Series History: Today marks the fourth year that Anna Maria and Maine
Maritime have battled. The Mariners hold a 2-1 lead against the AMCATS.
Anna Maria beat Maine Maritime 34-14 last season

Thats what they think: Maine Maritime was selected to finish seventh
in the NEFC Preseason coaches poll. Endicott was chosen first followed
by Salve Regina, Curry, Western New England, MIT, Coast Guard and
Nichols. Anna was selected last (eighth) in the ECFC preseason poll.
All-Conference Retuners: Seniors Billy Wetherbee and John Regis are
back after All-Bogan selections last year. Wetherbee was named to the
first team while Regis landed on the second
team.
History
Senior AJ Scerra finished with two catches for 103 yards and one score.
Junior Dana Valentine amassed 92 all-purpose yards and found the endzone twice in his first game since transferring from Salisbury University.
For the AMCATS (0-1), senior Robert Small scampered for 140 yards and
one touchdown to pace the hosts.
Maine Maritime Last Week: The Mariners were idle.
Season Openers: Maine Maritime 37-29-1 in the seasons first game
since the Mariners began playing football in 1946. Since 2000, Maine
Maritime has gone 7-6 in season openers. Under coach Chris McKenney,
the Mariners are 6-6.
Regis recorded 34 tackles and 4.5 sacks last season. He had a seasonhigh two sacks against Worcester State.
AMC Coach: Vince Sinagra joined the AMC Coaching Staff in 2010, and
was elevated to Head Coach in 2012. He brings over 30 years of coaching
experience with him, including 16 years at the Division I level with schools
such as Stony Brook, Holy Cross, Fordham and Norfolk State.
Sinagras 2012 squad produced eight ECFC All-Conference accolades
including three members on the first team, an ECAC Player of the Week
and BSN Defensive Player and Team of the Week selection. There were
two AMCATS recognized on the Senior Class Pre-Season All-American
Squad and five players acknowledged by the Worcester Area Football
Association. Most notably Tim Ray and Andrew Nevit earned ECFC AllAcademic honors.
As the Defensive Coordinator at BloomsbergUniversity, Coach Sinagra
led a unit that was ranked number two in the nation among Division II
team. Most recently, he was the Linebackers Coach for a defense at
Norfolk State that was ranked fifth nationally. During his coaching career
he has had the pleasure of instructing some extremely talented players,
including former New York Jets wide receiver Wayne Chrebet
MMAs Coach: Chris McKenney is in his 13th season at the helm in
Castine. The most victorious coach in the Academys history, McKenney
picked up his 50th win in the 2011 in the season opener against Anna
Maria. Under McKenneys direction, the Mariners have made three
postseason appearances, including the Academys first-ever NCAA Championship appearance in the wake of the 2009 NEFC Championship. That
season, McKenney was named the New England Football Writers Coach
of the Year for Divisions II & III. In 2005, he was named the NEFC Coach
of the Year. He had earned Bogan Division Coach of the Year honors in
2006 and 2008. McKenney enters todays game with a record of 53-62.
