Project Description: TheE.P.Paupwillbeusedtoinstallordismantleoffshore oilandgasplatforms.Thisderrickbargeis380feetlong,andhasanAmericanMG509 cranewitha265boom,andacapacityof1000tonsoverthesternand900tonsfully revolving.

Scope:
Glostenwasaskedtoevaluateseveralalternate liftingschemes,inspectprospectivebarges, designthegrillage,createafiniteelementmodel ofthebargesandgrillage,andanalyzeforafull rangeofloadconditions. Forthegrillagedesign,largebeamswere surplusedfromfalseworkontheOaklandBay Bridgeproject.

Project Description: Theoverwaterspanisprecastsegmentalconstruction,


withsegmentsweighingupto260tons.Thenavigationlocksonthisupperpartofthe Mississippiareonly56feetwide(onecanbeseeninthephoto).Two54footwide bargeswerejoinedonsitebyasteelgrillagetosupportthecraneandprovideenough stabilityforthelifts.ThecranewasdisassembledfromaCanadianbargeatMansons Seattleyard,truckedtoMinneapolis(over40truckloads)andreassembledonsite.The grillage,alsotoolargetopassthroughthelocks,wassubassembledintwopiecesat MansonsHouma,Louisianayard,broughtupriveronthetwocharteredbarges,and finishedonsite.

Scope:
Glostenwasaskedtodesigntwopurposebuilt barges,whichcouldbejoinedtoformaplatform fora900toncapacityLiebherr1800LRcrane.

Project Description: Becauseoftheactiveuseofthebridge,theseismicretrofit


projectwasdesignedtoallowthebridgetoremainopentotraffic.Consequently,for economy,scheduleefficiency,andtrafficmitigation,muchoftherepairofthebridge involvedworkbeingfabricatedoffsiteandshipmenttothebridgeoverwaterbybarge. TheconcretesegmentsofthetrestlewereprecastinPetalumaandbargeddowntothe bridge.Tugspositionedbargeswithoneortwo100foot(30m)long,500tonprecast concreteroadwaysegmentstobeliftedintoplacebya900tonbargemountedcrane. Afterthenewconcreteroadsegmentwasinplace,steelplateswereusedtotemporarily fillthegaps,andtheroadwaywasreadyforthemorningrushhourtraffic.
