OUTLINE OF LESSON: (As appropriate, use the Direct Instruction format & label the parts.)
Anticipatory Set As you are getting on your laptops, check out your google drive. You will notice that there is already a google doc waiting for you that I sent out last night. This is where we are going to find tips and tricks for using Google spreadsheets. Objective After todays lesson, you will be much more productive in Mr. Thomas class. We will be testing that out today by working on some spreadsheets.

Materials -MacBook for each student with previously shared Google Docs: Google Doc Know-How and 3/6 checklist

Rationale Google Documents are awesome! I use them all the time to work on group projects, and they are also great for storing and seeing your work anywhere. This new knowledge will allow you to be successful in this class and beyond. Input For todays activity, we are going to practice making our own spreadsheets to get more comfortable with the google doc system. In your google drive, you will find a document I shared with you called Google Doc Know-How. Open up that document, and lets go through the sections together. Modeling The first column has some good-to-know tips and tricks for manipulating the document. Watch as I adjust the title and make the boxes bigger. As you click and drag, you can change the way your spreadsheet looks. Changing the box size will allow you to fit more text comfortably in a box, which makes working on a project much easier.

-MacBook hooked up to projector

Check for Understanding Terrell, can you walk me through changing my sentence to bold text? Why would that be important? Lets also make the font size larger. Can anyone think of a reason why this would be important? Is there anything else you can think of that should be on our tip sheet? This is a great tool that you can use at any time because it is on your drive! Guided Practice Like Mr. Thomas does, you can also create folders in your google documents. This is one way to share and store your files and submit them for a grade. As you can tell, I shared these documents with you so that you can now see them. To share a document, you need to choose the blue button and enter a teachers email address. For todays practice, I sent you another google doc called 3/6 practice. This will be your direction sheet for the remainder of this lesson. The first step asks you to create a google spreadsheet, so lets all do that together. Dont forget to change the title, which should be your name followed by daily checklist. Independent Practice On your own, follow steps 2-9 on your to-do checklist. These things can be completed with the help of your tip sheet. Remember, you can definitely have multiple tabs open with both google documents. This also comes in handy in social studies, since we need to look at information while we put it into the spreadsheet. Closure Thank you so much for your commitment to todays lesson. Working so quickly and efficiently will allow you to be much faster in Social Studies and other subjects as you continue to use spreadsheets and Google docs. Dont be afraid to keep using your checklist! It is on your drive now, so it will always be accessible.

EVALUATION OF OBJECTIVE: (What you will do to see if the students mastered the objective.) Students will be sharing their google drive document (Your name) daily checklist with me when they have filled it out to my specifications. These specifications are based on the skills my students are currently lacking, and should have learned in the lesson. REFLECTIONS ON TEACHING AND MANAGEMENT CLASSROOM AND BEHAVIOR MANAGEMENT: 1. How did you share your expectations with your students?

2. Did you have any behavioral situations which you needed to address during the lesson? Explain. 3. What considerations (regarding behavior) did you make when preparing for this lesson?

LESSON EVALUATION & RECOMMENDATIONS: 1, Did the students achieve your daily objective for this lesson? How do you know? 2. If you were to teach a follow up lesson tomorrow, what would you focus on? Why?
