CEA Meeting Notes 9/8/09

• Introductions

• Wendy Zanol: How to hold a 10 minute meeting at your site. Forms were
distributed to give you a step by step guide on how to successfully hold a
relevant, efficient meeting that reports what the association is doing and how
to encourage member involvement. These forms will also be emailed to site
representatives, along with the tax exempt letter that you can give to
businesses to elicit donations of food for your meetings.

• Rose Devine: AR Raffle. We appreciate your hard work! Do one of the

following:

1) Hold a ten-minute meeting. Bring a sign-in sheet to our next AR meeting.

2) Redecorate your CEA bulletin board and bring a picture to our next AR
meeting.

3) Sign up a new member and bring their application form to our next AR
meeting.

For each activity you do, you will receive a ticket for a bonus raffle to thank
you for going above and beyond to build our membership. Prizes will vary
each month.

• Wendy: $200 Mini-Grants available! The application is an online process and

is due November 13th. Some examples of grants that were awarded last year
are listening centers, senior center field trip, math materials, literature sets,
etc.

• Dawn Koberstein: Student teachers can become CEA members, too!

Saturday, October 3rd there is a booth at the ASU Polytechnic campus. Please
contact her if you can help for part of the day.

• Cecilia Loera: Save the date! October 24th from 11-1 we are having a
CEA picnic at Folley Park! We’ll have a band, burgers, and lots of fun.
Bring your families and all of the CEA members (or potential ones) you know
along with you. We will be sending out flyers for you.

• Bob Harpur: Membership Plan. Across the state AEA has lost members over
the last couple of years due to the issues with the economy. AEA is helping
Chandler with their plan to increase membership. We examined the changes
we are making in comparison to what we’ve done in the past to build
membership.
• There will be a series of online workshops that you can take in order
to learn how to be the best site rep. possible. There will be a Web
Seminar that you can take from home or at school. The workshops will
be easy, and are approved by the district. The first workshop is coming up!
You can choose Tuesday, September 15th from 4:15-5:00, Thursday,
September 17th from 3:15-4:00 or Thursday, September 17th from
