Steps to Be Taken to Manually Backup Required Files on an iFIX 3.

5 or Prior Syst em (Source Machine) and Manually Restore to your iFIX 5.1/5.5/5.8 (Target Machin e). Source Machine (eg. machine running iFIX 3.5 or prior) 1. Launch the SCU and click Configure and select Security - click Edit then sele ct Configuration and then click the "Disabled" radio button to disable the secur ity then click OK - this will disable the security temporarily. 2. Report Out the existing iFIX user security information: (a) Click Edit then select Configuration and then click the "Disabled" radio but ton to disable the security then click OK - then click the X to close the SCU an d click Yes to Save Changes. (b) Click File then select Export and save the security file information to Dyna mics\LOCAL directory as Security.RPT file. (c) Click Edit and then select Configuration and then click the "Enabled" radio button to reenable the security then click OK - then click the X to close the SC U and click Yes to Save Changes. 3. Manually backup all .CSV, .CFG and .DAT files in the Dynamics\HTR directory. 4. Manually backup all .H04, .H08 and/or .H24 files for each listed node under t he Dynamics\HTRDATA directory. 5. Manually backup ONLY the Security.RPT file in the Dynamics\LOCAL directory. NOTE: It is recommended that a new SCU file be created manually for the new nod e on the new IFIX machine and not to backup existing *.SCU files on the source m achine/restore to target machine due to potential issues with iFIX security; pat h configuration differences; etc. 6. Manually backup all .GRF, .TGD and the User.FXG files in the Dynamics\PIC dir ectory - NOTE: If you have created any custom color tables (.FTB) or custom dyna mos (.FDS) these should be backed up as well. 7. Export the existing iFIX database file and any I/O driver configuration files , saving each as a .CSV file and then manually backup these .CSV files as well a s the AlarmAreas.AAD, any .PDB; any .EVS files, and any driver configuration fil es (eg. *.ABR, *.MB1, etc.) in the Dynamics\PDB directory. 8. Manually backup all files in the Dynamics\RCC directory - (as applicable). 9. Manually backup all files in the Dynamics\RCM directory - (as applicable). 10. Finally, if security is enabled, then re-enable User Based Security on the s ource machine by opening the SCU and clicking on Configure - Security then the K ey icon in the Toolbox to launch the Configuration then click the Enabled radio button and click OK and Click on the "X" to close the Security Configuration and then click the "Yes" button when prompted with the message "Configuration has c hanged. Save new changes?" Target Machine (eg. machine running iFIX 5.1 or higher) 1. Manually restore the backed up directories/files to the target machine as fol lows:

(a) Restore all backup files from the Dynamics\HTR directory to the Program File s\Proficy\Proficy iFIX\HTR directory; (b) Restore all backup files from the Dynamics\HTRDATA directory to the Program Files\Proficy\Proficy iFIX\HTRDATA directory; (c) Restore all backup files from the Dynamics\LOCAL directory to the Program Fi les\Proficy\Proficy iFIX\LOCAL directory; (d) Restore all backup files from the Dynamics\PIC directory to the Program File s\Proficy\Proficy iFIX\PIC directory; (e) Restore all backup files from the Dynamics\PDB directory to the Program File s\Proficy\Proficy iFIX\PDB directory; (f) Restore all backup files from the Dynamics\RCC directory to the Program File s\Proficy\Proficy iFIX\RCC directory; (g) Restore all backup files from the Dynamics\RCM directory to the Program File s\Proficy\Proficy iFIX\RCM directory. 2. Create a new SCU file and configure the file as required, making certain to c hange the node name (as required). 3. If security is to be enabled on the target machine, open the Security Configu ration in the SCU and click File then Import and import the restored Security.RP T file. 4. Recreate all user passwords for each of the Users prior to enabling security (as failure to do so will lock all users out of the iFIX system). 5. Finally, once the security information has been imported, and the user passwo rds have been recreated then reenable User Based Security by doing the following : (a) Click the Key icon in the Toolbox to launch the Configuration. (b) Enable the User Based Security by clicking the "Enabled" radio button and cl ick OK. (c) Click on the "X" to close the Security Configuration and then click the "Yes " button when prompted with the message "Configuration has changed.
