It is the universality of these conditions and the clear-cut issues that have made this
period one of planetary opportunity and planetary initiation. EX 136

we live and move and have our being." hese involve the impact upon our planet of

'fter the present great world crisis, incident to our planetary *ogos having moved
forward upon the cosmic (ath, and therefore having ta%en a cosmic initiation, /is
imperfections are demonstrably lessened. there will be less distress and disease on
earth once the necessary planetary ad0ustments have been made. EH 536-537
'll I have done is to give you a hint as to the significance of the initiations, instituted by
the *ord of the World. hese are not, may I repeat, initiations to which the planetary
*ogos is /imself sub0ected. he world crises, which ever precede initiation on a
planetary scale, are part of the preparatory wor%, tests and trials which ma%e possible
some cosmic initiation to which /e has been and will eventually be sub0ected....
here is little more that I can tell you anent the planetary initiations or--as they might
be more correctly called--the planetary initiatory processes. hese affect our entire
planetary life but are not essentially initiations as we understand the term, or as that
word could be applied to 1anat 2umara. hey are a definite part of cosmic process
and particularly of solar evolution, but they are, as we have seen, only preparatory to
that initiation for which our world was made--the manifestation on "arth of the highest
of the three aspects. the WI** of 3od, as it is universally called. RI 661
hese are the broad and general lines governing the initiatory process4 the wor% here
indicated is followed by all disciple-initiates of all degrees, and even by the *ord of the
World /imself. /e, in /is high (lace, holds the manifested world of energies in a state
of fusion4 points of tension successively occur as a conse)uence of a growing divine
reali$ation within these forms of intelligent activity, of love-wisdom and of the will-to-
good. hese points of tension vary according to the divine purpose and the individual
initiatory problem of 1anat 2umara /imself, as /e submits to a cosmic initiatory

he originating source of the manasic principle in a planetary scheme is that lesser
cosmic "ntity Whom we call a planetary *ogos. /e wor%s through /is seven chains as
does the *ogos through /is seven planetary centers. It is interesting here to note that
when the solar *ogos is being manasically impelled to wor% out some purpose of /is
greater 1ource ,/" O5" '6OU W/O7 5'U3/ 7'8 6" 1'I&- /e may cause a
vivification in one or other of /is centers according to the purpose in view. his
occurred in the forming of the triangle of which "arth and 9enus are two points, and
,affecting the /eavenly 7en of these two schemes - stimulated hem to ta%e initiation,
and led the planetary *ogos of our scheme to form a lesser triangle within /is sphere of
activity, which triangle eventuated in /is ta%ing a lesser initiation, and in the manasic
impregnation of animal man. hus were swept into ob0ective activity that group of
monads who go to the composition of a particular center. C 393-394
7ercury was active at the time of individuali$ation when the "eighth gate" was opened
and a ma0or initiation of our planetary *ogos too% place, producing, in the human

!irst, it should be borne in mind by the occult student that.
...c. hat the planetary *ogos did not come from the 9enus scheme but from the
9enus chain of /is own scheme, the "arth scheme. Owing to systemic
alignment logoic %undalini could flow through a certain triangle of
which two points were 9enus and the "arth. his caused an acceleration of
vibration, and enabled the /eavenly 7an of our scheme to ta%e a minor
initiation, and to set about /is preparations for a ma0or initiation.
5e#t, it should also be remembered that in considering this matter we must be
careful to view it not only as it affects our own globe and its present humanity, but from
the systemic and cosmic point of view, or from the angle of its importance to a
planetary *ogos and a solar *ogos. /ence it is a fact that this event was not only the
result of the ta%ing of a minor initiation by our "arth *ogos, but in the 9enus scheme it
was signali$ed by the ta%ing of a ma0or initiation by the 9enusian planetary *ogos on
/is fifth chain. In connection with a solar *ogos it followed upon the stimulation of one
of /is centers and from the geometrical progression of the fire through the earlier

'll these results were seen when the /eavenly 7an of our scheme too% initiation
eighteen million years ago. his initiation was brought about--as earlier pointed out--by
a peculiar 0u#taposition of chains, globes and schemes, and caused such a stimulation
of all the latent manasic units within /is body that a downflow of pure manas from the
planetary manasic permanent atom was possible along the path of the planetary
antas%arana--a channel which e#ists in the case of the planetary *ogos, and which has
not to be built as in the case of man. 'long with this 0u#taposition came a similar
alignment with one of the (leiades, permitting of manasic influence from that source.

When man individuali$ed in *emurian days, it was through the application of the :od of
Initiation to the *ogos of our earth chain, which touched into activity certain centers in
/is body, with their corresponding groups. his application produced literally the
awa%ening of the life to intelligent wor% on the mental plane. 'nimal man was
conscious on the physical and on the astral planes. 6y the stimulation effected by the
electric rod this animal man awo%e to consciousness on the mental. hus the three

hirdly, initiations in which a /eavenly 7an may ta%e either a minor or a ma0or initiation,
thereby involving /is entire nature. !or instance, when individuali$ation too% place
during the *emurian, or the third root race, and the human family in this cycle definitely
came into manifestation, it signified a ma0or initiation for our /eavenly 7an. he
present stimulation in hierarchical effort is leading up to a lesser initiation. "ach great
cycle sees a ma0or initiation of a /eavenly 7an ta%en on one or other of the globes,

he fact, therefore, that in each chain the planetary *ogos ta%es a different initiation,
affecting different centers4 and so bringing into manifestation different lesser entities.

hey depict only one cycle in logoic evolution, and cover only the present greater
period in the wor%ing out of which we are engaged. hey might be roughly described
as embracing that period in the system which began for us in the middle of the third
root-race of this round and continues until the period called "the ;udgment" in the
coming fifth round. When that time comes our planetary *ogos will have attained the

' ma0or incarnation is one in which a planetary *ogos ta%es some initiation. /e may,
and does, pass through many incarnations without ta%ing initiation. When /e does
ta%e initiation, it is interesting to note that He $oes so $%rin& some incarnation in 'hich
He ta(es a )ehicle o* etheric matter as is the case at this time+
he *ogos of our scheme is preparing for initiation and hence the terrific tests and
trials, incident to life on our planet during this cycle, are easily accounted for.
he *ogos of our scheme, 1anat 2umara, will ta%e a ma0or initiation in the middle of
the fifth round, but is preparing for a minor one at this time. C 374
here is, as you may imagine, little that I can say on this matter for it concerns one of
the great and ma0or mysteries of initiation. It deals with and is related to the spiritual
status of the planetary *ogoi, those great 6eings in Whom all forms of life on all planets
live and move and have their being. It is concerned with heir point in evolution, with
heir goals and ob0ectives upon the cosmic (ath and with the initiation for which hey--
in heir incomparable and incomprehensible livingness--are preparing.
6asically it might be said that a planet is regarded as "sacred" when its informing
spiritual *ife has ta%en five of the ma0or cosmic initiations and that a "non-sacred"
planet is one whose planetary *ogos has not ta%en these initiations. E! 503
It is a cycle also in which the planetary *ogos, having successfully ta%en initiation and
thus affected /is entire planetary life, has also established certain e#tra-planetary
relationships which are necessarily incomprehensible to you and of no moment
whatsoever to the individual human being, but which will eventually create a situation in

When this stage of centrali$ation is achieved, then the group can begin to reveal the
hidden mystery. 'll that I can tell you about that mystery is that it concerns the purpose
and the reason for which our planetary *ogos too% incarnation and became the
informing *ife of our planet, the "arth4 it concerns the necessity, inherent in /is Own
nature, to reach a point upon the cosmic ladder of evolution which would ma%e /im--as
a result--the informing *ife of a sacre$ planet. !orget not that our planet is not yet a
sacred planet, though it is close to that great transformation. he cosmic secret of this
transforming process is one that 1anat 2umara is now learning, and when ,hat which
overshadows /im during this incarnation has wrought the needed changes through a
process of transformation and transmutation, then a great ransfiguration will ta%e
place and /e will ta%e /is place among those empowered to wor% through a sacred

his group approach, this group intention, this "group silent reticence and vocal
recognition," and this group dedication and vision are no longer in the e#perimental
stage. his group achievement ,I refer not here to your particular group which has not
been outstandingly successful- mar%s the point where there can be the inauguration of
a new phase of activity in 1hamballa. his will enable the *ord of the World to become
the :uler of a 1acred (lanet which, up to date, has not been the case. Our "arth can
now become a 1acred (lanet, if all right conditions are fulfilled. ' new divine )uality ,as
yet unrevealed and which we would not at this time recogni$e if presented with it- is
slowly crystalli$ing into e#pression, through the medium of this hastened initiation

here is one triad of cosmic energy that is of supreme importance upon our planet and
it is the united influence of its three constellations which will eventually bring about the
initiation of the planetary *ogos4 this will warrant any future planetary e#pression of /is
life to be termed a "sacred planet." 't present our "arth is not regarded as a sacred
planet. *ater, when these three energies have produced ade)uate effect and the
needed planetary changes have been produced, the term "sacred" will be deemed
correct and appropriate. his statement of course means little to any student at this

We need to remember that 0ust as in particular incarnations, men are focused or
polari$ed in various bodies--sometimes the astral and sometimes the mental--so at this
time one might infer that our planetary *ogos /imself is focused in /is mental body.
/e, it has been said, is striving towards the fourth cosmic initiation, which ma%es
possible o%r attainment of the fourth Initiation, for /e carries us forward with /im, and,
on our particular level, we achieve as cells in /is 6ody. 01 391
It might here be stated in connection with the planetary *ogos of our scheme that.
a. /e is in physical incarnation.
b. /e is midway through /is career upon the cosmic (ath of Initiation, and
conse)uently is to ta%e the fourth Initiation in this chain. Well may this globe,
therefore, be considered the globe of sorrow and of pain, for through it our
planetary *ogos is undergoing that which the mystic calls "the +rucifi#ion."
...Our planetary *ogos has for ob0ective seven initiations, the second cosmic

6ut at three points on the path of evolution the 7onads of *ove, wor%ing on the
abstract )ualities, touch the devas of activity wor%ing on concrete faculty. he
perfection of the two evolutions mar%s the point of attainment of the divine /eavenly
7an4 it is the perfecting of the two ma0or centers, creative activity and love, of the
*ogos. In their lower aspect these centers are %nown as the centers of generation and
the solar ple#us, but are transmuted, as evolution proceeds, into the throat and heart
centers. hen, in a dual synthesis, they will pass on into the third system, that in which
the (ower aspect is developed, and the head centers will be complete. his achieved,
our *ogos has triumphed, and measured up to the si#th cosmic Initiation, 0ust as /e
should measure up in this system to the fourth. C 590

ray of our solar system and particularly so at this time as the /ierarchy is approaching
closer to humanity in preparation for the "crisis of love," and an imminent ma0or

conform at long last to divine intention. I have elsewhere pointed out that for the first
time in the long history of human development, energy from 1hamballa has made a
direct impact upon this third planetary center. his is not due entirely to the point in
evolution attained by man%ind4 this attainment is only a secondary reason or cause. It
is due to the will of 1anat 2umara /imself as /e prepares for a certain cosmic
initiation. his initiation re)uires the reorgani$ation of the energies flowing through and
composing that "center which we call the race of men"4 this creates a rearrangement
within the center itself, and thus brings into manifested e#pression certain aspects and
)ualities--always inherent in those energies--which have not hitherto been
recogni$ed....
he great cosmic initiation through which our planetary *ogos is passing ,forget not
my words, "initiatory process"- produces an entire reorgani$ation of all the energies of
which /is body of manifestation is composed4 it heightens the )uality or the vibration of
certain of the ray energies, and lessens the potency of others. &irection also enters in4
certain planetary centers become the recipients ,in a new and vital manner- of the
redirected ray potencies. 'mong these, at this time, the human family ,or the third vital
center- becomes a prime ob0ective. he three ma0or centers in the body of the
planetary *ogos are.

he heart center--/ierarchy--?nd :ay of *ove-Wisdom
he throat center--/umanity--@rd :ay of 'ctive Intelligence
he impact of the new incoming energies upon /umanity will result from a planned
redirection. his will bring in an era of greatly enhanced creative activity4 it will be an
activity such as has never been seen before, and which will e#press itself in every

'strologically, the time is propitious4 from the planetary angle, great and momentous
events are imminent, as the planetary *ogos is ta%ing a cosmic initiation4 the energy
which produces order and which magically brings spirit and matter together ,the energy
of the seventh ray- is already organi$ing human affairs and these three great coinciding
events in time and space ma%e it possible for the seventh ray energies to reach a high

a. he initiation of the consciousness of the masses of men into the ')uarian 'ge,
bringing them under the new influences and potencies, and enabling them to ma%e
a response of which they would not otherwise be capable.
b. he initiation of the aspirants of the world on to the (ath of 'ccepted
&iscipleship.
c. he bringing about of certain ma0or initiations in the case of those world disciples

In considering these points it should always be remembered that great shifts in
consciousness, or great e#pansions of awareness, are followed inevitably by upheaval
in the outer forms. his is true in the life of the solar &eity, of a planetary *ogos, of
humanity as a whole and of a man. /ence again todayAs world problem. ' ma0or event
such as a change in the a#is of the "arth is related to an initiation of the planetary

with /im in a similar manner. he matter is abstruse and largely one of the secrets of

he evil %arma generated in any %ingdom in relation to the "realm where dwelleth the
planetary &weller on the hreshold" stands between the cosmic &oor of Initiation and
our planetary *ogos. his &weller represents all the mista%es and errors due to wrong
reactions, unrecogni$ed contacts, deliberate choices made in defiance of %nown good,
and mass movements and mass activities which are temporarily not progressive in time
and space. I reali$e that where these facts apply to the subhuman %ingdoms in nature
you are not aware of what I mean, but that does not alter the law or movements which
are in no way related to human evolution. In connection with the planetary *ogos I
would li%e to add that in that great planetary struggle and /is subse)uent initiation, we
are all implicated--from the atom of substance up to and including all the *ives which
form the +ouncil +hamber of the *ord of the World4 it is this titanic effort which is made
by the sum total of all the living processes and entities that compose the manifestation
of 1anat 2umara which is responsible for the creative evolutionary processes4 it is also
responsible for what we call time, with all that that concept involves of events,

...his sentence both in its individual, tonic and orchestral sounding forth, carries
information and illumination even to the planetary *ogos when it is uttered during any
cosmic initiation that the planetary *ogos may be ta%ing--and which /e is .o' doing....
he reason lying behind all this is that the planetary *ogos in this particular world
cycle is undergoing an initiation which will shift /is focus into the hierarchical center,
into that center of energy which we call the /ierarchy4 from that point of attained focus
/e will submit to the cosmic initiation for which /is planetary wor%--creative and
magnetic--has prepared /im. 's /e, in /is Own essential nature, ma%es progress,
every phase of /is manifesting body, /is e#pressive (ersonality, is involved, with the
emphasis of the conditioning energies wor%ing out through the two centers at this time
preeminently active4 i.e., the center which we call the race of men, /umanity, in which
the energy of intelligence is focused and critically active, and the center where the love
of 3od is demonstrated, the /ierarchy. In these two centers a great activity is on the
