OVERVIEW

PlanSwift construction estimating takeoff software calculates everything you need to get an estimate together, labour, square footages, perimeters, volumes of simple or complex areas, beams, rebar, studs, gallons of paint, concrete, insulation, gravel and length of copper wire (or anything in between). With PlanSwift you will be able to start your takeoff as soon as you hear about the job. No more waiting for prints or plots from the Architect or Engineers. You are finished in a fraction of the time it used to take and your accuracy will improve using PlanSwift. What if the cost of materials or labour rates changes? No problem, update a field in the software and reprint the report.

Software requirements:
This will be a take-off software system similar to PlanSwift but without the estimating feature (As required by you). In it, the unique selling point has to be user friendly it will be easy for anyone to actually start using the software from day one without extensive training. It will be designed so that licences can be sold to clients with a customer number & password. And the software writer must be available to provide technical backup to clients after purchase.

Software specifics: 1. It must be able to measure all types of drawings - pdfs, cad etc. 2. Drawings are to be loaded onto the software at the beginning of
each new job.

3. The system should be capable enough for loading 100 +

drawings easily for each contract without a long upload period.

4. The actual measuring by using the mouse must be seamless.

There should be no lag or stutter when zooming in / out,

clicking on items etc.

5. Instead of a heading of "estimating" there should be "measure

summary" and this should be easily exportable to excel.

New Features:
1. The ability to write directly onto drawings will be introduced. 2. The scale when set is to be shown on the screen 3. Separate software "MeasurePlanReader" is included for free so that clients can send complete jobs to others if they have downloaded the reader (basically the reader will be the same as the Pro but no new measures can be carried out) 4. The nodes of adjacent areas to remain visible (if required) so that snapping feature is easier to use 5. Better textures be introduced into the fill areas 6. Existing excel spreadsheets can be imported onto the software

Technology
1. Code design will be in 2D and 3D graphics in Java. 2. Software design will be in Java Swing. 3. Data access will be done using Java RMI.
