Complaint Description
Description We have recently received a letter and invoice in the amount of $1065 from Getty Images which is located at 605 5th Ave. S, Suite 400, Seattle, WA 98104. We hired a web development firm to design a website for our candidate screening service and apparently this company used an image from Getty. We were not aware of any compliance issues until we received a letter and invoice from Getty in the mail. We immediately removed the image as soon as we were aware of this situation and are more than willing to pay a fair price for the image but find it extremely difficult to believe that the cost should be anywhere near $1065. Based on research I have done, it appears that it is a common business practice for the Getty Images License Compliance Department to notify many businesses with a big bill in the mail. Our intent is to comply with the applicable copyright laws but we request that a reasonable settlement be negotiated to resolve this matter.
