First of all, congratulations on

your teams win last weekend. How

did it feel?
It was amazing. Te club hasnt
won the senior mens competition
in six years. Ive been away for the
last four years, but Ive been follow-
ing how my brothers (who play for
the club) have been doing and it was
great to come back and play with
them.
Who else is in your team?
Teres my brothers Matt and Tim
and then theres Johnny and Tim
McHarg. So our team is made up
of ve people and were all brothers.
So where have you been for the
last four years?
I went to Boise State University, in
the United States. I was over there on
a tennis scholarship and I graduated
last May, so now Ive come back, to
keep pursuing tennis and see where
that goes.
What was it like in the States?
It was a bit hard at rst, just being
in a dierent location, and having
to meet new people and living away
from home, but once I adjusted and
got used to it, it was a lot easier. I
really did enjoy it; Id do it all over
again if I had the chance.
So then, whats next for you?
Im planning on going to Germany
in May to play some tournaments
and in their club league, and then
travel around Europe and play tour-
naments. Ill be over there for around
three months all up.
How did you rst get into the
game?
Well Dad played tennis in high
school, and then when Matt was
born, he started, and then Tim fol-
lowed, so I was always growing up
around tennis tournaments and
tennis courts. Id be that kid run-
ning around with a racket and a ball.
I started playing when I was four
and in tournaments when I was
eight.
Awesome. Whos your favourite
tennis player?
Marat San. Growing up, I tried
to play like him hes tall, like
me, and we have similar playing
styles.
Now I have to ask, whos
your pick between Federer and
Nadal?
Federer, but I love Nadal as well.
Hes just more old school. He plays
more of an all-round game, which is
how I like to play hes more tradi-
tional. Hes also a great advocate for
tennis around the world, not that
Nadal isnt, but Ive always seen Fe-
derer as the face of tennis and hell
probably go down as the greatest of
all time.
Getting away from tennis for a
second, do you have a favourite
movie?
Oh, there are so many good mov-
ies. Forrest Gump thats always
been a good one. I like Tom Hanks
as an actor.
What about a favourite band?
It would have to be the Red Hot
Chilli Peppers.
Any meals you particularly en-
joy?
Mums home-cooked roasts are al-
ways good.
You must have missed that while
you were in the States?
Oh, denitely. Tere were some lit-
tle things that I really did miss while
being away and mums cooking was
one of them. When Id come back
home during breaks Id realise how
good mum was at cooking compared
to me!
I know the feeling! Good luck in
Europe.
Cheers mate.
