himself as Mr. Schmid and will begin by
taking attendance after the students have
gotten out of the locker room

Instant Activity: Timed Run

The T will tell Ss that they will be
running for a total of 3:15 min before
class starts as a warm up. The T will have
Ss line up around the court and begin
running on the T whistle.

Transition: The T will bring the Ss over
to the group in the middle of the courts to
begin the instruction

Introduction: The T will inform the Ss
that todays lesson will be a continuation
of the Nitro Ball gameplay

Safety: The T will inform Ss that they
will be doing activities on courts that are
close to each other. Ss will be reminded
that if a ball rolls onto another court, Ss
should wait until the other teams finishes
their point or activity to retrieve the ball.

Signals: The T will tell Ss that when they
want a task to begin, the T will say ready
go, and when they want a task to stop, the
T will say either 321 freeze or use one
whistle to gain attention. When Ss are
asked to stop the task no one should be
bouncing the Nitro Balls or talking when
the T is talking.

Today's objective:
The T will tell Ss that todays lesson is
going to be on gameplay using different
extensions for every game. Every game
will have a different rule.

The teacher will announce what that the
first game will be played with NO

teams are playing and on what courts.
Once the teacher calls out a team number,
teams may get a Nitro Ball and begin
playing.

Transition: The Ss will be asked to get
into their teams on their assigned courts
and begin playing.

Activity One- Gameplay

Because the focus of this lesson is
gameplay, the teacher will allow the
students to play 6 minute games. Once
the six minutes are completed, the teams
will all jog into the middle court to report
their scores, listen for the new extension
(the teacher will demonstrate the rule if
needed), and find out where they are
playing next.

Extension for game 1: No Extension

Extension for game 2: Teams must use all
three hits before returning the ball over
the net.

Extension for game 3: You can not touch
the ball more than once per volley. (The
student who bumps it can not spike it)

Extension for game 4: Teams receive 2
points for every attack (spike). Spikes
must be overhand, and underhand OR
side armed

Extension for game 5: The team that is
LOSING gets one extra hit per side (4
hits instead of 3) If its tied, both teams
get 3.

Teacher positioning: The T will be
positioned on the outsides of the courts,
walking around giving specific feedback
to the Ss.

Accommodations: Ss who are not able
to do nitro ball based activities will be
asked to practice their fitness by jogging
in circles around the courts. Ss who are
not able to do either of these tasks will
stay with the teacher and assess the Ss
performance
Assessment: Teacher observation- The T
will be assessing the Ss based on the use
of skills. Are the students using the
bump? the set? and the spike?

Transition: Students will be asked to
gather into the middle of the center court
for closure

Closure

The T will ask Ss to raise their hand and
explain which extension given made the
game most competitive or enjoyable.

The Ss will be asked what they key was
to being able to return another teams
spike.

The Ss will also be asked what they key
was in order to create a attacking
opportunity.

Transition- the Ss will be allowed to go
and change for their next class.
