Particular game categories will be chosen for students depending on what CCSS standard needs to be worked on by them. 1. Learning Activity Types LA-Practice - practicing for uency LA-Explore - exploring/investigating mathematical ideas LA-Apply - applying mathematics to problems and situations 2. What mathematics is being learned? NCTM Standards NCTM-N&0-understand numbers - understand numbers, ways of representing numbers, relationships among numbers, and number systems; NCTM-N&0-understand operations - understand meanings of operations and how they relate to one another; NCTM-N&0-compute fluently - compute fluently and make reasonable estimates NCTM-Alg-patterns - understand patterns, relations, and functions; NCTM-Alg-symbols - represent and analyze mathematical situations and structures using algebraic symbols; NCTM-Alg-models - use mathematical models to represent and understand quantitative relationships; NCTM-Alg-change - analyze change in various contexts. Prociency Strands PS-conceptual understanding PS-procedural uency PS-strategic competence 3. How is the mathematics represented? The math is presented through several gaming options. Some of the options include puzzles, math computation and others require logic and sense making. 4. What role does technology play? Technology provides the gaming platform for this website. Students will have access to video games that reinforce and introduce math concepts. This site has an advantage of appealing to the gaming desires of students while still focusing on content. Affordances of Technology for Supporting Learning Computing & Automating - Representing Ideas & Thinking - Figuring how to advance to the next level in each game. Accessing Information - Communicating & Collaborating - Capturing & Creating - 5. How does the technology t or interact with the social context of learning? All games are for individual student use. Some of the games are not very clear, which can lead to the opportunity for students to discuss and learn how to navigate the games while practicing peer support. 6.
