Whatcha been up to?

When I first came to LCM in the fall, the first thing that I noticed was how welcoming and friendly everyone was. Everybody that I met seemed happy to meet me and delighted to be there. Eventually, I started to play my guitar during the Tuesday evening worship services and attending more and more of the non-Tuesday night events that LCM has to offer. Overall, everything that LCM does provides a great break from all of the stress that comes with schoolwork and studying at Georgia Tech. If it werent for LCM then Id probably never take the time to play my guitar which is pretty big for me. I love getting to play it even though I rarely do when its just me in my dorm. - Noah E.

This semester was my first back to school after a really long internship out-of-state. I have made going to LCM a very consistent event even with the business of school, and being one of the leaders of the ministries has helped me to make the priorities in my life be clear. The people that I meet every week and have gotten to know and love are now my friends, and I know that I always have a family to go to when times may not be so good. Support and friendship is a key discovery that I have found this term at Lutheran Campus ministries, and growing up in this environment is an amazing thing indeed! My goal is to share this place and these feelings with others, and give my time in service to Christ. I have really leaned on LCM as my backbone to approaching the incredibly stressful college life, and it helps me to remember to relax, to listen to Christ, and to not be afraid of what is to come. -Stephen S.

A note from the LCM Student Board

This past year has been exciting for the ministry. Student involvement has increased, and our house has filled beyond capacity on many Tuesday nights for dinner and devotion. Its really encouraging to see new faces walk in one week to check us out and watch them keep coming back. Weve got a good thing going. Its been quite the year. Weve done more service projects than ever before, including phone-a-thons, care packages for soldiers, and volunteering at the Hunger Walk/Run. We have regular game nights twice a month, and community building events playing Whirlyball and jumping on trampolines at SkyZone. Each semester weve gone on a retreat, once to a cabin in the woods, once to the ski slopes. My personal favorite activity is what we call Stump the Pastor. Students ask our pastors the questions theyve always wondered, the hardest questions they can formulate, or just a question thats arisen. For example, What do we mean by resurrection of the body? or even Did God create life on other planets?

As I said, we have more students than ever before involved with our ministry. Each time we gather our community grows and is strengthened. God is surely in our midst. I have recognized that our ministry certainly has the gift of hospitality- everyone is welcomed, met, and loved. We have the best students and the best pastors. We also have the best supporters. Thats you! Im passionate about this ministry that has changed my life and given me a home while Im at college, and I want other students to experience this too. However, this cannot be done without help. My plea to you is this: assist us in our endeavor to continue and expand our ministry. How can you help? You can donate time, energy, or money to our cause- Gods cause. Every little bit counts. Most importantly, you can PRAY! Keep our ministry in your personal prayers and put us in your churchs prayers. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

SoWhat is LCM really?

RETREAT!!
We head off to the mountains and to Lutheranch a few times each year to talk about how God is at work in our lives. Spending time in intentional community is an important way to focus on listening to the community and the voice of God.

TUESDAY NIGHTS @ 6:37pm

Every Tuesday during the semesters, we gather together, eat, hang out, share life and then share worship. During worship we share the Word and Holy Communion. Its down to earth worship and community and all are invited!

TRIPPY TRIPS
Were trippy man Very trippy. We LOVE to get out of town every once in a while. Weve been taking trips since day one giving students time away from the mayhem and intensity of school. We plan mission trips, ski trips and retreats.

GAME/CRAFT NIGHT
Competition and craftiness take place on Thursdays. The students alternate weeks and activities bringing both their creativity and love of sitting around the table going head-to-head with their fellow LCMers. They are always fun and a great way to share community.

Well, now, how can I support LCM??

As we make our way around the church, almost every week someone says to us, We hear that great things are happening at Lutheran Campus Ministries! How can we support what you are doing for our young people? The first answer that we always give is, Pray for our ministry! We believe that God is doing amazing things in the lives of students, and we pray that we always stay in touch with Gods dreams for this ministry. If you have some time and a heart for college students, we say, Come down and hang out with us any Tuesday night during the school year! Dinner starts at 6:37 PM followed by worship. Students need to know that there are lots of Christian adults who care about them. If you and some of your friends enjoy cooking and hospitality, we say, Come make a homecooked meal for students some Tuesday! Table fellowship is a huge part of the Christian life, and college students, in particular, LOVE free food. E-mail Pastor Matt at atlpastor@gmail.com to get the details and join our meal team. If you like food, fellowship, and friendly competition, we say, Mark your calendars for Saturday, August 23rd for the Low Country Boil and Silent Auction at Living Grace Lutheran Church in Tucker. This is the story

The last 3 years at LCM have been a true blessing. So many amazing things have happened but nothing has been better than the relationships Ive built with the other students. Getting to play games, ski trips, camping, game nights and Tuesday night dinner and devotion. LCM has given me the opportunity to meet new friends and gain new experiences. Ive gained friends for a lifetime. I know that no matter when I walk in that door someone will be around to greet me. Ive truly gained a home away from homeI could not be more grateful. - Lindsay R.
