To Whom It May Concern: The members of the Student Government Executive Board would like to address the ongoing investigation of Regent Wallace Hall and the allegations of student privacy violations incidental to his extensive records requests. In November 2013, the Student Government Assembly dictated their position on this issue in the form of J.R. 2- A Vote of No Confidence in Regent Wallace Hall. In light of the allegations detailed in an investigative report compiled by Rusty Hardin & Associates, LLP we feel it is necessary, as an Executive Board, to reaffirm the Assemblys stance as outlined in J.R. 2, and, further, call for the immediate resignation of Regent Wallace Hall. According to the Hardin Report, there is commensurate evidence to support the allegations that Regent Wallace Hall may have committed multiple criminal offenses through the disclosure of information that is protected by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Texas Public Information Act (TPIA). The report goes on to state that these offenses, in addition to several others, could present a sufficient basis for the House Committee on Transparency in State Operations to recommend Regent Halls impeachment. The members of the Student Government Executive Board maintain that these allegations of misconduct, as well as the documented behavior of Regent Hall over the duration of the past two years, are sufficient causes, in and of themselves, to doubt Halls ability to adequately govern the University of Texas System as a regent. As students, we have a vested interest in the future of higher education in the State of Texas, and Wallace Halls alleged actions and observed behavior as a regent of the University of Texas System have disrupted the daily operations of our university, caused a lengthy and polarizing media debate, and have potentially violated student privacy rights. Based on this information, the members of the Student Government Executive Board, acting independently, call for the immediate resignation of Regent Wallace Hall in an effort to refocus the attention of the media, the campus community, and the Board of Regents on the core purpose of this university to transform lives for the benefit of society. Sincerely,
