FlightCheck ZIP File
Decompress the ZIP file. **The safest way to decompress the ZIP file is to use the Mac OS X built in ZIP Utility. 1. Right Click on the ZIP file 2. Select Open With 3. Select the top most item in the list of suggested applications (For 10.8.X this is Archive Utility.app) 4. This will create a folder named FlightCheck
091713:1150
Drag the ENTIRE FlightCheck folder to your Applications folder. **Important Note -- If you want to make an alias of FlightCheck, MAKE SURE you do not accidentally MOVE the FlightCheck icon out of the folder. If you do, you will get an error stating that FlightCheck cannot find its FlightPlans and that it is aborting during start up.

By default, Mac OS X 10.8.X has security settings that prevent FlightCheck from running. When you try and run FlightCheck you will see the above pictured error message.
Go To System Preferences
091713:1150
Unlock your Security & Privacy Settings to make the changes. This requires an Admin password.
091713:1150
Select "Anywhere"
Select the "Anywhere" radio button. You will then see a drop down asking you to confirm you want to allow applications from anywhere to run. Click on the "Allow From Anywhere" button. You may now run FlightCheck without receiving an error message. Once you run FlightCheck you can set the setting back to "Mac App Store and identified developers" if you wish.

FlightCheck Activation
091713:1150
The splash screen window shown above may be hidden by the Activation and Registration windows shown in the following steps and may not be visible until you close the Activation and Registration windows.
091713:1150
If FlightCheck can successfully activate, you will see the above pictured screen. Click on the Close button to dismiss this screen and start using FlightCheck. At this time you should also have the FlightCheck Registration Screen visible. Please fill out the Registration form before starting to use FlightCheck. Should you have any issues we have provided links on the Activation Complete screen to contact Markzware Tech Support.
091713:1150
The above is a reminder screen to Activate your product. If for any reason FlightCheck was unable to reach our License Server, you can still run the product, but every time you start up FlightCheck you will presented with the above screen reminding you that you must take action by the specified date. VERY IMPORTANT!!!--- If you do not Activate FlightCheck by the date listed on your screen, YOU WILL LOSE YOUR LICENSE AND NEED TO REPURCHASE FlightCheck. If you continuously see this window, you need to contact Markzware Tech Support and get this issue cleared up. Otherwise after the specified date, you are out of luck. This grace period should be long enough and annoying enough that you will take action and contact Markzware before the expiration date arrives.

If you are unable to get out to the internet, you may see the above window that allows you to access some Proxy Server settings. This may resolve your activation issue. Access the proxy settings by clicking on the word here

You may need to contact your IT or Support person to obtain the information for proxy setup. Once you enter the requested information, click on the Save button and then click on the Close button.
091713:1150
If the proxy data you entered allows you to contact the License Server, you will eventually see a successful activation screen. If you do not get a successful activation screen, please contact Markzware Technical Support.

FlightCheck Registration
Why should you register your software? 1. If you are not Registered you may be denied Tech Support as we do not know who you are. 2. If you are not Registered and we run any special promo deals for FlightCheck users, you will not qualify as we won't know who you are or how to contact you.
Please register your version of FlightCheck. Should you refuse to register your product, and contact us for Tech Support, since we have no record of who you are, we will be unable to help you.

What is FlightCheck
FlightCheck is a stand alone preflight program. It is designed to scan through a file and report any issues that you have "flagged" as important. Some of the main features of FlightCheck are: 1. It does not require the installation of the application that created the file being preflighted, you can run FlightCheck on a computer by itself and still preflight InDesign, Illustrator and QuarkXPress files with none of those applications present. 2. FlightCheck can scan a wide variety of file types 3. FlightCheck can auto-switch its rule set for PDF files versus non-PDF files 4. FlightCheck can collect a job's fonts and images (i.e., package up a job) 5. FlightCheck can generate reports 6. FlightCheck is easy to use

To view the Ground Controls, go to the Preflight Menu and click on Show Ground Controls, or use the keyboard shortcut of Command-G.
By default the Ground Controls window comes up with all of its contents hidden except for the entry points into each Ground Control area. Each of the eight buttons on the screen opens up a specific set of rules. Click on the Images button to start.
091713:1150
Note the little arrow near the upper right. Clicking on this will expand the Ground Controls window so that all Ground Controls (i.e., Rules) for the Images area will be visible on screen. Try clicking on the arrow.
Now you can see all of the Image Ground Control Rules at a glance. This is probably the easiest way to view Ground Controls. Let's concentrate on the Resolution Ground Control.
FlightCheck 7 Installation, Activation , Registration & Overview - 30 091713:1150
This Ground Control will check for color images whose resolution is outside of the specified range.
Not all Ground Controls have data entry fields. Most Ground Controls only have a checkbox, thus the statement earlier that FlightCheck is like a template system. You set up templates by selecting the Ground Controls that are important in your particular workflow and then you can save these rule sets as separate Ground Control sets that you can re-use.

With no document open in FlightCheck, the Image Resolution Ground Control is disabled
In the above example, since the Image Resolution Ground Control is disabled, FlightCheck will not flag anything in the Overview Window (1) and will show the document as OK with no problems in the Results Window (2).

Ground Control with condition Detected and Ground Control Set To Warning
In the above example, since the Image Resolution Ground Control is set to the Warning state, that is, it has the little black dot in the Ground Control Checkbox, FlightCheck displays blue text in the Overview Window (1) and displays blue text and additional info in the Results Window (2).
091713:1150
Ground Control with condition Detected and Ground Control Set To Error
In the above example, since the Image Resolution Ground Control is set to the Error state, that is, it has the large black dot in the Ground Control Checkbox, FlightCheck displays red text in the Overview Window (1) and displays red text and additional info in the Results Window (2).
