We think that our production targets are wide variety of audiences and we would like to think it is
certified as a 12a. All of these images are the stereotypes of a middle class background.

1. For the first image, you can see young adults in a lecture resembling them as university
students. These kinds of people would mostly listen to popular chart or party music as they
are a sociable group that are likely to go to parties or clubs at weekends and drink. These
types of individuals will be quite fashionable so they would particularly shop in stores that
most people from that generation such as Topman or Hollister; these shops are fashionable
and popular. I think the university student groups link to our opening sequence because they
are part of the generation that our main character is in, they would both go out at weekends
and be sociable so they can get a feel of the emotional trauma of a relative or sibling going
missing when youre at an early, vulnerable age in life. I also think that these type of
individuals link to the genre because this generation of teens and students enjoy a fast
paced film with a gripping storyline, which reels in their attention making them want to
continue watching, waiting for the outcome of the plot.
2. In the second image, you can see a group of elderly people sitting together playing cards and
drinking tea. Nowadays they wouldnt listen to much music or go out as often but when they
were younger they would listen to popular music from around that time such as Jazz or
Classical music. This would involve them to go out more often to theatres to watch these
types of performances or go to places to go dancing with each other. Also when they were
younger they would dress smartly as it was seen as appropriate but in todays age they
would wear the same sort of clothing such as shirt and smart shoes and trousers. I think that
elderly people link to our opening sequence because as they are older they have had a lot of
different experiences in life and know of any situation that is similar to this so they could
understand the sisters emotional concerns. I also think they elderly people would link to our
genre because they would need a film type like an enticing thriller to keep them on edge, a
thriller they would greatly enjoy.
3. In the third image we can see two adults and two young children which resemble a family
together. As the children are quite young and are with their parents it shows that the
parents have a lot of time to spare and like to be with their children. This makes them a
good target audience because as we believe our film is a 12a, the children will be able to
watch it with their parents. As the children are quite young, they would have their parents
shop for them and wouldnt be too involved in fashion so any suitable clothing would be
worn by them but the parents would go to well-known retailers to purchase more
fashionable clothing such as jeans and shirts. For going out they would dress very smart to
make a good impression to others around them, representing their middle class background.
There would also be a vast comparison to the type of TV the children and the parents watch;
the parents would possibly watch soaps and reality dramas as well as, importantly, the
news. Whereas the children would watch cartoons most of the time. These individuals
would link to the girl that goes missing in the opening sequence because they are parents so
they would understand the traumatic experience if one of their children goes missing.
4. In the fourth image, you can see an average middle class house which links to the previous
photos as each individual is suggested to be middle class so they would most likely live in a
house similar to this; the university students may have grown up in a house similar to this.
This house links to our opening sequence because our main character that goes looking for
her sister is seen in the house designing a missing poster so that people can contribute to
the finding of her sister. The setting is a middle class house from a wealthy area supporting
the link between the photo and the opening sequences setting. This photo also links to the
characters in our opening sequence as we are shown the main characters house suggesting
that she is part of a middle classed family, which relates our characters to the social class of
our target audiences.
5. The fifth image from the collage shows the British currency in the form of a number of
pound notes. This relates to a middle class stereotype that they are reasonably wealthy as
they are seen to have more effort meaning that they would do well in school to secure a
well-paid job to earn money to support their family. This money can help contribute to
subjects seen in other images such as holidays, smart and fashionable clothing, a nice house
and car. Again this image links to our opening sequence because the money represents the
wealthy stereotype of a middle classed family similar to the characters in our opening
sequence and our target audience. The image also links to our opening sequences genre
which is a horror/thriller, this is because quite a few well known horror/thriller films that are
set in houses and urban areas are usually set in reasonably large houses, bought and owned
by people with a lot of money.
6. The sixth image is a picture of a cinema. I chose this image as part of the collage because the
large majority of our target audience will go to cinemas occasionally, to watch the latest
movies that have come out or just to go out with their friends. This image of a cinema links
with our opening sequence because as above our target audience go there to watch films
but also cinemas will show films similar to our horror/thriller genre, where the main variety
of our audience exist. Linking with the previous image subject of money, the middle class
stereotype of being wealthy they can afford to go out and go to cinemas to watch films
regularly.
7. This is an image of an iPad, which is a device that many middle class families have in their
households. The iPad can be used to access a variety of things, including our film. Out film is
on YouTube and we would hope it would be distributed digitally also such as its own
website, Netflix and even through social networking sites. This makes accessing our media
product a lot easier for middle class people as it is more widely available to them compared
to working class, who may not be able to afford an iPad, for example.
8. Many middle class people own cars. For business and luxury, it is a necessity for many
people who are classed as middle class. This means that they could transport easily around,
such as to the cinema to see our film. We aim for middle class to be our main target
audience, and aiming for our film to be produced in the cinema means that our target
audience would have to pay to see our film. If we were aiming for a lower class, we could
have just used digital distribution such as YouTube for people to view for free.
9. This photos show a group of teenagers. We would say that teenagers would be the most
common target audience. Although we aimed for our opening to attract all kinds of people
and to be a family suitable for all of the family, due to the main character being a teenager,
it is likely teens will be the type of people to want to see this film the most. We think this is
because teenagers, especially girls, will feel as if they can relate to the main character as
they are very similar. The photo shows a group of friends, as teenagers usually tend to have
a group of friends and go out in groups. We thought our film would attract all types of
teenagers of a variety of age just like My Sisters Keeper did and therefore this is why we
used an image of teenagers from different genders and ethnicities.
10. This image shows a middle class business man. It is often that business men have a nuclear
family, and therefore can relate to the father of the nuclear family in our media film. As the
film is one which can be watched by the whole family, and therefore this is why we thought
even middle class business men could enjoy the film as they could feel empathy towards the
family as they have a family of their own. There is also many action shots and fast scenes
during the end as the family take matters into their own hands which business men could
enjoy as it is fast pace and full of drama.
