Tortoise and Hare live in the forest. Every day Hare teases Tortoise. He says Tortoise is very slow. I can run to that tree in ten seconds. You cant crawl to that tree in ten hours! says Hare.

Tortoise doesnt like to be teased. One day he says to Hare, I can beat you in a race! Hare laughs and laughs! Nobody can beat me. I run so fast! he says.

Tortoise is mad. I can beat you! he says again, Lets race! Hare laughs again. You are crazy, Tortoise! You crawl so slowly! he says. But nally Hare agrees to the race.

Its the day of the race! Many animals arrive to watch. Tortoise and Hare are waiting at the starting line. Owl blows the whistle. The race begins!
