to timber with a moisture content more than 12% or at a temperature of less than 15 degree C. The laminate shall be applied only to close grained plywood to ensure a smooth ripple free surface; it shall not be applied to open grained plywood such as fir plywood. But jointing of laminates shall be minimized by using longest available lengths where required and all butt joints shall be perfectly flush and sealed or a uniform grove be left in between wherever mentioned. Grain direction of wood grain laminated sheeting shall be as directed by the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Federation Limited /Consultant. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS ELECTRICAL SCOPE OF WORK: All conduits shall be of 2mm thick PVC and all accessories such as normal bends, unions circular junction boxes and pull boxes, lock, nuts etc. shall be heavy gauge type of approved make and in all respects shall conform to IS-3738-1966. Lighting installations to be designed in accordance with modern practice and in accordance with IS code for interior lighting. All non -current carrying metal parts of electrical installations shall be earthed as per IS 3034-1966. Earthing shall be in conformity with provision of rules 32, 61, 62, 67 & 63 of Indian electricity rules 1956. Lying of cables shall be as in detailed specification for electrical works. Metal clad socket cover point shall match the wall surface. Telephone wire conduit shall be provided up to JB with double pair 0.6mm dia ATC telephone cable from each point to Telephone JB tag Block. Telephone connections shall be provided in drawing rooms and bedrooms. PVC pipe under floor for crossing telephone cables etc. Lighting protection shall be provided at top of building with minimum 2 nos. 25mm dia 300mm long spike having single 25 x 3mm G.I. tape over horizontal and vertical down conductor up to testing joints to earth station should be 32x6mm and 4 nos. plate earthing as approved by Architect Point earthing shall be provided. For the type of works involved in conformity with the best methods of modern engineering practice and to the entire satisfaction of the Architect/Engineer-incharge. The contractor has to submit the test report at various stages of completion as per requirement of the Client. These special conditions of contract shall be read in conjunction with the General Conditions of contract, Schedule of Quantities, Technical Specifications, Drawings and other documents relating to the work and shall have preference over laid down general conditions and specifications. Notwithstanding the sub-division of the documents into these separate sections and volumes, every part of each shall be deemed to be supplementary and complementary to every other part and shall be read with and into the contract, so far as it may be practicable to do so. The contractor shall mobilize and employ sufficient resources to achieve the detailed schedule within the board framework of the accepted methods of working and safety. The contractor shall provide everything necessary for the proper carrying out of the work, including tool plant and other materials. No additional payment will be made to the contractor for any multiple shift work of other incentive methods contemplated by him in his work schedule even though the time schedule is approved by the Architect/Engineer-in-charge. The work shall be executed as per the programme drawn on approved by the Architect and it shall be so arranged as to have to full co-ordination with any other agency employed at site. No claim on account of the delay in the completion of the building work be tenable except extension of time secured by the contractor as stated elsewhere. The contractor shall permit free access and afford normal facilities and usual conveniences to other agencies or departmental workmen to carry out connected work or other work services under separate arrangements. The Contractor will not be allowed any extra payment on this account. All soil, filth or other matter of any offensive nature taken out of any trench, sewer drain, cesspool or other place shall not be deposited on the surface but shall at once be carted away by the contractor from of charge to a suitable pit or place to be provided to him. Unless otherwise stated in the conditions of contract samples of all materials, fittings and fixtures to be supplied by the contractor shall be submitted to the EIC/Consultant for his approval. The contractor shall not commence the work until the samples are approved, in writing from the EIC/Consultant. The contractor shall ensure that all the material incorporated in the work is identical in all respects with the approved sample. All samples not destroyed in testing shall be returned to the contractor after completion of contract. No payment shall be made for samples destroyed in testing.

DRAWINGS: 3.2 The drawings and specifications shall be considered as a part of this contract. Any work or materials shown on the drawings but not included in the schedule of quantities or vice-versa shall be executed as if specifically called for in both without any additional cost. The contract drawings indicate the extent and general arrangement of various equipments and their wiring etc. and are essentially diagrammatic. The work shall be installed as indicated on the drawings, however, any minor change if found essential to co-ordinate the installation of this work with other trade shall be made without any additional cost to the Owner. The data given herein and on the drawings is as could be secured, but its complete accuracy is not guaranteed. The drawings and specifications are for the assistance and guidance of the contractor, the exact locations, distances and levels will be governed by the space conditions. The contractor shall be responsible to check exact location of all electrical outlets, the routes and lengths of cables etc.

CLARIFICATIONS OF DISCREPANCIES: 4.2 In case of any discrepancy between specifications and drawings etc. furnished by the Architect or disputes in respect thereof, the interpretation of the Engineer-in-Charge shall be final and binding.

MISCELLANEOUS: 5.6 A site order book will be maintained at site which will be in the custody of the Architect or his representative and all instructions given to the contractor will be recorded in the site order book and the same has to be signed by the contractor to comply with the instruction given therein.

5.7

After completion of the whole installation shall be tested by the contractor in the presence of the Architect. The tests shall comply the following I.E.E. Regulations and shall be submitted along with the final bill. d) e) f) The result of the insulation test shall comply with the I.E.E. Regulations 1101 to 1108A and 1108B with latest amendment as may be applicable. Test shall be carried out to ascertain that all the non-linked SP switches have been connected to the phase conductor. The continuity test of the earthing system shall comply with I.E.E. Regulations 1108 to 1109 to the latest addition.

If the results of the above tests does not comply with the I.E.E. Regulations, the contractor shall be bound to rectify the faults so that the required results are obtained at no extra cost. The contractor shall be responsible to provide all the necessary testing instruments, such as mage up to 2.5 kV range insulation tester, earth tester multimeter, AVO meter etc. for carrying out the above tests. 5.8 The work will not be considered as complete and taken over by the Employer till all the components of the work after being completed at site in all respects have been inspected/tested by the Engineer-in- charge/Consultant to his entire satisfaction and a completion certificate issued by the EIC/Consultant to this effect. At the completion of the work and before issuance of certificate of virtual completion, the contractor shall submit to Architect layout drawings one reproducible and 4 set of prints drawn at approved scale indicating the complete wiring/conduiting/cabling/earthing system as installed. The contractor will submit within 15 days of the award of work, a detailed sequence of work.

WORK AND WORKMANSHIP: 6.3 The work shall be of the highest standard,/both as regard its design and workmanship. Modern tools and first class, latest techniques shall be employed for its execution. Any damage done to the building during the execution of work shall be responsibility of the contractor and it shall be made good by him, at his cost, to the entire satisfaction of the Consultant.

6.2 All electrical work shall be executed by skilled and duly licensed electricians under the direct supervision of whole time, fully qualified licensed electrical engineers and supervisors. The contractor shall produce requisite evidence regarding the qualification of the engineer, supervisors and other workers.

The contractor shall possess all the relevant and valid licenses as per the regulations of the Indian Electricity Rules and the Local Electrical Inspectors requirements. The work shall have to be in co-ordination with the building work and other allied jobs/trades to the entire satisfaction of Engineer-in-charge/Consultant.

CERTIFICATE OF INSPECTION: 7.7 The contractor shall be responsible for getting the installation inspected and approved by the Electrical Inspector and other, level electrical supply company as required. The contractor shall obtain and deliver to the Architect the certificate of final inspection and approval of the local electrical authorised concerned. The inspection fees etc. shall be borne by the contractor. In case of any defect/s pointed out by the Electrical Inspector, the contractor shall remove these defects at his own cost and arrange for re-inspection or inspection by the electrical inspector, till such time the installation is finally approved and the required certificate is issued. The contractor shall bear all expenses and deposit the necessary fees for subsequent inspections by the Electrical Inspector. The Consultant shall have full powers to get the material or workmanship etc. inspected and tested by an independent agency, at the contractors expenses in order to ascertain their soundness and adequacy. Conduit layout for Electrical works shall be prepared by the contractor and got approved before starting of the work. In the event of any clarification necessary. The contractor should consult EIC/Consultant.
