SECOND ENGLISH LANGUAGE PANEL MEETING 2013

1. AGENDA

1.1 Pn. Norlina welcomed the teachers to the meeting .

1.2 The previous meetings minute was read. The minutes were proposed by Miss
Gayathrie a/p Vitapamoorthy and seconded by Pn. Ardini Chong Bt Abdullah.

2. RECORD BOOK

2.1 Pn. Norlina congratulated to all English teachers for having done on good job in
writing their record books daily.

3. ENGLISH PANEL ACTIVITIES

3.1 Pn. Norlina informed the panel that a few activities were not able carried out in April
due to a lot of activities scheduled at the same time.
Action: All Members


3.2 She also informed the panel that the Language Week will be on 8 July 2013. This
program going to be carried out with the Bahasa Melayu panel and PSS..

3.3 The activities that will be carry out are poems recital, spell-it-right competition and
riddles. Miss Gayathrie is in-charged of Riddles, while spell-it-right competition will
be handled by Pn. Ardini Chong and Pn Norfizah. Pn Anis and Pn. Norlina Sia are in-
charge of literature quiz.

4. UPGRADING BAHASA MALAYSIA, STRENGTHENING BAHASA INGGERIS
(MBMMBI), KSSS, PBS AND SET PROGRAMMES.

4.1 PBS is always not accessible to teachers as they could not key-in the student`s
bands/scores.
Action: Information

4.2 Also, its very difficult for the teachers to key in the scores as evidence because
passwords are needed to key in the evidence.

4.3 Set system which started in January causes some problems. Pn. Norfizah informed the
panel that she as the form teacher does not recognize her students so it is difficult for
her to collect fees from her students and to key-in her students scores as they are from
different classes.

5. ENGLISH LESSON IN CLASSROOM

5.1 Students should have 4 exercise books which are for grammar, literature,
comprehension and composition exercises.
Action: All Members

5.2 The head of English panel congratulate of the form 1 and form 2 teachers for being
able to buy a file each for students to keep their evidence.

5.3 Every class should have an English corner. They should put some story books or
magazines and make it as a reading corner for students.
Action: All English teachers

5.4 Miss Gayathrie suggested that we can put the old book that we no longer want them
in the reading corner.
Action: All English teachers


6. MID YEAR EXAMINATION RESULT.

6.1 PMR and SPM students are going to have Pecutan Terakhir and they need to have
drilling sessions. the Form 3 students are having theirs on 27 July 2013 (Saturday)
from 8-10 am which will involve all English teachers.
Action: All English teachers

6.2 Form 4 students didn`t perform well in their examination. For 4 Abrar, Normala
scored only 68%. Maybe this happen due to first time being exposed to the new
format and lack of ideas.

6.3 The best top 3 scorers will be given a dictionary each. For form 4 and form 5 there
are no students scoring A in English. Meanwhile form 2, four students obtained A in
English.

6.4 The overall result for mid-year exam showed that students were not well-prepared as
they had done badly during the exam. They lack of reading.

7. LESSON STUDY

7.1 The second cycle for lesson study will be done by different teachers. Miss
Atikaherma will teaching the first round and Miss Gayathrie is teaching the second
round. They are going to teach 2 Abrar.

8. OTHER MATTERS

8.1 All form 3 students are sitting for their PMR trial examination beginning 29 July
2013 till 2 August 2013.

9. ADJOURNMENT

The chairman once again thanked all the teachers for their good work. Meeting was
adjourned at 12.00 noon.
