industry. It explores and explains trends between race, sex and job classifications. It can be used to show how gender roles that where prevalent in the beginnings of broadcasting have transferred into present day. This is a strong source because it is an academic journal, giving it more credibility. The source is going on twenty years old, but it is evident that the problems addressed are still prevalent just by watching or listening to any sports broadcast. Hendrick, T. (2000). The art of sportscasting: How to build a successful career. Lanham, Maryland: Diamond Communications. The source gives on how to build a career in sports broadcasting. It is a strong source because it gives advice from some of the best in sports broadcasting and tells their stories. The stories are enjoyable and easily hold the readers attention. This may be a weak source because of the age of the book. Since this book was written a lot of things about media and social media have changed. Hilmes, M. (2014). Only connect: A cultural history of broadcasting in the united sates. (4th ed.). Boston: Wadswosrth. This book gives a cultural history of sports broadcasting in the United States from the very beginning till now. This is a strong source because it explains how broadcasting in America works and its culture in a way that is easy to understand. This is also a very new book and is undeniably valid today. It was also written by a very educated and honored writer, increasing its credibility.

This web source tells of the educational requirements that are needed to become a sports broadcaster. It gives a step-by-step breakdown on what is needed and includes a chart on degree, experience and skill requirements in order to become a sports broadcaster. This is a good source because it comes from a well known educational website and was given an excellent rating by the Better Business Bureau. New, B., & Le, G. J. (March 01, 1999). This source can be used to compare what is happening in the UK with monopolization of sports broadcasting to what has the potential to happen in the US or what is already happening here. This is a academic journal so the source is a credible source but the source is fifteen years old. Rivello, I. R. (January 01, 1998). Sports Broadcasting in an Era of Technology: Superstations, Pay-Per-View and Antitrust Implications. Drake Law Review, 47, 1, 177. This source looks at how antitrust laws uniquely influences sports broadcasting based on each professional league. It explores the judicial and legislative history of sports broadcasting and determines what types of broadcasting agreements should be held under antitrust scrutiny as technology becomes more popular and common. This would be a good book understand sports broadcasting law and it

also provides a brief sports broadcasting history. Sports Broadcasting in an Era of Technology is a peer-reviewed source but it is also sixteen years old and some of these law controversies may have been tackled already. Schultz, B. (2002). Sports broadcasting. Woburn: Butterworth-Heineman. This source tells of how to be a successful in the sports broadcasting industry and it covers all of the aspects of sports broadcasting, in front and behind the camera. It does not only give advice on skills and education needed but it covers some of the cultural history of sports broadcasting and shares how it has evolved to what it is today. This is a good source because it is detailed and comprehensive. But, this book is a little old and that may put some of the books information into question of it relevancy. Schultz, B. (2005). Sports media: Reporting, producing and planning. Burlington, MA: Focal Press. This book is a continuation of Sports Broadcasting, by the same author. It covers many of the same points that Sports Broadcasting does but goes slightly more indepth. This book is only slightly newer than Sports Broadcasting, so it could be more relevant but caution should still be taken because of the age of the book. Schwartz, L. (n.d.). This is a good source for dates and understanding of what took place and led up to how things in the sports broadcasting industry came about.

Selling radio: The commercialization of American broadcasting, 1920-1934. Washington: Smithsonian Institution Press. This book explores the beginnings of radio broadcasting in America and how it evolved radio advertising what it is today. It tells of the struggles that radio broadcasting faced in its beginning years and how it overcame adversity and drastically changed advertising in America. This is a good source because it tells the opinion of advertising on the radio from all sides: the listeners, the stations, religious people and even government officials. This is a good source because it comes from a well known educational website thats specialty is connecting degrees to careers and it was given an excellent rating by the Better Business Bureau. This source examines how different business integrations and technology innovations have affected the sports broadcasting market in Norway. It can be

But this source is about Norway so the lines of comparison may not be that parallel so cultural and economic differences will have to be accounted for in comparison between the two places. This source reviews a previous source, Sports Broadcasting by Brad Schultz,

and another book, "Play-by-Play: Radio, Television and Big-Time College Sport," by Ronald A. Smith. This source explains why and how the book makes a significant contribution to the knowledge associated with sports broadcasting. This is a good source because it is peer reviewed and it helps add validity to one of the other sources.
