Lesson Title: Grade Level: Subject: CC/GPSs:

Organ System Life Story 7th Science S7L2 Students will describe the structure and function of cells, tissues, organs, and organ systems. a. Explain that cells are organized into tissues, tissues into organs, organs into systems, and systems into organisms. b. Explain the purpose of the major organ systems in the human body i.e., digestion, respiration, reproduction, circulation, excretion, mo!ement, control, and coordination, and for protection from disease". #. $esearch and %nformation &luency Students apply digital tools to gather, e!aluate, and use information. a. Locate, organize, analyze, e!aluate, synthesize, and ethically use information from a !ariety of sources and media '. (reati!ity and inno!ation Students demonstrate creati!e thin)ing, construct )nowledge, and de!elop inno!ati!e products and processes using technology. a. *pply existing )nowledge to generate new ideas, products, or processes

Description of Learning Goals, Standards, Objectives

National Technology Standards:

Long-Term Learning Goal or Outcome:

Students will be able to understand the le!els of organization for li!ing organisms. Students also will be able to understand of how organs systems wor). +sing the prezi http,--prezi.com-.cld/01rrn#a-2 utm3campaign4share5utm3medium4copy groups of students will create their own prezi emulating the example" discussing an organ system. 6he students will be gi!en an organ system and create a prezi that explains what the organ system does, which organs create the system, and go from the organ system down to the cell, explaining each step in a creati!e fashion. 6he students will be graded on the rubric created by the teacher, with the standard being 707.

ABCD O !ecti"es or Outcomes:

Descri#tion o$ Assessment
Assessment Plan: &ormati!e assessment, 6he students will ha!e to summit for homewor) the websites they are going to use and which student is doing what for their prezi. 6his will be for a participation grade. 6he students will ha!e a wee) to complete this assessment. Summati!e assessment, 6he students will present their prezi and the prezi will be graded using the teacher8s rubric, with the standard being 707. 6he students will ha!e two wee)s to complete the project. 6hese two methods will ensure that the students are on trac) with the lesson and will also show how much the student learned by the end of the lesson.

Acti"ity Design: Class starter and lesson connection: Plan to create curricula that includes diverse and multiple perspectives. I used prezi to demonstrate an example. I showed examples of appropriate websites within m prezi presentation. These websites either have information in text or video form. I will show the students how to search for appropriate sources. !ow will ou "et the students# attention and motivate them$ Students will be shown how to create and prezi and how to present one b the teacher usin" his example prezi. This will allow the student to understand what is expected of them but in a wa that does not seem overwhelmin". There will be a demonstration of different or"an s stems% which the can choose from for their project% usin" videos found at http:&&'ids.discover .com&tell(me&science&bod (s stems. )hat will ou do&sa or have the students do&sa in order to connect this lesson with the previous one or build on prior 'nowled"e$ The teacher will ta'e the previous 'nowled"e of levels of biolo"ical or"anization and relate it to the various or"an s stems in the bod and usin" the example prezi explain what the students will be doin" for their project. *escribe the activities in which ou and the students will en"a"e. +e a ,fl on the wall, and describe in detail what is "oin" on in our classroom. The teacher will set up computer time in the computer labs for the students to wor' on their presentations. The teacher will be wal'in" around observin" and answerin" an -uestions. *escribe the strate"ies ou will use. There will be direct instruction on the re-uirements of the assi"nment. The students will be "iven time to wor' on the script in class. The class will be "iven time to wor' on the research and presentation in the computer lab. *o ou need to provide direct instruction$ If so% describe it. .es% the teacher will "ive the students the example prezi which contains all the re-uirements for the presentation and a rubric that the presentation will be "raded on. Technology Connection: )ill ou facilitate the lesson$ If so% describe our approach. .es after the presentations% the teacher will lin' all the or"an s stems to"ether b explainin" how or"an s stems become or"anisms. )ill students wor' independentl % with a partner or in "roups$ *escribe. The students will wor' in "roups to create and present their prezi. )hat strate"ies% materials% etc. are ou usin" to teach children with exceptionalities$ *ependin" on their exception I will have a specific strate" to help the student with the assi"nment. )hich technolo" will support the lesson$ List the technolo" % software% /0Ls% etc. that ou and&or the students will use. *escribe the technolo" inte"ration strate"ies ou will use. &aterials and 'esources: Prezi% http:&&prezi.com&1cld23-rrn4a&$

(uture Actions : :nswer the followin" -uestions: ;xplain how ou incorporated information from the chapter and *<L modules into this lesson plan. I used a )eb <.3 tool that I haven#t ever used before. I also would encoura"e +.=* if the student has one. If a "roup does not have one% I would provide them with one. :nd the students that do have one are more than welcome to store their +.=* within m classroom for safe 'eepin". :fter considerin" this lesson plan% what will ou do differentl when ou desi"n the next
