A beautifully illustrated, multicultural childrens picture book based on one of Ziggy Marleys most beloved songs, I Love You Too. The book explores a childs relationship with parents, nature, and the unstoppable force of love. This is Ziggys rst book, though his foray into childrens music is extensive and very well known. He is the singer of Believe in Yourself, the popular theme song of the hit TV show Arthur. About this book, Ziggy says, One day I was in my kitchen making breakfast with my then three-year-old daughter Judah. She looked at me and said, I love you. I spontaneously replied to her, I love you too. From that came the song and now the book based on the lyrics. I hope you share and enjoy this with your loved ones as I have with mine. Ziggy Marley is a devoted father and husband, multiple Grammy Award winner, Emmy Award winner (for his song I Love You Too in the animated series 3rd & Bird), humanitarian, singer, songwriter, producer, and reggae icon, who has released fteen critically acclaimed albums. His early immersion in music came at age ten when he sat in on recording sessions with his father, Bob Marley. As the front man of Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers, he released eight best-selling albums, with such chart-topping hits as Look Whos Dancing, Tomorrow People, and Tumblin Down. Ziggys rst solo album, Dragony, was released in 2003 and was followed by two Grammy Awardwinning solo albums, Love Is My Religion (Best Reggae Album) and Family Time (Best Childrens Album). Coinciding with the release of I Love You Too, Marley released his brand-new album, Fly Rasta, in April 2014.
Bob Marleys rst and most famous son, Ziggy, extends his devotion to youth with his debut childrens book.

Harriet Ziefert on the advantage of being a small, independent publisher: In childrens book publishing, the author and the illustrator of a picture book have traditionally been kept apart. All communication is through the editor and/or art directora clumsy, timeconsuming, and uninspired arrangement. This means an illustrator is given a nished text for which he is to supply the art. If the artist wants to make suggestions for the writer, it means a long pause in the sketching phase while the editor discusses the proposed text changes with the author. Cumbersome? Yes. My vision is to deliberately put author and artist in a room together and let them talk freely. In a few hours, the two of them should be able to agree on changes that work for each of them and, hopefully, make a better book. In fact, an ideal publishing environment would have an afternoon a month where any artist or author under contract could bring his or her works in progress and get input from anyone else attending that day. In order to encourage creative collaboration, why cant the oces of a publisher become more like a Bauhaus atelier? A small publisher should have the time and energy both to attract and nd talent . . . people who might not get a hearing elsewhere. Less time in all kinds of meetings means more time in one-onone relationships with authors and artists. Small means no acquisition committees. Books are acquired by an editor who makes an informed decision on what he/she thinks is worth publishing. Input from others is at the editors discretion. Small means little sales and marketing input on acquisitions. The list is editorially driven . . . the sales force sells the books as presented . . . marketing gures out the strategy to do it. Small means nimble. A large publisher has the turning radius of a battleship . . . a small one can zip around like a VW Beetle. Small means quick editorial responses and hence less waiting-for-feedback time for the folks on the creative side. Artists often lose weeks, and sometimes months, while waiting for the art director to get back to them. Most of all, small means a collaborative environment where people can work together on a compact, human scale to create books they are passionate about.

July 24 My mother named me Gabriella, after my grandmother who, coincidentally, didnt want to meet me when I was born because my mother was unmarried, and therefore living in sin. My mom has told me the story many, many, MANY, times of how, when she confessed to my grandmother that she was pregnant with me, her mother beat her. BEAT HER! She was twenty-ve. That story is the basis of my sexual education and has reiterated why its important to wait until youre married to give it up. So now, every time I go out with a guy, my mom says, Ojos abiertos, piernas cerradas. Eyes open, legs closed. Thats as far as the birds and the bees talk has gone. And I dont mind it. I dont necessarily agree with that whole wait until youre married crap, though. I mean, this is America and the 21st century; not Mexico one hundred years ago. But, of course, I cant tell my mom that because she will think Im bad. Or worse: trying to be White. Gabi Hernandez chronicles her last year in high school in her diary: Cindys pregnancy, Sebastians coming out, the cute boys, her fathers meth habit, and the food she craves. And best of all, the poetry that helps forge her identity. Isabel Quintero is a library technician in the Inland Empire. She is also the events coordinator for Orange Monkey and helps edit the poetry journal Tin Cannon. Gabi is her debut novel.

This girl loved her dog, but she also loved her special book. And Book loved her. But how about Book and Egg Cream? Could they coexist as the girls two favorite things in the whole wide world? Take Away the A is a fun, imaginative romp through the alphabet. The idea behind the book is that within every language there are words that change and become a dierent word through the simple subtraction of a single letter. In other words, without the A, the Beast is Best. Or, without the M, a chomp becomes a chopthough it could be that this particular play on words didnt even make it into the book, there are so many! We certainly dont want to give too much away. . . . Now, take a look and nd some more! Discovering all of the words in the book is a lot of fun, and then theres the wild, exciting adventure that follows, of trying to nd more! Michal Escoer was born in France in 1970. One snowy night, a fox loses its way, entering a village. Chased away by the grown ups, Fox takes shelter in a greenhouse. A little boy sees this from his window. Without hesitating, he brings a basket of food to the greenhouse, where he leaves it for the fox. His gift is noticed and the night becomes a garden of new life, nourished by compassion and kindness. Princesse Camcams cut-paper illustrations, along with the beautiful lighting of the sets she creates, make the experience of looking at these illustrations both touching and transcendent. An educational resource to help children explore the issue of fair trade by allowing them to see through the eyes of the children of banana farmers in the Windward Islands. The author spent time with the farmers families and she uses the real-life narratives of two young children going about their daily activities to show how bananas grow, how problems such as hurricanes can affect the crop, how they are picked and transported, and how they end up in our stores. The main story is illustrated with colorful collages made from painted textures and photographs from the Islands. Interspersed in the story are boxes with maps, facts, and photographs giving more detail on the places and methods and challenges. Its ends with banana recipes and bigger picture descriptions, maps and photographs of where bananas come from, and examples of social premium funded projects. With plenty of points for discussion, Julianas Bananas will give girls and boys an insight into the lives of children like them in the Caribbean and how fair trade premiums help communities all over the world build better living conditions. Ruth Walton is skilled in many areas of book design, including illustration, layout, and typography. She produces educational books using a combination of letterpress, illustration, collage, and photography. Previous books include the Lets Find Out series.
