Yahira Romero 4/16/14 GCU 114 Spains Loss of Culture Throughout the years Spain has gained and

lost different traditions. We can only see the loss in culture that Spain has had. In the beginning years Celtic traditions were happening throughout the county but as years go by and people slowly ruled over Spain there was a new leader, he made everyone have the same religion and if you didnt you would be kicked out of Spain (Princeton University). If we go back and look at the past we can truly see that culture has been changed. Throughout Spains history there have been many different languages. In the beginning of time Spain was free and could speak whatever language they wanted. Now that there has been rulers there are studies that show Spanish is the primary language (Spain, 2004). Now more people have been speaking Spanish which makes Spanish one of the top languages spoken in Spain.

The image to the left represents how the languages used to be in Spain and now just imagine all the yellow being everywhere. (Author Unknown, 2011).

Many other traditions have been lost during the years. Meals might be altered now days to fit our fast paced life. In years before dinners would take all day to cook down and be hardy now dinner might take Spaniards a couple of minutes to an hour to have a similar type of food. Bull fighting was a little sport back in the day when riders wanted to kill them and eat them for dinner. Now there are competitions to see who can stay on longer. This is not a loss of culture but it has been altered. Some of the citizens still follow some cultural activities for example the running of the bulls, dancing flamenco, and having traditional meals (Culture of Spain).

Spain has lost and gain different cultures. When Spain was being taken over by many countries they had gained many new activities. Since they are a whole country now they all particularly do the same things.
