Personal Frame Work Jocelyn Smith

Jocelyn Smith 2 Becoming a teacher requires the ability to use values and ethics in the different skill areas. That is why it is very important to have guidelines when using technology in the classroom. These require exploring theories about ethics that reflect an appropriate usage of not only the type of technology used, but also the way it is applied. In social, educational, cultural, and legal areas ethics are the best way to maintain the proper environment that works in the best interest of teachers and students as well. When discussing ethics in social technology, an essential concern is privacy, students should be taught which information is being shared. This also goes hand in hand with learning how to keep their private information protected. The misuse of social technology can lead to danger as far as cyberbullying, sexting, and talking to strangers through social media. As an educator knowing your districts policy when it comes to social technology is key. Virus protectors should also be frequently updated to ensure the computers safety, which students also benefit from. (14) Educational issues in technology are a common dilemma among teachers. A strong ethic system requires adjustments, and should be properly dealt with. A lack of technology funding can be accommodated by the teacher constantly keeping up with finding opportunities, whether it is through national, local, or low cost and open source options. (14) Students should be taught to familiarize themselves with learning virtually and teachers should provide exemplary skills with specific learning methods and resources. Cultural and equity ethics are also important in educational technology. There is a clear divide between the economic advantages some students have more

Jocelyn Smith 3 than others. As an educator a key solution is to focus on assignments and learning opportunities that all students have access to. Also, advocating for technology that can be used and monitored at the school so each student has the opportunity to learn. Advocating for equal opportunities in electronics for different race, genders, and special needs students. (18) Legal ethics focus on the safety, hacking dilemma, plagiarism, and illegal downloading/ software piracy. When teachers know their school or districts Acceptable use policy, online safety is enforced. Logins can be used to prevent hacking, along with firewalls and filters. Consequences should always be given when students violate and neglect certain rules enforced regarding hacking. When using technology, a wide variety of sources become available, which is why enforcing a noplagiarism policy is essential. Students need to be taught fair use, and use citing. They also should be taught how to take avoid plagiarism that can be unintended. Since the internet has illegal downloading of software and music, students need to be able to distinguish downloading that is essentially stealing and be made aware of these laws. It is also importan to know about intellectual property which is usually protected by property or is patented. Gardener regarded the use of technology in the classroom as just another way that children can learn and grasp what is being taught. He explains how software and resources can be provided so that each child can be able to be productive with their intelligences.

Jocelyn Smith 4 Another famous theorist Benjamin bloom created blooms taxonomy which can play a very important role in framework of ethics in technology. Since remembering is the beginning of the process this can be used by students googling, while using proper safety precautions learned to remember specific areas taught. Understanding process using technology can be met by blog journaling. Applying in technology can be used by uploading and sharing. Analyzing can be used by linking and validating through the web. Evaluating can be used by posting on websites for submission, or networking. Creating can also be used in technology when podcasting, animating and programing is involved.
