Introduction
This manual contains detailed information on the analog input modules and the analog output modules for the actuator-sensor interface in accordance with AS-i slave profile 7 .3. The following modules are described: 3RK1 3RK1 3RK1 3RK1 3RK1 207-1BQ40-0AA3 for current measurement 207-2BQ40-0AA3 for voltage measurement 207-3BQ40-0AA3 for resistance/thermal-resistance measurement 107-1BQ40-0AA3 for current output 107-2BQ40-0AA3 for voltage output
Modules compliant with slave profile 7 .2 are described in the manual with the order No.: 3RK1 701-2AB01-0AA0. The manual is intended for system planners and for the technicians who install the analog modules and perform startup in the field.

Notes You must be adequately versed in the STEP 7 programming language and in the details of the actuator-sensor interface system. The term "actuator-sensor interface" is abbreviated to "AS-i" in this manual. When connecting sensors (e.g. proximity switches with analog outputs) or actuators with M12 connectors, note the differences in pin assignment between sensor or actuator and analog module.

Module Description
The two-channel modules are local receivers or transmitters of analog signals. These modules connect to the higher-order PLC by means of: - an AS-i master to AS-i Specification 2.1 - a PROFIBUS-DP / AS-i link to AS-i Specification 2.1 The analog modules belong to the AS-i product family and comply with the SIMATIC S7 standard. The modules operate in accordance with AS-i slave profile 7 .3. Module Description
Actuator-sensor interface
The actuator-sensor interface connect to the analog module by means of an ASi ribbon cable (yellow) with penetration technique.
Auxiliary power
The auxiliary-power cable (black ribbon cable) with penetration technique has to be connected to the analog module if total current required for the sensors of the analog input module (applicable to current and voltage modules only) is in excess of 46 mA. If an auxiliary power source is connected the sensor supply is not short-circuit-proof (max. 500 mA). The output modules do not require auxiliary power. The auxiliary-power cable can, however, be connected through for other modules.
Status LEDs
The green AS-i LED and the red FAULT LED indicate the module's operating status. The following combinations are possible:
AS-i LED (green) Off FAULT LED (red) Off Operating status No voltage at module (AS-i powerfail) Polarity of AS-i cable is incorrect On On Off On Module is being polled by the AS-i master. Alternate flashing
) With CP343-2 and Link20E , SFC 58 "WR_REC" must be called with the slave address and suitable data record (140 ... 147) in order to activate triples transmission.
The green AUX PWR LED is on when auxiliary voltage is applied. Only input modules for current and voltage have this LED.

Module Description
Cap
Caps must be fitted to all unused inputs or outputs to ensure that IP 67 protection is maintained.
Shielding / Ground
The modules can be grounded by means of their mounting plates. This is the recommended means of grounding the modules. The shield of the cable connected to the analog input or output can be grounded via the metal collar of the M12 socket. Suitable connectors include the Series 713 shielded M12 connectors manufactured by Franz Binder GmbH.
Operation
The requisites for operating the analog modules are:
A higher-order PLC (for example S7 series) An AS-i master to AS-i Specification 2.1 and compatible with the higher-order PLC An analog module suitable for the application requirements, complete with mounting plate

Addressing
Each module must be assigned one individual address at the actuator-sensor interface. The range of possible addresses is 1 - 31: each address must be unique on the AS-i master. A module's address can be changed any number of times. Each module has a complete address. Other A/B modules cannot be assigned the same address. The requisites for addressing the analog modules are (see order numbers in Appendix A.2):

Watchdog
The red FAULT LED on the slave module lights up if the module does not receive a data frame from the AS-i master for longer than 50 ms.
Periphery fault
In the event of a sensor-supply overload (input modules for current and voltage measurement only) or if data transfer compliant with profile S7 .3 with the module is discontinued, periphery fault bit S1 is set in the slave's status register.
Interference-frequency suppression
You must parameterize interference-frequency suppression for the analog input modules for 50 or 60 Hz, as appropriate.
Wire-break detection
In the 4 ... 20 mA and 1 ... 5 V ranges, the value for overrange/underrange is read in for a wire break (32 767/-32 768 decimal, see also Table 3-4 in Section 3.2.5 and Table 3-8 in Section 3.3.5).

Equipotential bonding
Equipotential bonding is necessary between the individual machines and sensors if two or more analog modules are operated in a common AS-i network. The maximum permissible voltage between sensor and AS-i network is 50 V. The formula for calculating this voltage is as follows:

Analog/digital converter
The analog/digital converter in the modules operates on the sigma-delta principle. The sigma-delta converter calculates the mean value over a defined measuring period (reset time) of 20 ms. The 20 ms value is applicable for 50 Hz interference-frequency suppression; the corresponding period for 60 Hz is 16.6 ms. The mean of a 50 Hz or 60 Hz interference voltage and its harmonics thus approaches zero. The converter computes the digital measured value from three individual measuring periods and outputs this value. The conversion time tc for a module can cycle is thus
tc = 2 channels * (3 * 20 ms + 5 ms) = 130 ms (for 50 Hz) tc = 2 channels * (3 * 16.6 ms + 5 ms) = 110 ms (for 60 Hz)
The 5 ms are due to internal processes in the A/D converter. The following is a block circuit diagram illustrating the layout of the A/D converter.

5.1 Parameterization
The parameters are sent to the AS-i master by the CPU. In the case of the S7300 controller, this requires function block FC "ASI_3422" (FC 7). FC 7 is on a diskette enclosed with the manual for the CP-343-2 and the Link 20 E. When the CPU runs up, FC 7 executes commands including "Erweiterte_Parameter-liste_schreiben" (write extended parameters list) (3CH). The structure of the command data in the send buffer is illustrated in the table below.

The parameter bits of the analog modules or digital modules have to be entered in bytes 2 to 17 . The default parameter FH (1111 binary) is set for slaves that are not specified. Bytes 18 to 33 are not relevant for analog modules. FH must b entered here as the default parameter if no other parameter bits are needed for digital modules. The table below shows the individual parameter settings for the analog input modules.

A/B address
AS-i Spec. 2.1 specifies that max. 62 A/B modules can be connected to an AS-i master. Consequently, each address (1 ... 31) is subdivided into an A address and a B address. Analog modules are not A/B modules and each requires a complete address. Consequently, no more than 31 analog modules can be connected to an AS-i master.
A/D converter
(analog/digital converter) Converts an analog signal into a digital bit pattern. Used in the analog input modules.
Address
Each slave is assigned an individual address by which it is identified by the master. The address is in the range 1 - 31. Address 0 has a special function automatic addressing. The master addresses its slaves by means of their addresses.
Address 0
Address 0 has a special significance: It is the default address of each Automatic addressing.
Actuator
Element which performs actions in response to commands (e.g. contactors, valves, analog control signals).
Analog
In contrast with binary signals, these are continuous values, such as temperature, pressure and so on. A given analog value can be assigned a given electrical current or voltage value.

AS-i

Actuator-sensor interface
The actuator-sensor interface is a networking system for the lowest automation levels. It is suitable for networking binary actuators and sensors.
AS-i master
Master
AS-i cable
The AS-i cable is a specially shaped two-wire cable with polarity-reversal protection interconnecting the slaves and the master for the transfer of information and auxiliary power.
The AS-i power supply unit supplies 30 V DC for the master and all connected slaves. The power supply unit is specially decoupled for the datatransfer streams superimposed on the voltage supply. The power supply unit is short-circuit proof and is complaint with the PELV requirements.
Automatic addressing
The default address of each new slave is 0. When inserted as a replacement for a defective slave, the new module is automatically assigned its predecessor's address.
PLC
Reference potential
Potential against which the voltages on the circuits in question is considered and/or measured.
Binary
Two possible states: ON/OFF , 1/0.
Bit
Digital information carrier, state 0/1 corresponds to the OFF/ON switch signal.

The I/O code defines the correlation between the inputs and outputs of the slaves and the data bits. The I/O code defines 16 different input/output combinations.
ID code
A permanent ID code set by the device manufacturer. The ASi master uses this code to identify the slave and communicate on a differentiating basis with specific slaves.
