trainin$ as he feels she has potential and with trainin$ can make up for the years she has lost. He

e'ery opportunity to insult "issa and is in turn insulted and threatened by Rose.

when "issa finds dead animals in her room alon$ with threatenin$ letters. "issa starts $oin$ into
depression and en$a$es in self mutilation. 6t is re'ealed that thou$h she has not speciali5ed in
any elemental ma$ic 2Air 8ater (ire and 9arth3 she has a miraculous ability to heal which was
witnessed by Rose and their teacher Ms. :arp two years back. Rose finds out that this $ift is
shared by Ms. :arp who is then taken to a mental institution. They find out that "issa has affinity
for %pirit that mi$ht 7ust be dan$erous for her and Rose. This incident alon$ with her increasin$
depression was what had caused Rose to run away with "issa. 8hile attendin$ %unday ser'ice
Rose hears that the Moroi saint %t. Vladimir could heal people and suffered from some form of
depression. Also he was protected by his loyal companion the !shadow kissed! Anna with whom
he shared a bond. .n returnin$ from a shoppin$ trip with "issa Victor and 1atalie Rose has an
accident and on wakin$ up deduces from what #imitri tells her 2that she had a miraculous
reco'ery3 that "issa had healed her. %he reaches into her bond and finds that "issa is lyin$ on the
attic of the 4hurch bleedin$ from self-inflicted cuts. Her reportin$ this incident causes a sli$ht
break in their friendship.

and break her nose. #etained by teachers and $uardians Rose is unable to follow "issa; she
reaches throu$h her bond while confined to her room and finds that "issa is bein$ kidnapped by
some $uardians who assault 4hristian when he tries to im. . 6t is later re'ealed that Victor had
charmed the locket with a lust charm which causes people to act on already e0istin$ attraction
lettin$ $o of inhibitions. Throu$h the bond Rose finds out that Victor is the one who kidnapped
"issa and plans to use her to heal his $enetic disease. He re'eals that 1atalie was the one who
left the animals in "issa&s room to see her heal them after accidentally catchin$ her doin$ so. He
also re'eals that "issa had speciali5ed in the rare fifth element %pirit and that her brin$in$ back
Rose from the dead after the accident was what caused them to ha'e a bond. <sin$ %pirit is what
was causin$ "issa&s depression. Thou$h "issa heals Victor for the time bein$ the school
$uardians are able to reach the place and rescue her. .n returnin$ Victor con'inces 1atalie to
turn %tri$oi by killin$ while feedin$ and $ets her to break him free. %he in7ures Rose who was
'isitin$ Victor but is killed by #imitri. #imitri re'eals that he too feels for Rose but cannot ha'e a
relationship with her because of their a$e difference and because he won&t be able to $uard "issa
wholeheartedly if she is near him.
