Statement of Purpose: Our classroom is a fun, safe, and positive learning environment. There are high expectations of the students; they are required to do their best and they will be challenged as they grow and actively participate in their education.
Classroom Rules: 1. Use your inside voice and walking feet 2. Keep hands and feet to yourself 3. Treat yourself, others and everything else with respect 4. Raise your hand and quietly wait to be called on when you have a question, concern or comment 5. Follow the teachers directions
Classroom Procedures:
Procedure 1: Arrival Place your coat and backpack in your locker Walk into the class room quietly Put your school materials and books in your desk Turn in your homework into the basket Check yourself in, check off whether you are eating hot or cold lunch Complete classroom chores Make sure you have at least two sharpened pencils If finished early, read the What Else Can I Do? poster and pick one to do Be in your seat when the bell rings
Procedure 2: Bathroom Only raise your hand to go if its an emergency, otherwise wait; dont disrupt the class Take a hall pass and walk quietly in the hallway Make sure you are also quiet in the bathroom Wash and dry your hands Walk quietly back to class and put the hall pass back Sit back at your seat
Procedure 3: Lining up (to go to another class, in the hallway, etc.) Stand up straight at the door; single file line Hands at your side and to yourself Face forward Voices off
Procedure 4: Tardy Get a pass from the office Give the pass to myself, or if Im teaching, place it in the basket Quietly complete the arrival procedures Join the class and start working
Procedure 4: Dismissal Make sure all your homework is in your take home folder, or if finished place in the basket Make sure you have all the assignment written down in your assignment notebook Clean up any messes in your area Get your belongings (coat, backpack etc.) from your locker Pack your backpack and put on your clothing Quietly line up at the door until you are dismissed
Procedure 6: Absence Check your slot for any work missed If you have any missed work, place in your take home folder You have the amount of days you were absent plus one more day to make up your missed work and/or test You will lose 10% of the grade each day your homework is late; if it comes to 0%, I will no longer accept your missed homework assignment(s)
Positive Consequences:
Free and Frequent Intermittent Strong and Long term Stickers either on homework or chart Verbal praise and compliments Thumbs up High five Helper of the day Note sent home or a call to parents Student of the week Friday party day Field Trip Certificate
Negative Consequences: Level 1: Class Reminder Level 2: Individual Reminder Level 3: Modification: (move a student to another desk area) Level 4: Loss of recess time Level 5: Call the Parents Level 6: Send the student(s) to the office Crisis Plan: 1. A pre-designated student will be sent to the office with a crisis card 2. Call a teacher nearby letting him/her know that you will be sending students to his/her classroom 3. Help the student reestablish self-control 4. Once the crisis has been addressed, retrieve the rest of the students back to the class room 5. Let the parents know what happened
