1. In order to gain access to the GaBi Education software, you are required to complete this short
form. PE INTERNATIONAL require this information to keep track of all GaBi users. Your
information will remain confidential.

2. After completing this form please read and sign the license agreement found on the following page.
Once signed, this is a binding agreement between PE INTERNATIONAL and you.

3. Ask your university to verify your application (this can be a supervising teacher).

4. Fax or email a scanned copy of this form and your student ID (teachers excluded; well check
your university website) to PE INTERNATIONAL:

Conditions

The GaBi Education license may only be used for education purposes in programs up to and including
the level of master, or equivalent, only at Universities and Colleges. PhD students in non-OECD
countries may also use GaBi Education. Projects directly funded by industry or public bodies are not
permitted with this version.

PE INTERNATIONAL retains the right to reject an application or cancel a license if it is suspected that
the license is being, or will be, used inappropriately.



Notes about Network Licenses

Network licenses are available only to teachers at universities and colleges.

Network licences are designed to be deployed in a computer laboratory where all client computers are
connected to the same server. GaBi Software should be installed on each machine locally.

If you are applying for a network license please indicate how many client computers exist in the
computer laboratory.

Special terms for the education version GaBi software product
in the loan and licensing of software, database contents and datasets for educational
purposes

Scope
These contractual terms apply for the loan and
licensing in addition to the system requirements
(technical specification).

1. Contractual item/del ivery and scope of
services
1.1. PE licenses the GaBi software with soft-
ware license keys to the client for own usage on
a temporarily basis and for education purposes
only.
1.2. The software covered by the contract will
be delivered in executable form (object code).
The source code is not a contractual item.

2. Granting of rights of use
2.1. The contract delivered by PE to the client
grants the following rights to use the software:
PE grants the client the simple (non-exclusive)
temporary rights to use the contractual software
and the accompanying information as per the
scope listed in section 3 for 12 month starting
12 months from the delivery date.

2.2 GaBi database content and its datasets
The client has the right to use individual da-
tasets from the respective GaBi database con-
tent in client projects in the scope listed as per
section 3.2 in the following.

3. Scope of rights of use
3.1. Scope of use of the GaBi software product
(full version, academy version, education ver-
sion)
The scope of use granted to the client for the
software, delivered with software license keys
including accompanying information, is deter-
mined as per the client-specific functionalities
listed in the offer. Additional licenses are only
distributed when a current main license has
previously been purchased for use by the same
client or by one of the clients affiliates.
The client has to use the software exclusively
for the purpose of teaching in universities. The
GaBi Education license may only be used for
education purposes in programs up to and in-
cluding the level of master, or equivalent, only
at Universities and Colleges. PhD students in
non-OECD countries may also use GaBi Edu-
cation. Projects directly funded by industry or
public bodies are not permitted with this ver-
sion.
PE INTERNATIONAL retains the right to reject
an application or cancel a license if it is sus-
pected that the license is being, or will be, used
inappropriately.

3.2 Scope of usage of the GaBi database
content and its datasets
a. The client may not extract or re-utilise the
contents of the databases. The client may not
temporarily or permanently reproduce, display,
distribute or communicate to the public the
whole or partial content of the databases, un-
less and only to the extent that the reproduc-
tion, display, distribution or communication con-
tains only an insubstantial part of the database
contents and it is solely for the purpose of sup-
porting or explaining any results obtained
through the permitted usage of the software.
Any usage of the database content to be docu-
mented for internal as well as permitted exter-
nal applications is to be cited as a literary
quote: e.g., GaBi: Software and database con-
tents for Life Cycle Engineering. PE INTERNA-
TIONAL AG, Stuttgart, May 2011.
For the purpose of clarification and without be-
ing exhaustive, individual aggregated datasets
pertaining to the clients business as a result of
using the database and software may be pub-
lished. For the purpose of clarification, distrib-
uting software with data imported from GaBi
database is not permitted.
b. If the client buys client-specific datasets and
they are allocated to him on a perpetual basis,
the client has the exclusive right to use these.

4. Representations and Warranties; Liabi lity
As the education version is a loan free of
charge, PE International does not make any
representations and warranties about the suita-
bility of the software and databases for any
purpose.

5. Termination
Each party may terminate this contract without
notice remains for cause, including but not lim-
ited to:
- if the other contractual partner continuously
and despite repeated warning violates against
the duties arising from this contract;
- if the client loses his/her student or university
teacher status.

6. Applicable l aw and juri sdiction
These terms are subject to substantive German
law and the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts
of Stuttgart.
