THE SYNCOPE
On appelle 8pncope,en musiquera prolor gation fl'un temps faible sur un trmps fort ou d'une partie de temps faible sur lapartie forte du temps suivant L a liaison indique qu'il faut xcuterlesnc-j tes bees en passant le'grement de 1' une l'autre sans respirer. Lorsque l a liaison ur.it deux ou plusieurs notes de mme nom, on ne nomme que lapremiere et on en soutient le son pendnt toute la dure'e des valeurs lie'es.
The sj-ncope is when the aceent is transfe r e d from the accented beat to the unaccented beat or from a part of the accented beat to a p a r t of the unaccented beat. The liaison indicates t h a t the tied notes must be executed by passing l i g h t l y from one to thu other without b r e a t h m g . When the haison unites two or more notes of thti same ame only the first one is sung, butthe strain is continued for the valu of the tied notes:
