The Pro Affordable Care Act and Patient Protection
By Dominic Vinson University Seminar 2
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act should continue to be mandated by the government for all its eligible citizens. It also will help uninsured American Citizens gain coverage with health insurance companies. This also should stay in affect due to the numerous health problems and infirmities being carried by people all over the nation who either do not qualify for health insurance or do not have the funds to pay for it. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act formerly known as the Affordable Care Act (ACA) or Obama Care Is a United States federal statute signed into law by President Barack Obama on March 23, 2010. This was put into place to increase the quality and affordability of health insurance lowering the uninsured rate by expanding coverage and lowering the costs of health care for American citizens and the government. The New York Times published an article on March 23 rd about the signing of The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act where President Obama said the core principle that everybody should have some basic security when it comes their healthcare. In coincidence to this quote from President Obama, the Affordable Care Act expands the quality and availability of private and public health insurance through consumer protections, regulations, taxes, insurance exchanges and other reforms. Currently small firms capacitate to offer small coverage that is limited by high administrative costs, low bargaining power to negotiate benefit design and premiums. This simply means that small insurances companies offer small coverage due to lack of budgeting from high costs of their administration. Personally I feel The Affordable Care Act is a great law that is needed. There are many citizens who are either sick, shut-in, or have died because they couldnt receive medical care due to lack of insurance. As a child, I have always had heredity eye problems. As an infant I contacted Cataracts and had to have surgery. Of course back in 1994 this law was not established but gladly my parents had and still do have health insurance with Kaiser Permanente. Now that this law is established, anyone from the infant age to the elderly age dont have to worry about not having health insurance if they need medical care or even the slightest prescription of medicine. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act should continue to be mandated by the government for all its eligible citizens. Lots of senior citizens need this law. Day by day millions of citizens die from infirmities due to the lack of affordable health insurance. President Obama made it so that citizens wont have to stress over health issues. Hopefully, this law is still in effect years and year to come to keep Americans health care secure.
