INTER ORGANIZATION TRANSFERS

INTER ORGANIZATION TRANSFERS Scope and Application This document is intended for users of Oracle Inventory applications. This document does not address the accountin distri!ution for inter " or ani#ation transfers. Note$ Items must !e defined in !oth or ani#ations in order to !e a!le to transfer INTER ORGANIZATION TRANSFERS %ou can define multiple inventories& 'arehouses& and manufacturin facilities as distinct or ani#ations. (ith Oracle Inventory you can perform inter)or ani#ation transfers as direct or intransit shipments. %ou can transfer one or more items in a sin le transaction. %ou can also transfer partial *uantities of the same item to different su!inventories and locators in a sin le transaction. The items you transfer must e+ist in !oth or ani#ations. %ou can also transfer e+pense and asset items from one or ani#ation to another usin intransit inventory. Direct Interorganization Transfers %ou can use a direct inter)or ani#ation transfer to move inventory directly from a shippin or ani#ation to a destination or ani#ation. The validity of a transfer transaction depends on the controls you have defined in !oth the shippin and destination or ani#ations for the items you 'ant to transfer. For e+ample& you can transfer item A from or ani#ation , to or ani#ation %& even thou h item A is under lot control only in or ani#ation , -you can specify the lot num!ers for item A in or ani#ation , durin the transfer transaction.. /o'ever& you cannot transfer item 0 from or ani#ation , to or ani#ation % if item 0 is under lot control only in or ani#ation % -you cannot specify lot num!ers for item 0 in the destination or ani#ation !ecause you are performin a direct transfer.. InterOrganization Transfers via Intransit Inventory %ou usually transfer material to intransit inventory 'hen transportation time is si nificant. (hen you perform the transfer transaction& you do not need to specify the delivery location. %ou only need to enter the su!inventory you are shippin from& a shipment num!er& the frei ht information& and& dependin on the inter)or ani#ation transfer char e that applies !et'een the or ani#ations& a percenta e of the transaction value or a discrete amount that Oracle Inventory uses to compute transfer char es. If the FO0 point is set to Receipt in the Shippin Net'or1s 'indo'& the destination or ani#ation o'ns the shipment 'hen they receive it. If it is set to Shipment& the destination

or ani#ation o'ns the shipment 'hen the shippin or ani#ation ships it& and 'hile it is intransit. (hile your shipment is intransit& you can update shippin information such as the frei ht carrier or arrival date in the 2aintain Shipments 'indo'. See$ 2ana in Shipments& Oracle 3urchasin 4ser5s Guide. At the time of shipment& you must define your receivin parameters for the destination or ani#ation. %ou can receive and deliver your shipment in a sin le transaction or you can receive and store your shipment at the receivin doc1. See$ Receipts& Oracle 3urchasin 4ser5s Guide. %ou can also transfer item 0 from or ani#ation , to or ani#ation % if item 0 is under lot control only in or ani#ation % -you can specify lot num!ers for item 0 in the destination or ani#ation 'hen you perform the receivin transaction..
