different rack types: 19 ETSI 600 mm More details: See manuals for T9 equipment practice. For mounting shelves in ETSI 600 mm racks, mechanical adaptors are required. 3.2 1511 AN T9 shelf The AN shelf is shown in the figure below. The equipment allocation is only an example. The card positions are numbered 1 to 17 from left to right. 1531 FL T9 cards can be inserted in positions 1 - 15. Card slot 16 is reserved for the Common Network Controller Circuit, CNCC. Card slot 17 is reserved for the Q1 bus EXtension Adapter, QEXA. If dual -48V supplies are provided, check that the CNCC gives an alarm indication when one of the rack top fuses is removed. If single -48V supply is provided, the supply alarm is disabled by an ECT/OCT masking the CNCC alarm response. 3.2.2 Earth The shelf is earthed through the rack. Although the CNCC card does not provide 64 kbit/s Q1 bus for line systems inserted in slots 13 and 14. 3.3.1 Connection of the Optical Aggregate Line The patch cords from the Optical Distribution Frame shall be connected directly to the Optical Receptacle at the transmitter and receiver on the 1521 FL T9 with the card removed from the shelf. The fibre optical patch cords shall be guided through the slot in the card front. 3.3.2 Card Insertion Insert the card into shelf. Lock the card with the locking latches and secure the card with the screws at top and bottom of front. 3.3.3 Card configuration Make sure that the card is equipped with the correct firmware (LTE or NTE). This can be checked by use of a HHT or a VT100 terminal connected to the HHT interface 3.3.4 2 Mbit/ s tributary termination Only 120 interfaces are provided by the 1521 FL T9. 75 can be obtained by using a separate adapter card. TRIBUTARY OUT and TRIBUTARY IN TERMINATION: The jumpers have to be placed in "APS 1+1" positions according to Figure 3.8. TRIBUTARY IN TERMINATION OF OUTER CONDUCTOR/SCREEN: The jumper positions have to be the same for both 1521 FL terminals. 1+1 protection of the tributaries requires one dedicated protection cable per tributary as shown in Figure 3.4. This cable has built-in termination resistors and connects corresponding tributaries of the two co-working 1521 FL T9 in parallel. If the V.11 auxiliary channels shall be 1+1 protected, an additional cable is required. See Figure 3.5. This cable connects corresponding V.11 interfaces of the two co-working 1521 FL T9 in parallel. The protection cable ends marked "MAIN" and "STAND BY" are fully interchangeable due to the symmetrical design of the APS 1+1 cable. Only the 1521 FL T9 cards in the even numbered slots can be used for configuration of the 1+1 links. The use of APS adapter cards will reduce the number of slot pairs available for 1+1 protected operation. A preferred strategy for installation of unprotected systems will be to use the even numbered slots only. A later change to 1+1 protection will then be allowed without need for reallocation of card slots. TRIBUTARY OUT and TRIBUTARY IN TERMINATION: The jumpers have to be placed in "APS 1+1" positions according to Figure 3.8. Two single slot width adapter card variants can accomplish the following tasks: The combined 1+1 APS and 120 <--> 75 ohm adapter card. This card serves four tributaries and two V.11 auxiliary channels. The tributaries are accessed by two quad 1.0/2.3 connectors while the V.11 channels are accessed via one RJ45 connector. The adapter card shall be placed either to the left or to the right of the two co-working 1521 FL T9 cards. This card can be used both for unprotected and protected line systems. For unprotected systems, the connectors marked ST.BY shall not be used. The cabling between the 1521 FL card(s) and the adapter card is performed by 1:1 shielded RJ45 RJ45 cables. An unprotected system requires four cables while a protected system requires ten cables. To guarantee error free operation the cable lengths shall not exceed 0.4 m. The 1+1 APS adapter card. This card serves four tributaries and two V.11 auxiliary channels. The tributaries and the V.11 channels are accessed via 1521 FL T9 pin compatible (4 + 1) RJ45 connectors. The adapter card shall be placed either to the left or to the right of the two co-working 1531 FL T9 cards. Cabling to the 1521 FL cards is included with the adapter card. For protected systems, the cable guiding must ensure that a faulty card can be removed without obstructing the cables related to the one in operation. As a rule, the MAIN card is to the right, and the STAND-BY card is to the left. See Figure 3.1 for an example of how to position the adapter cards in an equipment shelf. Fully equipped 1531 FL cards are inserted into odd numbered slots 1 to 13 when CNCC is used (7 cards) and 1 to 15 when CNCC is not required (8 cards). The cable is asymmetric and defines Main and Bypass line. Configurations of the 1+1 links are carried out on the Main 1531 FL T9. The APS bus cable is marked as follows: 1 = Main, 2 = Bypass. A preferred strategy for installation of unprotected systems would be to leave alternating positions unused, as a later change to 1+1 protection would then be allowed without any need for reallocation of card slots. The 3U PAPA patch panel is required for tributary termination as shown in the figure below. The PAPA inserts can provide both 75 (1.0/2.3) and 120 (RJ45) impedance for the tributaries. The PAPA can also be used for pure impedance adoption 120 to 75 for unprotected 1531 FL T9 terminals.

This card serves sixteen tributaries, and it shall preferably be placed to the right of the co-working 1531 FL T9 card. The tributaries are accessed by eight quad 1.0/2.3 connectors The double slot width combined 1+1 APS and 120 <--> 75 ohm adapter card. This card serves sixteen tributaries and two V.11 auxiliary channels. The tributaries are accessed by sixteen dual 1.0/2.3 connectors while the V.11 channels are still accessed via two RJ45 connectors. The APS bus cable is included within the adapter card. This allows an access to the 1531 FL T9 synchronisation interface via a 1.0/2.3 (75 ) connector located behind the front cover. The adapter card shall be placed between the two co-working 1531 FL T9 cards . The MAIN card to the left, and the STAND-BY card to the right. The double slot width 1+1 APS adapter card. This card serves sixteen tributaries and two V.11 auxiliary channels. The tributaries and the V.11 channels are still accessed via 1531 FL T9 pin compatible (16 + 2) RJ45 connectors. The APS bus cable is included with the adapter card. This allows an access to the 1531 FL T9 synchronisation interface via an RJ45 (120 ) connector located behind the front cover. The adapter card shall be placed between the two co-working 1531 FL T9 cards The MAIN card to the left, and the STAND-BY card to the right. Details about 1531 FL synchronisation can be found in Section 2, paragraph 2.2.4.2. 3.7 Preparation of CNCC The Common Network Controller Circuit (CNCC) performs supervision of all Network elements (15xx PL/FL/MX) in the shelf. Note: CNCC 4 is required for support of 1531 FL T9/S9. The micro-processor controlled functions of the CNCC are: Monitoring its own supply voltages. Interrogation of the different systems connected. Indication of any alarm on any system. Driving the different station alarms (alarm extension).
