Teacher will . . . Student will . . . CFU
I do (5 minute limit):
Explain The Grinch Who Stole Christmas
We will have two teams
One team are the Grinches, one team are the elves
The object of the game if you are a Grinch is to never have any
presents in Santas bag
The object of the game if you are an Elf is to make sure Santas bag has
the presents
Hula Hoop/empty gym bags will be scattered around the gym floor
with the initial bean bags placed inside
Students will have various number of rounds to play
Each round will be a different locomotor movement throughout the
gym
On the Whistle or GO! signal every student will move throughout
the gym performing their indicated job and work for their team
Students cannot guard hula hoops/gym bags, they must continue to
move to either 1.-PLACE BEAN BAGS BACK INTO THE DESIGNATED
BAG OR 2.-TAKE THE BEAN BAG OUT AND PLACE IT NEXT TO THE
DESIGNATED BAG.
At the end of each round we will count to see which team won
Elves want majority of the bean bags in Santas Bag and Grinches
want all of the bean bags outside
I do:

Students are sitting at a level zero in ready
position listening to the game instructions.
Students may experience Cold Call during this
time
CFU on the jobs
that each team
does.
What do you
do when I blow
the whistle?
Where do you
put the bean
bag if you are a
Grinch?
Where do you
put the bean
bag when you
are an Elf?

Stress to students that they cannot stay at the same Santa Bag and
that they must be moving to different bags.

(Could label corners of the gym and place Santas bag at that place.
Then instruct that they must travel from the 1st Santa bag to the 2, and 3 and
so on.

We do (guided practice):

I help assist students together through the first couple of rounds
I hep correct students playing the game wrong, and go through
scenarios to prevent further confusion when the game starts

We do (guided practice):

Students are now practicing how to play the
game with my help.
Students are not freely moving yet
