This experiment was conducted to show that tile intensity of radiation on a surface is inversely proportional to the square of the distance of the surface from the radiation source. Thus, in this experiment, the power was kept constant which was 250 Watt. Where as, the distance

from the heat source of radiation was varied from 0.1m to 0.6m.

Based on the result obtained, it gave a linear line of an inversely proportional relation between log10 R, which calculated from the radiometer reading and log 10 X, calculated from distance between radiation source and detector.

Generally, more near the distance of

detector with the source of radiation will give higher reading and vice versa. This situation is based on the transfer of energy through vibration of particles from the source to the detector are affected by the distance between them. As the source emits radiation energy, by nearer distance, the detector could detect higher amount of energy emitted before its losses to the surrounding. While at higher distance, the

energy emitted tends to lost to the surrounding before it reaches to the detector, making lesser amount of energy is detected.
Where as, a log-log plot of radiometer reading against distance resulted in straight line having a negative slope of -1.4207. This should verify the inverse square relationship between distance and radiation intensity. Unfortunately, the result obtained (the slope from graph) was not -2, but -1.4207 instead.

These large deviations are based on a few reasons. The experiment was conducted under air-conditioned environment, which was not at the ambient or room temperature. Heat energy from heat source are transferred through ambient by convection heat transfer, could increase the rate of heat loss, as the temperature difference was high. Thus, the accuracy of result are strayed a partly from theoretical value. Furthermore, the situation that the experiment was conducted are under penda flour light. This light source are also present in amount of radiation. This was also a apart of inaccuracy of the result obtained. Besides, human body (the person conducting the experiment) emitting an amount of radiation also affects the result of the experiment.
