(lthough the Elvis formula films were pretty much the same when they were released, two factors made some significantly more appealing and memorable than othersC the actress playing his love interest and the songs that were incorporated into the production. ( third variable, more important A4 years later, is how well each film has held up. *enerally the less exotic the setting and the further Elvis is from an ocean, the better they have aged. =n this regard DTic"le eD benefits from its desert ranch and western *host Town setsBnothing elaborate and the only water is a rain storm. ........................................................................................................................................ This really is an entertaining movie. (lthough corny, it ma"es you laugh if you thin" about how stupid it is and how much movies have evolved since then. Elvis absolutely hated these movies. +e did enEoy his first four, , #ove me Tender, #oving Fou, 'ailhouse Roc", and &ing )reole- &ing )reole was his favorite to ma"e and probably his best movie period. +e hated ma"ing the silly musical movies of the sixties. +e "new they were stupid. +owever, )olonel Par"er had him brainwashed in the beginning and before Elvis "new what he was doing was going to ruin his career for 7 years, he was already obligated into contracts 5 years in advance. +e went on to ma"e a comebac" in :367 and reclaim his throne as the "ing of roc". That is what he is, the "ing of roc" nG roll, and he wasnGt a bad actor either, he did the best with the absolutely +@RR=$#E scripts thrown at him as he could. +e did Eust as well with those scripts as $rando could have. ........................................................................................................................................ ( very funny film. The soundtrac" was composed of old songs from earlier Elvis #Ps ,to "eep the filmGs budget at a minimum-. Elvis loo"s great and 'ocelyn #ane loo"s incredible. =n my opinion ,along with many others-, 'ocelyn was the prettiest costar Elvis ever had. 'ulie (dams is very attractive as the DolderD woman. Practically all of the women in the film are hot ,and there are loads of groovy gals-. =n factBBalthough not intending to beBBDTic"le eD remains one of the best childrenGs pictures ever. = certainly couldnGt get enough of it when it played at the local theater when = was in grade school. = went bac" to see it again five timesH /hat can = sayI Puberty callingH ........................................................................................................................................ < This is the only movie for which Elvis Presley did not record a new soundtrac". (ll the songs had been recorded between :364 and :369, and had already been released on several albums or singles. < Elvis made this film in a deal with the floundering (llied (rtists which saw him ta"e a pay cut and not record any new material in exchange for 54J of the filmGs profits. The film was a big earner, which is credited in saving (llied (rtists from ban"ruptcy. < an who fightGs with #onnie ,Elvis Presley- is PresleyGs bodyguard and personal friend Red /est. < /hile filming Elvis Presley gave his !ony video camera to director 2orman Taurog. (t the time those cameras were really rare in K!(. Taurog li"ed the idea of it because with video camera he can shoot the scene himself and watch the scene before it goes to edit.
