You shoul d be abl e t o r un sever al i nst ances of a syst emon a si ngl e power f ul host i f you want ,
f or exampl e, t o f ul l y expl oi t t he mai n memor y. Wher e possi bl e, you shoul d use a 64- bi t syst emt o
enabl e use of t he avai l abl e r esour ces. I n some cases i t makes sense t o i nst al l sever al SAP

dependenci es and pat ches whi ch ar e di f f i cul t t o r ecogni ze. The anal ysi s t ool s pr ovi ded by SAP
can no l onger be used wi t hout modi f i cat i ons wi t h t he conf i gur at i on of sever al syst ems on one
host . Ther ef or e, i f you want t o use pr oact i ve SAP ser vi ces such as " Ear l y Wat ch' " and " Goi ng
Li ve" f or conf i gur at i ons of sever al SAP syst ems on one host , you shoul d f i r st i nf or mSAP ser vi ce
about t hi s combi nat i on.

2. I nst ance number s
SAP i nst ances ar e i dent i f i ed uni quel y by t he host name and t he t wo- di gi t SAP syst emnumber
( i nst ance number ) . The i nst ance number s must t her ef or e ( al so i n t he f i r st case) be di f f er ent .
I nst ance number s 98 and 99 ar e not al l owed. Wi t h HP- UX 11. 0, t he por t bel ongi ng t o i nst ance
number 75 i s al r eady used by t he oper at i ng syst em. See al so Not es 29972 and 94783 ( ERROR =>

3. CPU
The r equi r ed t ot al CPU power f or sever al syst ems on one host can exceed t he sumof t he CPU power
f or t he same syst ems on separ at e host s. Ask your har dwar e par t ner or oper at i ng syst empar t ner
about mechani sms i n t he oper at i ng syst emt hat l i mi t t he compet i ng consumpt i on of avai l abl e CPU
power among t he i ndi vi dual SAP syst ems and t he t hi r d- par t y sof t war e.

The amount of r equi r ed mai n memor y ( RAM) must be hi gher t han t he sumof t he same syst ems on
separ at e host s.
