Summary of Lesson Plan
This social studies lesson is designed for kindergarten students to learn about symbols of the United States. This lesson uses a strategy from the Integrating Language Arts and Social Studies textbook, Understanding Global Symbols (p. 171-179).

MONDAY

C13.K.5 - Name a traditional U.S. patriotic activity, holiday, or symbol. C13.K.5 I can name a U.S. symbol.

This social studies lesson is designed for kindergarten students to learn about the American Flag. The students will learn the history of the American Flag and what is symbolizes.

TUESDAY

C13.K.5A - Develop an awareness of traditional U.S. and Nevada patriotic activities, holidays, or symbols. C13.K.5A I know that the American Flag is a U.S. symbol.

This social studies lesson is designed for kindergarten students to learn about the Pledge of Allegiance. The students will learn what the words mean, and they will begin to memorize the Pledge of Allegiance.
This social studies lesson is designed for kindergarten students to learn that the fourth of July is a traditional U.S. holiday. This lesson uses a strategy from the Integrating Language Arts and Social Studies textbook, Symbolism and Social Studies (p. 143 148).
