A first for the state of Missouri.... Lawmakers in Missouri gave a final approval to a law that requires a 72 hour wait from a womans first doctors visit to the time she gets an abortion. The House, controlled primarily by Republicans, voted 111-39 in favor of the measure Wednesday night. Democratic Governor Jay Nixon, has not yet announced whether he will sign the legislation or not. However, if the Governor signs the bill into law, it will triple the waiting time for a woman to get an abortion in Missouri. As of now, the wait in the state is 24 hours, between the time a woman seeks her first consultation and exam from a physician, and the time she undergoes the abortion procedure, according to state Representative Kevin Elmer. Elmer, who sponsored the bill also known as HB1307, said it simply gives the woman extra time to decide. Of course, abortion rights supports downed the bill, calling it intrusion on personal lives.

A police statement said the bounce house was carried by a sudden and strong burst of wind. After the house was lifted 15 to 20 feet in the air, the boys fell to the ground. A few moments after, the 6 year old was found in the street, while the 5 year old was found in the apartment building parking lot. In a rush, the boys were airlifted to the Albany Medical Center, and the severity of their injuries was unknown at the time. A recent police investigation concluded that adults were monitoring the children, and the inflatable house was properly staked to the ground.

A sunken shipwreck was found off Haiti this week, and may be the long-lost remains of the Santa Maria, Chistopher Columbus flagship from his initial voyage to the Americas. Barry Clifford, an underwater explorer who led a team that found and investigated the wreck says he is confident about the discovery. He said every single piece fits and now him and his team has to go through the whole archaeological process, which they plan to do within the next few months. It is the ship that changed the course of human history, Clifford said. In fact, if this claim is confirmed it will be remembered in history as one of the most significant underwater archaeological discoveries ever.
Phil Jackson, the President of the New York Knocks, told point guard Raymond Felton that he will be traded during the offseason, according to a source. Felton is going to make over $4 million over the next year, and has a player option for almost $5 million the year after that. To many, the Felton news is not ground shaking considering his on and off- court performance.

What I did to change my sources this time, was similar to the previous two newscasts I have completed. However, this time I tried to be a little more witty and humorous with my leads. The story I had to change up the most was the story about the baseball trades. This story had less hard facts than the others in this newscast so I had to weed out an opinionated lingo. Also the Justin Bieber story and Columbus story had a lot of unnecessary info I felt did not need to be included. This newscast, I stuck to what was most important. There are a lot of stories concerning tragedy, and I stuck to the most recent info. In the story about the Missouri abortion law, and the bouncy house, there were PLENTY of quotes. In fact, they mainly consisted of quotes that I had to paraphrase while still attributing the source.
