PLAIN close to the False Bay coast. I found myself there last month, bringing a mesSa-ie on the SERMON ON THE IDUNT to a church group meeting in a school classroom. It was also my privilege to take one of the evangelists and his family liome to BEL HAR afterwards, anc^we had a good time of fellowship and discussion together.
WE GREET YOU in the blessed name of our Lord Jesus

Christ. We are blessed a lot to have so many friends. V7e thank each one of you for your prayers for our labors for the Lord here in Cape Town, South Africa. Thanks also to those who so regularly and faithfully send support for this work. In doing so you have become our partners in Christ, and we

assure you by the authority of God's word that he will supply all your needs by his riches in glory through Christ!
MY LIVING BIBLE SUMMARY STRAIGHT TALK FROM GOD

is still in the process of being keyed in to the computer: the Old Testament up to Daniel, and the New Testament up to First Peter. Rough drafts of these are now-being printed and
edited. It's exciting work I can tell you that!

It was well received,

AT ALOE ROAD I recently brought messages from

ECCLESIASTES and ZECHARIAH.

Here we see Solomon's experiment

on life, where he concludes: "Honor God, and do what he says;

because that's what life is a l l about.

You see

tiiiie's coming when God's going to judge each person by the way he's lived, and the things he's done even the things he thought nobody knew about1 God himself is going to decide which was good, and which was bad and we'll all have to face the consequences!"
IN PORTLAND our Bible Study Group held its annual

party, where I brought a message on "THE GIFTS OF CHRISTMAS'.*

We noted that God gives to us the gifts of LIGHT, of LIFE, and of LOVE. The group was very appreciative, and gave

gifts to both Martha and myself for our work with them

through the year.

I read and edit my Bible Summary even while I'm waiting for my lift to work. One day I was working my way

through DANIEL, and read the account of Daniel in the lion's

den to those in the car. I t was well received. At work I

explained to a Muslim friend that God became man in order to pay the price of our sin which is death.

RAVENSMEAD, who wants me to bring another series of lessons

In EASTRIDGE Brother February has made contact with several families who are interested in studying God's Word. He has called on me to bring lessons in their homes. On my first visit I drove to his home, and we walked together through the neighborhood. A group came together in one of the homes, and we held a meeting with them. I brought them a message on God's plan of salvation. They are eager to have regular studies in the area, and Brother February is going to let me know when they're ready.

I used to be in an office that had a good view of Table Mountain, but I'm now in the General Office. Ah well. MARTHA AND I are real excited about our upcoming trip to the States, Lord willing. We are trusting in the Lord to

provide our needs and to guide us in this.

Hello from South Africa1

Yep, we're back here again by the grace of the Lord, and we greet you in His vjonderful nameI TKank you for your kindness and hospitality to Martha and me while we were in the States. Thank you for your prayers and your support.
TRIP TO U.S.A.
++++++++++++++

South African Airways Jumbo Jet soared into the night skies over Cape Town on April 15, bound for Miami. The next morning our rented Mirage pulled into Howard Johnson's at

-iCey Largo ^Eor-^yreakifastro

By -late afternoon we were cruising-

through the Everglades, heading for Naples and Fort Myers on the west coast. After a fantastic stay with Robbie & Laurie Underberg, we flew to California. There i t was my privilege to perform the wedding ceremony of my daughter, Deirrin to Clive. My son, Tim, sang at the wedding, and Jim and Sandi Woest very kindly opened their home to Meurtha and me.
At Las Vegas we were warmly welcomed by my sister. Alma. She showed us all the sights, while Dick ^d Carole Shine of the church's Missionary Committee kindly treated us to an evening meal before Bible Study. In Dallas the Browns gave us a further taste of southern hospitality, and Roger Jones took me to a men's bresikfast at Arlington Christian. We were up in the skies again to Minnesota where i t was my privilege to join with other speakers at a Missions Evening at New Brighton Christian. Lee and Margaret Tate kindly
opened their home to us. Then Tim drove us to Wisconsin for

our stay at Ladysmith.

I spoke at the church.

We were

welcomed at the home of Roland & Wilma Coggins, and invited

to a meal with Nancy Hoesly.

In Eau Claire we visited with the Peters family. Tim treated us to supper, and we stayed in the home of Lori

Haugen.

Then we crossed ^e Mississippi, and spent some

time in Rochester with my old (v;ell, not really old) Bible College room-mate, Ronnie Wernimont, and his lovely wife, Rosalie. Soon we were heading south to Iowa for a
wonderful time with the Clarence Ouversons, and then on

to Liscomb, where Stan and Becky Sneed opened wide their doors and their hearts to us, while Marvin and Nancy

Doran kindly put up with Tim (or is i t put him up?) I preached in the morning on "PLANTING AND REAPINGV Martiia
and I visited Alice Lorenson, and then Stan and I took

Communion to her 80 years old, and suffering from skin cancer; but still driving her car, and still supporting

missions.

My evening message was on "REVELATIONi"

Chesterton, INDIANA saw us on Monday evening. May 8,just in time for spaghetti at "Handsome Howard's" (That's Foster, not Johnson's). We also enjoyed fellowship with Rex & Eileen Mitchell, Bryce Morgan, and Beverly Kolasa, who attended our missions presentation in Michigan City. In Tinley Park, ILLINOIS we enjoyed the hospitality of Walter Leeper and Marjorie Marbach, and were fascinated to meet a group of Jews in Hillcrest who accept Jesus as
their MESSIAH. I brought them a message from ISAIAH.

Sunday, May 14, found us in WILMINGTON for the morning service, and STREATOR in the evening, with a message on
"SEND THE LIGHT THE LIFE AND THE LOVE I" I t was

so good there to renew fellowship with our fantastic

forwarding agents Harry and Shirley Camp, and to meet with Alma Jones for scripture and prayer.
And so we said good-bye, and flew over Lake Michigan, down to Tennessee, swooping low over Tampa, and down into Miami. We spent the night there, and boarded our South African Airways' jet the next day. We flew off into the sunset, experienced a terrifying jolt in the Bermuda tri^gle during the night, but the Lord brought us safely through to Table Mountain and Cape Town.

GPEENHAVEN
++++++++++

Recently in South Africa our rugby team the SPRINGBOKS won the VJorld Cup. This led to me bringing a message in

Greenhaven on "CHRISTIAN TEAM VJORKV

I also brgught them a

lesson on Jude, and this morning a message on "JOHN 17." A wonderful spirit of Christian love is growing among them. One sister said: "Satan tried to stop me from coming, but I
had to be here to hear Pastor Carroll t e l l us that Jesus i s

praying for me!"

MITCHELL'S PLAIN
++++++++++++++++

In Mitchell's Plain I have recently brought messages on

"JONAH" and "DEUTERONOMY." Brother Chris said: "V7e tend

to forget the Ten Commandments, and it's good to be reminded

again."
BIBLE SUMMARY
+++++++++++++

My Bible Summary. STRAIGHT TALK FROM GOD, is nearing its final phases. I am now keying the book of MICAH into the computer. I just need to do NAHUM to MALACEI, and then redo
I KINGS. After that I will need to do the corrections, and

the Bibliography, and send the final proof to Tyndale House. Please pray for God's guidance and direction on this. Many people saw and heard the rough proofs, and we received a lot of encouraging and favorable comments. Martha's brother, Stephen, is having some trouble setting up the printer for the book of LEVITICUS, but Lara is going to help him today.
Here i s a selection from DEUTERONOMY 34

Moses now climbed from the plains of Moab to Pisgah Peak

in Mount Nebo. The Lord showed him the Promised Land as

they looked out over Gilead.

"This is the land I promised to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob," said the Lord. "Now yoxir own eyes have seen ito"
Then Moses, the servant of the Lord, died in the Icuid of Moab just as God had said. The Lord buried him in a nearby valley, but no one knows the exact place Moses was 120 years old when he died, yet his eyesight v;as perfect, and he was as strong as a young man. The people of

Israel mourned for him for 30 days there on the plains

of Moab.

Joshua, his successor, was filled with wisdom,

because Moses had laid his hands on him. So the people

of Israel obeyed Joshua, and follov/ed the commands that

the Lord had given them through Moses Tnere has never been another prophet like Moses.

The Lord spoke to him face to face, and at God's command he performed amazing miracles miracles that have never been equalled since that time. He did great and terrifying wonders in the presence of Pharoah and his entire court in Egypt, as well as among the people of
Israel in the wilderness. ====oo00oo===

DECEMBER, 1995 -7^,..

Yes! South Africa

is calling you again. I really don't know what happened to this year. I turned around, and there it was

GONE! Did you notice that too? I tell you -- old age is creeping up! Lara said the other day: "You've got to work through a whole 21 years to become of age, and then in another 19 years you're 40!" I said: "Yes - and in another 19 years you're pushing 60!" Well, I should know, because I'm already 60! Ooh boy.
It was wonderful this past month to share in a

baptismal service for four of our people. We made our

way to Princess Vlei - a lake on the Cape Peninsula -where I brought a message on "THE NEW BIRTH". Brother Chris Lakay performed the baptism. It is such a

joy to see new souls born into Christ, and we do praise

God for these tangible rewards for our labors! It was also my privilege recently to share in the
ordination service for Brother Chris at the ALOE ROAD congregation in LENTEGEUR, MITCHELL'S PLAIN. There

was a good group from several different areas. I gave the prayer duringthe laying on of hands c^rQmony,

In MILNERTON two weeks ago I had the rare

opportunity to perfbrm the wedding ceremony of a

Russian man, Eddie Pctrov, to a Cape Town woman.

Anumber of Russians were present, and it was good to bring them the message of the gospel of LIGHT, LIFE
and the LOVE of our Lord. The service was well received.

At GREENHAVEN I have been preaching on Sundays as well as teaching on Wednesdays. My Bible Studies are

centering around the Book of ACTS, while my Lord's Day

Messages have concentrated on the "FRUIT OF THE
SPIRIT".

My Young People's Bible Summary, "STRAIGHT

TALK FROM GOD", is nearly all keyed into the computer now. The next step is the final editing stage before submtsston to the^publtsher. Please^pray with me God will continue to lead in each phase of this, and that His name will be glorified. At the ALOE ROAD Congregation in MITCHELL'S PLAIN I am bringing a series of messages on the MINOR

PROPHETS, using my Bible Summaries as the base of the messages. They are proving to be a blessing to those who
come.

Martha's son, Bradley, left recently on a flight to MALAYSIA and PERTH, AUSTRALIA to spend a few months with his father. We have already been in contact with him by phone. He's okay, but missing home.
Tim has called from WISCONSIN with the news that

he is engaged. We are very happy for him, and pray God's blessing on him and Sue.

Jo, my eldest in JOHANNESBURG advises that she and her husband Jon are doing well. She is being kept very busy doing alot of commercials for TV and radio. Martha and I paid a visit to the Assemblies of God Congregation here in EDGEMEAD where we are living. We
were warmly received.

We are deeply thankful to all of you who are praying for our labors here, and supporting us in this
work.

We wish all of you a blessed Christmas, and a v^xy happy and prosperous New Year.

May the Lord encourage you, guide you, and richly supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by
Christ Jesus.

In closing we bring you a few verses from Job 28 in

'STRAIGHT TALK FROM GOD."
-ooOOoo--

1.

Sure, man can dig a silver mine. And he can work with gold, we know. He brings up iron to refine. And copper from the rock below.

9.

Down to the mountains' roots he goes. And drills clean through the flint below
To find those choice and precious stones. And make those hidden jewels glow.

- 4 -

12.

But where is wisdom? Ask him now --

Yes, where is understanding s source?

Ah, that's the thing man doesn't know -His life has somehow missed it's course.

2(t

Well, where does wisdom stay today? And where can understanding be?
We lost it somewhere on our way --

The grave itself can't find the key!

23. God knows where wisdom can be found,
He also knows how much it's worth.
He sees the universe all round.

25.

27.

And peers down to the depths of earth. When God gave wind the strength to blow,
When every seashore He had mapped, When He made raindrops fall below, - When lightning flashed- and thundercracked,

Then God saw wisdom with clear eyes --

Approved it all, and said to man;

"Revere the Lord - and you'll be wise.

Repent from sin --you'll understand!"
