Acting to virtual ly confound any criminal-attempt by a hijacker to commandeer an airliner, the ai rliner thus becomes flown only as directed by an authorized remote/flight-contro l station in cooperation with the airliner's remotely-reprogrammed onboard avion ics-system, automatically vectoring the airliner to land safely via the existing avionics/autopilot-system at a designated airport. The AIRCIA -system is initiall y verified for flight-worthiness operation upon every routine preflight/check-li st procedure, its master ECU/restore-switch being accessible externally of the a ircraft-interior. Support-system options include SmartCard-interfacing, and autom atic is engagement of AIRCIA -system in event of natural-cause pilot-incapacitatio n, and ATI(automatic/tranquil-Infusion) which introduces tranquilizing-gas into the airliner's entire interior. ====================================================================== http://patentscope.wipo.int/search/en/detail.jsf?docId=US41415239

A data processing device is connected to the aircraft network data processing system. Updated identity information and a digital signature for the updated identity information are received by the aircr aft network data processing system from the data processing device. The aircraft network data processing system determines whether the digital signature is corr ect and whether the updated identity information is newer than current identity information stored in persistent storage in the aircraft network data processing

Applicants: The Boeing Company Inventors: Moody, Larry A. Agents: Alston & Bird LLP Priority Data: 10277572 21.10.2002 US Title: (EN) System, autopilot supplement assembly and method for increasing aut opilot control authority Abstract: (EN) A system is provided for increasing autopilot control authority in a vehicle, su ch as aircraft including mechanical control systems. The system includes an auto pilot system, a control element and an autopilot supplement assembly. The autopi lot system can automatically control the vehicle by applying a variable autopilo t force to control surfaces. The control element can control the vehicle by appl ying a variable control force to control surfaces, where the control force acts counter to the autopilot force. The autopilot supplement assembly can measure th e control force and, in turn, determine a variable supplemental force. Thereafte r, the autopilot supplement assembly can apply the supplemental force to the con trol surfaces such that the sum of the supplemental force and the autopilot forc e is greater than the control force. Thus, the system may provide the benefits o f systems that require full control authority to vehicles such as aircraft that include mechanical control systems.
